The Daily Mail released images from the set of Alien: Covenant that can best be described as dark and creepy. The sequel to Prometheus is currently shooting in Australia.
Released in 2012, Prometheus was a sort of prequel to the Aliens films, but not a direct prequel. Alien: Covenant isn’t titled Prometheus 2 so perhaps this is more of a prequel to 1979’s Alien, the first movie in the franchise. The images that have emerged seem to be disturbing enough to show this latest film will have the same dark tone as its predecessors.
As you can see, the images show charred remains of humans and what appear to be monsters of some type. We’re not sure what’s going on in these pictures, but The Daily Mail describes them as “haunting”, “heart stopping” and “hell on Earth.” That is a lot of dramatic “h” words to be throwing around.
They also included some spine tingling footage of an exhausted looking older man, with a frightening visage navigating his way with the use of a mechanical device through a crowd of horrified onlookers.
Oh wait. Never mind. That’s not footage of extraterrestrials. It’s director Ridley Scott, who helmed both Prometheus and this current film, arriving down under. Also returning from the prior movie is Michael Fassbender, who had nothing but good things to say about working in Sydney, Australia. Although, he had little to say about the film itself.
“It’s great, I love Sydney, it’s a fantastic city.” Fassbender is quoted as saying, for some reason.
Also included with the pictures were one of non-exciting tree stumps, along with what looks to be a stage hand contemplating his career choice. Another image shows part of the giant stone head and hieroglyphics that were in the first movie. The first movie as in Prometheus not the first Alien movie; in case you lost track of the whole prequel/sequel timeline again.
Alien: Covenant comes out April 4, 2017 from 20th Century Fox.
