Move over Batman and Superman; it’s time for the Joker and Harley to battle.
Warner Bros. and DC have released a lot of information the past few days leading up to San Diego Comic Con, the most notable being Shazam moving forward with production, and two mystery DC films set for 2020.
Today brought more news. According to ScreenRant, Warner Bros. is putting a Joker vs. Harley Quinn movie into development within the DC Cinematic Universe. The film is set to be a spin off of Suicide Squad, with Geoff Johns reported to produce. Whether Warner Bros. is simply courting the idea or committed to moving forward with it is unknown at this time.
Following the success and popularity of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in last year’s Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. aims to use the hit character as much as they can. They green-lit a Gotham City Sirens movie with Suicide Squad director David Ayer that will be centred around Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, alongside Poision Ivy and Catwoman. The latter have yet to be casted.
The information has not been confirmed as of the posting of this article by a member of Warner Bros. or DC entertainment.
The confirmation or debunking of the news will most likely come from the Saturday panel at SDCC, where Warner Bros. will present a new Justice League trailer, a rumoured Aquaman teaser, and possibly a new DCEU slate for the next few years.
Margot Robbie and Jared Leto are not set to appear.
The confirmed DCEU movies to come are Justice League (2017), Aquaman (2018), Cyborg (2020), Shazam (2019), Green Lantern Corps (2020), Justice League 2 (TBA), Justice League Dark (TBA), Suicide Squad 2 (TBA), The Batman (TBA), The Flash (Postponed), Wonder Woman 2 (TBA), Man of Steel 2 (TBA), Nightwing (TBA), Batgirl (TBA) and Gotham City Sirens (TBA).
At this time, unconfirmed films consist of Joker vs Harley Quinn, Booster Gold, Green Arrow, Swamp Thing, Teen Titans, Black Adam, Lobo, and Hawkman.
