Lionsgate has revealed the second trailer and a new clip for Now You See Me 2, the magic action film exploring the antics of The Four Horsemen.
The first film, released in 2013, earned an impressive $351 million at the box office, despite its low Rotten Tomato score of 49%. It has gained a somewhat tongue-in-cheek cult reputation as the unlikely set of ‘heroes’ demonstrate the impossible through various tricks and plots. Ahead of its opening, it has already been announced it will be the second film in an overall trilogy. Below is the trailer for the June 10 release.
The official synopsis for Now You See Me 2 reads as follows:
“THE FOUR HORSEMEN return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than WALTER MABRY [Daniel Radcliffe], a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.”
The clip below also shows us Morgan Freeman, reprising his role as Thaddeus Bradley, recapping the events of the previous film, while promising his revenge for the ones who put him in jail.
The sequel will return Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. Joining the cast are Lizzy Caplan and Daniel Radcliffe. Isla Fisher will not be returning.
