Disney’s next live-action fairy-tale, Beauty and the Beast just just over four months away. The March 2017 release has a stellar cast announced, and now we’ve finally got to see them in action. Check out the first trailer for the eagerly anticipated film below.
This trailer brings a lot more to the table than the teaser, released earlier this year. The opening to both trailers are quite similar. However, this one brings more characters in to the fold, and gives us a glimpse at the CGI cast. Outside of Emma Watson’s Belle, we saw nothing but interior shots of the castle. Here we see Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, and Ian McKellen’s Cogsworth.
There’s also a heavy focus on Dan Stevens as the Beast, who is another well produced CGI character. The film actually wrapped filming in August last year, so clearly there’s been a lot of work done to create the non-human cast. With another few months to go, expect it to look even better on release day.
The film has big shoes to fill, following he 1991 animated classic. Disney seem to know that, and they’ve attached a lot of talent to this film. They have an Oscar winning director in Bill Condon, a man who has won acclaim after bringing musicals Chicago and Dreamgirls to the big screen. Can he follow suit here?
Alongside Watson and Stevens in the lead roles, Beauty and the Beast has a host of famous voices attached. We’ve mentioned McGregor and McKellen, while Josh Gad could be a standout as LeFou, the clumsy sidekick to Luke Evans’ Gaston. joining them are Stanley Tucci, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
Beauty and the Beast lands in theatres on March 17, 2017. Does that change your St Patrick’s Day plans, or already booked off to binge Iron Fist that day?
