Yesterday, on the Halo 5: Guardians YouTube channel, 343 Industries quietly previewed of one of its next gameplay updates, Warzone Firefight.
Currently, Halo 5 multiplayer Warzone matches consist of two teams of up to twelve and includes two flavors of gameplay. One pits players against each other and alien AI, the other player versus player. Both versions use a micro transaction system in game to allow upgrades via Requisitions.
With the introduction of Warzone Firefight, the player versus player element is removed and instead a team of eight face wave after increasingly harder wave of alien AI. It is a game mode also popular in the Gears of War, Call of Duty and Left 4 Dead franchises.
This is the first inclusion of Firefight since Bungie Studios left Halo. In Halo 4 the mode was replaced with the episodic, story driven Spartan Ops, which felt like more of an extended campaign to players.
No word on the release date for this Xbox One free exclusive that is just one of a series for this year.
