When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice turned out to be pretty disappointing (in most people’s eyes), fans turned their attentions to the touted extended edition that would be released on DVD. Adding in 30 extra minutes of scenes, subplots and even whole characters who were cut from the film, it also features more scenes of a mature and violent nature that will earn it an R-rating.

Thanks to Collider, more extensive details have finally emerged about the release – including a trailer that features never-before-seen clips of Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot and the rest of the cast. It teases more from Clark Kent, more debate of Superman’s detrimental effects on the public and, most intriguingly, our first look at Jena Malone’s mystery character. Contrary to rumours, it looks like Malone is playing a rival to Lois Lane rather than, say, Barbara Gordon. However, trailers can be deceiving…

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition will be first available on Digital HD from June 28th, along with the theatrical cut of the film, while both will then be released on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and Ultra HD Blu-ray on July 19th. It will run at 182 minutes in length. The special features are as follows:

In case you’ve forgotten from earlier in the year, Batman v Superman is directed by Zack Snyder and features Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams and Jeremy Irons in supporting roles.
