The film is set to release this December, and we have a new trailer marking the start of sale for tickets.

Watch this:

Anyone who knows anything about the Aquaman lore will probably read this as the Empire Strikes Back movie for Arthur going up against Manta, but the trailer is somehow really leaning in on the fun aspect of the film, what with Arthur still full of quips and the undersea world being more colorful than anything we saw in the live-action The Little Mermaid.

With “Junior” expected to be the son of Arthur and Mera (Amber Heard), it’s also pretty awkward that we don’t get to see her in the trailer at all; she barely shows up in the other promotional material as well.

Admittedly, I would like to be excited for the film, but seeing that James Gunn has already announced that he’s rebooting everything—plus all the behind-the-scenes drama that was said to be happening with Heard and the rest of the crew—it’s kind of hard to remain optimistic for The Lost Kingdom.

I guess if they are going out, I would just love them to go with a bang. Catch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom when it releases in theaters on Dec. 22.

Jason Momoa Allegedly Tried to Get Amber Heard Removed from Aquaman 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/momoa-allegedly-wanted-heard-removed-aquaman-2/ Sat, 14 Oct 2023 08:35:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79151 This December will finally close the book on the Snyderverse with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and if the drama surrounding The Flash wasn’t enough, more reports have been coming out that there was also a lot of mess going around behind-the-scenes of the Aquaman sequel.

According to Variety, the recently released notes of Amber Heard’s therapist have revealed that there was apparently some beef going on with the actress and Aquaman’s lead star. According to the notes, Momoa would arrive drunk on set dressed as Johnny Depp, demanding that Heard be removed from the film.

Granted, it did seem that the movie had been distancing itself from Heard ever since the court case with Depp. The latest trailer had revealed that Arthur Curry had a son, but it wasn’t clear if Mera was the mother; if anything, we only get one shot of Heard in character.

Though Momoa’s reps declined to comment on Momoa’s alleged attitude toward Heard on set, a DC spokesperson did say, “Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’… Jason works his ass off, likes to have a beer once in a while like everyone, but doesn’t show up drunk to set.”

The same source also said that they had spotted Momoa and Heard actually getting along and joking on set, and when it comes to him dressing like Heard’s ex-husband, the source said, “… He isn’t dressing like Johnny Depp. He has always dressed in that bohemian style.”

We don’t know exactly what happened, but as far as the DC Universe looks, it seems that they are having a terrible go at closing the book at the Snyderverse, from Gunn confirming that everything was rebooting too early, to rumors suggesting that Universal could be owning WB in 2 years.

Hopefully fans won’t feel exhausted by all this drama by the time Superman: Legacy hits theaters in 2025.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes to cinemas on Dec. 20.

Black Manta is Out for Blood in Latest Trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-trailer-for-aquaman-and-the-lost-kingdom/ Sun, 17 Sep 2023 07:50:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78767 It may be hard to believe, but it’s been five years since the release of DC’s standalone Aquaman movie, and now the sequel is set to release later in the year. As promised, we now have a look at Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and to everyone’s surprise, Arthur has had a sone over the 5-year-wait.

Check this out:

The official synopsis reads:

Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force.

To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

Just like the Flash film, the movie had to be delayed for a while since it was said that it had a lot of work to do on the CGI, and based on what we see in the trailer, the movie is going to be one hell of a visual feast; not just with exotic locations, but with all kinds of creatures as well.

Not to mention how much of that underwater hair they had to digitally replace.

It’s crazy the film was actually able to hide the baby subplot till now, but it’s possible the film could have us seeing Aquaman lose his hand like in the comics. We’ll just have to wait until Christmas to find out.

Watch out for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom when the film releases in theaters on Dec. 20.

M3GAN 2.0 Gets 2025 Release Date https://www.geekfeed.com/m3gan-2-0-gets-2025-release-date/ Sun, 22 Jan 2023 15:42:12 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73010 Despite coming out on ‘dump month’ January, M3GAN managed to be a huge box office draw, and a lot of fans have been raving about the next stage in killer doll movies. As it turns out, Blumhouse is now ready for a sequel.

According to Variety, M3GAN 2.0 is a go, and the sequel is now set to release on Jan. 17, 2025. We don’t have any details when it comes to the story, but Akela Cooper is coming back to write the sequel, and it’s said that Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will also return to reprise their roles.

One part that hasn’t been confirmed, though, is the director. Gerard Johnstone had directed M3GAN, but a director hasn’t been confirmed for M3GAN 2.0.

Like I said, the movie came out during a dump month, but M3GAN has managed to exceed expectations and has earned close to a hundred million on its $12 million budget. Producer Jason Blum has actually said that they had such a good feeling about the project that they decided to start discussing a sequel even before the film acme out. He explains:

“After I first saw the movie, we had a good sense that a sequel might really work…  So, we broke our cardinal rule and we started talking about a sequel before the movie was released. I felt so bullish that we started entertaining a sequel earlier than we usually do.”

We don’t know what a sequel could hold, but I’m pretty excited to see what could be next.

M3GAN 2.0 is set to come out on Jan. 17, 2025. Catch M3GAN now screening in theaters.

It’s Child’s Play 2.0 in New Trailer for M3GAN https://www.geekfeed.com/its-childs-play-2-0-in-new-trailer-for-m3gan/ Fri, 09 Dec 2022 14:01:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72379 Syfy’s Child’s Play series may be on the verge of cancellation, but killer dolls are making a comeback to the big screen this January.

M3GAN feels like the spiritual sequel to Child’s Play, and the film just got a new trailer featuring some more scares, and of course—viral killer doll dancing. Check this out:

Here’s the official film description:

M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Out’s Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.

When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.

The movie actually puts a special twist on the killer doll cliché. Whereas the doll usually wants to murder the child in a slowly agonizing fashion, M3GAN wants to protect the child she’s bonded to—but that doesn’t bode well for anyone who gets in Cady’s way—not even her guardian aunt.

Though the movie is set to come out in dump month January, the release has actually been pushed forward by a week, which could mean some kind of faith from the studio.

Catch M3GAN when it comes to cinemas on Jan. 6, 2023.

James Wan Delivers Another Killer Doll in Trailer for M3GAN https://www.geekfeed.com/another-killer-doll-in-trailer-for-m3gan/ Thu, 13 Oct 2022 07:43:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71547 Horror fans weren’t so keen when the Child’s Play reboot turned Chucky into a robot, but James Wan looks to be embracing that angle with this upcoming killer doll movie.

Here’s the first trailer for M3GAN:

The official synopsis reads:

M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Out’s Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.

Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.

Though we have seen films where kids are in danger because they toy they got wants to kill them, the movie kind of puts a twist to the trope by having the doll be the child’s protector instead; and it’s the adults around the child who have to watch out for the killer robot.

While Westworld has given us some realistic robots, I kind of like the design of M3GAN where she has the body of a realistic child, but her hands and face are all still robotic. No doubt that clip of her dancing is going to be making the rounds online.

Let’s just hope that the film does well, despite being scheduled for a dump month release.

M3GAN is set to hit theaters on Jan. 13, 2023.

Arthur and Orm Share a Shower in Wrap Photo for Aquaman 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/arthur-and-orm-share-a-shower-in-wrap-photo-for-aquaman-2/ Thu, 13 Jan 2022 13:31:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63465 It’s been more than three years since Aquaman hit theaters, but Arthur Curry is set to grace the screens once again with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom this December. Just in, director James Wan has shared that the sequel has wrapped, and we have a photo of step-brothers Arthur (Jason Momoa) and Orm (Patrick Wilson) sharing a shower together.

No official synopsis has been revealed for Lost Kingdom yet, but some suspect that Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a secondary villain in the first film, is going to be taking the main stage for the sequel; and maybe this time, Arthur might actually lose his hand—just like he did in the comics.

We don’t know what “The Lost Kingdom” will be, but some suspect that it will have something to do with the first movie’s “Trench”. Though Aquaman may be a standard superhero film, a lot of people consider the Trench sequence to be Wan tapping into his horror roots—and no doubt he could very well be upping the ante when it comes to the sequel.

Though Aquaman is released now, a lot of people remember the long wait it took before they actually got a look at the film. With the first movie being very CG-heavy, I can’t help but think that Wan is alluding to the same thing when he puts, “I have a very long way to go before it will be ready,” in the caption.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters on Dec. 16.

First Look at Jason Momoa’s New Aquaman Suit https://www.geekfeed.com/first-look-at-jason-momoas-new-aquaman-suit/ Mon, 06 Sep 2021 16:50:37 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61332 The DCEU train continues to chug along, and next year will see the return of Aquaman to the big screen. Just in, we have our first look at Jason Momoa’s new supersuit in the sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Director James Wan gives us a look at the returning original suit from the first movie as well as the new suit with has a ‘camouflaging ability’. Here’s the post:

Some fans have pointed out that this suit is actually inspired by a blue outfit that Aquaman sported in the 80s, and though it’s not entirely comic accurate, it’s going to be interesting to see how it actually functions in the final film.

With Aquaman infamously losing his hand in the comics, a lot of fans speculate that it could happen in this sequel. With Arthur Curry sowing the seeds of his rivalry with Black Manta in the first film, it’s possible that this sequel could have Manta taking center stage as the main villain and we’ll watch Yahya Abdul-Mateen II pull a Darth Vader and cut off Aquaman’s hand.

Besides Momoa and Abdul-Mateen, the movie is alsos et to see the return of many other cast members from the first film like Amber Heard, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, and even Patrick Wilson. One new cast member that has been announced is Game of Thrones’ Pilou Asbæk, and though we don’t have any clue to who he’ll be playing, it would be interesting to see him as some kind of modern-day pirate.

Catch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom when it comes out on Dec. 16, 2022.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Starts Production https://www.geekfeed.com/aquaman-and-the-lost-kingdom-starts-production/ Tue, 29 Jun 2021 13:40:18 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60284 While fans continue to campaign for #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, WB is continuing production on multiple DC projects. Just in, director James Wan has confirmed start of production for the Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

We don’t have any details yet as of the plot of the Aquaman sequel, but maybe the frozen setting is some kind of hint. With Arthur and Mera finding themselves in the middle of the desert in the first film, this could be a nice change of scenery.

As for cast, Jason Momoa is obviously coming back as Arthur, but a lot of the cast of the first film are also making a comeback. Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Temuera Morrison are all listed in the cast; and despite controversy with her clash with Johnny Depp, Amber Heard is also going to be reprising the role of Mera. As of now, it doesn’t look like Willem Dafoe or Nicole Kidman will be coming back for Lost Kingdom.

When it comes to new faces though, one actor who is joining the cast is Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones) who is playing an undisclosed role. No doubt more actors will be confirmed down the line, considering that the film has already started production.

Though Aquaman is considered weak when it comes to story (and some shoddy acting), the visuals are considered to be top-tier for a DCEU film. Hopefully James Wan manages to improve upon the first film’s shortcomings with this sequel, and have some more surprises in store for audiences.

Catch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom when it hits theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.

Ava DuVernay Addresses WB’s Cancellation of New Gods Film https://www.geekfeed.com/ava-duvernay-addresses-wbs-cancellation-of-new-gods-film/ Sat, 03 Apr 2021 01:04:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=58932 Though WB may have shut the door on #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, there was an emphasis on focusing on upcoming projects instead of looking back. What’s weird though, is that WB had just cancelled two DC films in development, Ava DuVernay’s New Gods and James Wan’s Aquaman spinoff, The Trench.

WB and DC said in a statement (via THR):

“As part of our DC slate, some legacy development titles including New Gods and The Trench will not be moving forward… We thank our partners Ava DuVernay, Tom King, James Wan and Peter Safran for their time and collaboration during this process and look forward to our continued partnership with them on other DC stories. The projects will remain in their skillful hands if they were to move forward in the future.”

While I was originally iffy about the Trench project when it was announced, it does feel kind of a shame that DuVernay wouldn’t be able to pursue her New Gods film, especially since she was so enthusiastic when it was announced she would work on it back in 2018. DuVernay posted on Twitter:

If anything, this is another blow to DCEU fans’ morale and a lot of accusations are being thrown at WB  for not knowing how to get a handle on their franchise. After all the excitement that came out of Zack Snyder’s Justice League online, it’s hard to imagine that WB’s public image has just been steadily taking a dive.

On the bright side, it is said that New Gods is being shelved for now, and it’s possible that the project could be revisited down the line. Hopefully DuVernay will still be enthusiastic about the project by then.
