Ms. Marvel – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Wed, 06 Mar 2024 10:10:15 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Ms. Marvel – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Ms. Marvel’s Iman Vellani Talks Her Next Appearance as Kamala Khan https://www.geekfeed.com/iman-vellani-talks-her-next-appearance-ms-marvel/ Wed, 06 Mar 2024 10:10:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81326 The Marvels may have not made a splash in the box office as expected, but Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) manages to be a fan favorite.

The Marvels had teased Kamala building her own team of Young Avengers, but we don’t know exactly when they’ll show up. Luckily, Vellani has given us a small update.

Talking to Polygon, Vellani confirms, “I have been assured… So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. [laugh] They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it.”

Though Ms. Marvel wasn’t as big as WandaVision, the series still had some huge milestones for the MCU. Besides setting up Kamala’s character for The Marvels, the series had also revealed that Kamala is the MCU’s very first mutant—which means that we could very well see her be connected with the MCU’s version of the X-Men.

Fingers crossed that they bring Kamala in for Deadpool 3, seeing as that property is expected to officially close Fox’s era of X-Men movies and pass the torch on over to Marvel. With Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman onboard, you can’t expect a better team-up for the mutant sendoff/reboot.

Going back to Ms. Marvel though, there are multiple ways for her to show up in the future, but based on what Marvel is planning (and how it’s recently been blown up because of the Jonathan Majors fiasco), maybe they just want to get back to solid ground before they start connecting more and more dots in the future.

For now, you can check out Ms. Marvel and The Marvels now showing on Disney+.

The Marvels Director on Why She Moved to London while Post-Production was Ongoing https://www.geekfeed.com/the-marvels-director-explains-controversy/ Fri, 10 Nov 2023 17:25:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79520 With the release of The Marvels underway, the media seems to be stirring up the pot with what some are calling a ‘hit piece’ from Variety, highlighting all the problems that the studio has been facing and the decline of interest in the brand.

The report goes on to talk about several issues within Marvel Studios, and one of them mentions The Marvels director Nia DaCosta working on her next film in London while her movie was still in post-production. While some have pointed out that it was regular for a director to start working on other projects around this period of development, DaCosta herself has come out to explain what happened behind-the-scenes.

In an interview with Jake’s Takes, DaCosta says:

“For me, personally, it was literally just that they moved the date of the film four different times, so instead of it being a two-year process, which I was deeply committed to, it became a three-and-a-half-year process. So every time the date moved—they knew the entire time that I had an obligation, a greenlit movie with people who were waiting for me, and I pushed that, and I pushed it again, and then eventually we all knew like, ‘Okay, if this pushes again, I’m not going to able to be in LA to do the rest of this in person.’”

Despite DaCosta having to leave for London, she also confirms that she was still attached to the film remotely, and they had figured out a way to get it done while she was doing her work in London. “It really isn’t the dramatic thing that I think people are feeling it is,” says DaCosta.

We don’t know exactly what the reporter had to gain from trashing on the franchise, but this kind of outrage definitely spreads across the internet and the fandom like wildfire. Some are thinking they already setting up DaCosta as a scapegoat in case the movie fails, but hopefully it won’t come to that.

Watch out for The Marvels when it hits cinemas on Nov. 10.

Things Switch Up in New Clip from The Marvels https://www.geekfeed.com/things-switch-up-in-new-clip-from-the-marvels/ Tue, 31 Oct 2023 10:20:53 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79420 After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios is ready to come back to cinemas with The Marvels. The film comes out next week, and we have a new clip showcasing the weird teleporting predicament that all three Marvels have gotten themselves into.

Watch this:

It’s unclear what exactly triggers the teleporting problem, but it does look like it only happens when anyone tries to use their powers. Some think that it would have something to do with Kamala’s cosmic bangle, but the question is how Photon (Teyonah Parris) manages to get herself roped into this problem.

Taking a look at the action though, the stunt work does seem to be very impressive. Not only does the switching give fans an interesting visual, but the camera work and choreography also give a new fresh look at the action; compared to recent Marvel projects which seem to be pleased with just having characters fight in a flat stage with the “Volume” in the background.

Admittedly, some fans are concerned that the movie isn’t generating enough hype. Some think it could have something do with the poor marketing they’ve had for the movie, but some also guess that the problem could stem from needing to watch two Disney+ Marvel shows in order to understand who Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau are.

Hopefully the film manages to get good word-of-mouth when it releases.

Catch The Marvels when they soar into theaters on Nov. 10.

Brie Larson Allegedly Disillusioned about being Part of Marvel https://www.geekfeed.com/brie-larson-allegedly-disillusioned-about-marvel/ Fri, 20 Oct 2023 10:14:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79294 It was big news when it was announced that Brie Larson would play Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel for the MCU, being the first solo film with a superpowered woman as the central character. Despite how many people were saying “it’s about time,” another corner of the internet has built entire channels just endlessly trashing on Larson and her place in the Marvel franchise.

Though it did feel like Larson was eager to be this universe’s version of Wonder Woman, word suggests that she’s actually lost the spark for her Marvel role.

In her recently released book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios (via The Direct), author Joanna Robinson details what Marvel’s plans were after their main stars Chris Evans, Rober Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson had bowed out of the franchise. The heads were apparently set to center everything else around Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Captain Marvel, but their choices ended up blowing up in their faces. Robinson writes:

“The future of those Marvel icons was unclear. The departure of franchise anchors like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson had already taken its toll, as had the shocking loss of Chadwick Boseman, but other MCU stalwarts were heading for the exits. The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ cast went on a farewell tour, Brie Larson grew disillusioned, and Marvel tussled with Sony in a custody battle over Tom Holland.”

Anyone who’s chronically online will know that Larson had become a face that anti-woke fans could tout whenever they wanted to say something was wrong with the MCU (or as they call it, the “M-She-U”). With Larson herself having her own online presence, it would be no surprise that she would be affected by so much of the toxicity that was gathering around her.

Now the same kind of storm is gathering around live-action Snow White Rachel Zegler.

For now, Larson is set to return for The Marvels which will have her Captain Marvel teaming up with two new proteges. So far, hype is at a low thanks to some lackluster Marvel projects, but hopefully The Marvels will manage to deliver when it comes out Nov. 10.

Ms. Marvel 2 Already in the Works? https://www.geekfeed.com/ms-marvel-2-already-in-the-works/ Wed, 27 Sep 2023 07:30:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78903 Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan is set to grace the big screen in a couple of months with The Marvels, but Marvel fans can check out her origin in her own Disney+ series Ms. Marvel now streaming on Disney+. With Kamala getting her own world filled with all kinds of characters, fans were wondering if the series was ever going to get a second season, and reports were saying that it would have to depend on the success of The Marvels. Now it seems that we should expect more of Kamala already.

As per @MyTimetoShineH, a second season of Ms. Marvel is already in the works. They confirmed this in a reply to a post asking audiences if they preferred a second season of Ms. Marvel or a solo Kate Bishop series spinoff of Hawkeye:

Nothing official has been confirmed, and the source has been known to miss a couple of scoops from time to time; but based on the fan enthusiasm around Vellani and the overall quality of Ms. Marvel, I wouldn’t be surprised if a second season was in development. After all, the series does confirm that Kamala is the first mutant of the MCU, and they could very much keep pulling on those strings until we have some build up to the X-Men reboot of the MCU.

And don’t even get me started on what Deadpool 3 is planning to do about the mutants being imported over to the main Marvel Studios timeline.

A second season of Ms. Marvel hasn’t been officially announced, but you can catch Kamala Khan geeking out over superheroes in The Marvels when the film comes to theaters on Nov. 10.

Ms. Marvel Season 2 will Depend on Success of The Marvels https://www.geekfeed.com/ms-marvel-s02-depends-on-success-of-the-marvels/ Wed, 13 Sep 2023 14:09:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78730 Kamala Khan may be coming to the big screen thanks to The Marvels, but fans can actually check out her origin on Disney+ with the Ms. Marvel series. The first season was actually well-received by critics, but we have yet to get updates on the second; as it turns out, it will have to depend on the success of the film.

Talking to The Playlist, Ms. Marvel co-director Adil El Arbi says that the second season is waiting on the reception of The Marvels when it comes out in November. El Arbi explains:

We’re waiting for ‘The Marvels,’ so that will decide what the next step will be… So we’re very much looking forward to that. I can’t wait to see it, man. It’s great to see the trailers and to see the whole family back there and Iman Vellani doing great work, so looking forward to that.”

We don’t exactly know where The Marvels is going to end up, but we do know that the first season of Ms. Marvel does set up Kamala’s origin and ends teasing her special connection with Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel.

It’s not clear why the Marvels will find themselves switching places, but fans speculate that it has something to do with Kamala’s bangle that is the source of her powers and could have some kind of cosmic origin.

Hopefully the films set up more solo adventures for Kamala because she definitely is a fun character, and her own side of the MCU also has a great supporting cast. Heck, have her team up with the other youngsters too; how about a Spider-Man cameo or appearance from Squirrel Girl or Gwenpool?

For now, catch the first season of Ms. Marvel now streaming on Disney+.

The Marvels Must Stop a World-Destroyer in Latest Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/marvels-must-stop-a-world-destroyer-in-trailer/ Mon, 24 Jul 2023 17:25:45 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77908 With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hitting digital and Secret Invasion down to its last episode, Marvel has decided to drop a new preview for their next movie The Marvels. This latest trailer gives us a better look at the plot, as well as the chemistry of the new team led by Carol Danvers.

Watch the new trailer for The Marvels down here:

We’ve gotten glimpse of the team together in the previous trailer, but this Marvels  trailer does give us a better handle at the chemistry between Carol, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau.

We also have a better look at the film’s villain played by Zawe Ashton, and she looks to be another Kree fanatic. Guardians of the Galaxy fans will remember her weapon as the one held by Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) back in 2014, and she even has an army of soldiers who also dress like Ronan from that film.

Admittedly, Marvel has kind of been having a mixed run with Phase 5, but there are still some fans who are supportive of every new project that comes out. Let’s just hope Marvels manages to be more engaging than Secret Invasion, because that show has not been getting any buzz as hoped.

Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”

Catch The Marvels when it hits cinemas on Nov. 10.

The Marvels Teaser Reveals Photon, Captain Marvel, and Ms. Marvel https://www.geekfeed.com/the-marvels-teaser-reveals-photon-captain-marvel/ Thu, 13 Apr 2023 12:49:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76274 The post-credits scene for Ms. Marvel had teased the return of Carol Danvers, and now we have our first teaser trailer for the cosmic team-up movie The Marvels which will bring together Capatin Marvel (Brie Larson), Photon (Teyonah Parris), and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani).

Check this out:

The official description reads:

“In Marvel Studios’ ‘The Marvels,’ Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as ‘The Marvels.’”

Based on the synopsis, we can surmise that the Kree are still going to be the main antagonists of this film. We can even see that the character played by Zawe Ashton is holding the same hammer that Ronan the Accuser wields in the first Guardians of the Galaxy.

There’s still the question of how the three have their powers connected, but it’s pretty cool to think we’re going to get a fight scene where they just keep switching with each other throughout the sequence.

With a release date set for November, I imagine we could get our full trailer around May, when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits cinemas.

The Marvels comes to theaters on Nov. 10.

Brie Larson Shares New Poster for The Marvels; Movie Delayed https://www.geekfeed.com/larson-shares-the-marvels-poster-movie-delayed/ Mon, 20 Feb 2023 23:55:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73477 The Marvels was originally set to come out in July, and a lot of fans have been waiting for their first look at the film. Now we have the first poster, but it’s also been announced that the movie has been pushed back.

As per Brie Larson’s post, The Marvels has moved from its July 28 release date to November 10. Check this out:

The poster features the three Marvels that will be appearing in the film, namely Captain Marvel (Larson), Photon (Teyonah Parris), and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). We don’t have a synopsis for the film yet, but we should suspect the story to continue delving into the cosmic side of things, especially with Ms. Marvel’s bangle which is said to be one of a pair, which is possibly somewhere out in deep space.

The Ms. Marvel finale actually had Captain Marvel appearing in Kamala’s room, and it looks like she was possibly teleported there. I have a feeling that the story could actually have two settings with something happening on Earth, while there’s also another thing going on in space.

So far, it’s Photon/Monica Rambeau that has the most undercooked story of the three. She did have a supporting role in WandaVision, but we haven’t had any updates on her character besides the tease that she could also be a mutant.

Hopefully all three have an interesting arc in The Marvels without anyone having to go back and do their research on Disney+.

The Marvels comes to theaters on Nov. 10.

Batgirl Directors Have One Condition for Working with DC Again https://www.geekfeed.com/batgirl-directors-condition-for-working-with-dc/ Thu, 08 Dec 2022 12:55:58 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72360 Ms. Marvel directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were set to make their mark in the DC universe with their Batgirl movie, but things took a turn for the worse when the new WB CEO cancelled their film and shelved it indefinitely.

No doubt, this sudden pulling of the rug from underneath the duo may have left a bad taste in their mouth when it comes to the DC franchise, but they say they are willing to work with the brand again under one condition. Talking to Deadline, Arbi explains:

“The only thing that we would say is that, if we can work with Warner Bros., we’d love to work for a DC project in the future; just one request is that the movie comes out. That’s the only request—streaming, or whatever, on the phone—but just, it comes out.”

For now, there has been a rally online for #ReleaseBatgirl, with fans showing their support for Leslie Grace. We don’t know why DC pulled the plug on the project so suddenly, but some think that it was because they weren’t pleased with the film, or that they were leaning in on the idea that Keaton was going to be the main timeline Batman, an idea that was scrapped when new CEO David Zaslav took over.

We don’t know how much of the film has been finished, but we do know that production had wrapped already for months before the project was cancelled. Fingers crossed DC has a change of heart, especially with James Gunn at the helm, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

As of now, Batgirl has no release date.

A post shared by UM – Portal Geek (@umportalgeek)

Though the finale of Ms. Marvel did confirm Carol’s short-sleeved costume, the shirt does give us a look at Ms. Marvel’s updated outfit, as well as an official superhero costume for Photon (or Spectrum—she has a bunch of different names in the comics).

We had already met a younger Monica in Captain Marvel, and WandaVision confirms that she works for SWORD and has hinted that she’s received her mutant abilities. As for Kamala’s connection, the end of Ms. Marvel implies that she’s somehow teleported locations with Carol, and it could be up to Carol and Monica to find her somewhere in space.

I’ll admit, I was expecting Carol to get the spotlight one more time before they decided to give her a team-up, but maybe incoming director Nia DaCosta has an interesting direction to take the characters. I suspect the movie is going to take place largely in space, but I wouldn’t mind having Carol come back to Earth and see what she’s missed out on.

The Marvels is set to hit theaters July 28, 2023. For now, you can catch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever now screening in theaters.

Ms. Marvel Star Iman Vellani Went as Tony Stark for Halloween https://www.geekfeed.com/iman-vellani-went-as-tony-stark-for-halloween/ Tue, 01 Nov 2022 15:46:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71804 Iman Vellani essentially became her own Halloween costume when she starred as Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel, but she had some fun ideas for the last Halloween weekend.

As shared by her co-star Yasmeen Fletcher on IG, Vellani actually went as Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man for Halloween. Check this out:

A post shared by Meena (@yasmeenfletcher)

While some would think that Vellani would go as Captain Marvel or Ms. Marvel last weekend, I guess she’s kind of had enough time wearing those costumes for the show. It’s actually funny how she put the costume together, complete with paper facial hair. Who knows, maybe Marvel can even use these photos as an in-universe moment where Kamala did go as Tony Stark for a party.

For now, Kamala has a huge role in the MCU, being confirmed as the canon’s first mutant. Of course, we should expect more mutant reveals down the line (like with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Namor), but it would be great if Kamala would be connected to other mutant properties. Though I don’t expect her to be part of the team, it would be neat if she could crossover with the X-Men in a future project.

A great student, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she has a special affinity for superheroes, particularly Captain Marvel. But Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life is easier with super powers, right?

Vellani is set to appear in The Marvels which comes out on July 28, 2023. You can catch the complete season of Ms. Marvel now on Disney+.

Ms. Marvel Director to Helm Damon Lindelof’s Star Wars Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/ms-marvel-director-to-helm-star-wars-movie/ Tue, 25 Oct 2022 09:08:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71715 After HBO’s Watchmen, Damon Lindelof went on to a galaxy far far away to produce a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm. We’ve barely got any updates on the project, but now we have a director.

According to Deadline, Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been hired to helm the Star Wars project that Lindelof had been developing for Lucasfilm. The movie is still in its very early stages, but it’s said that Obaid-Chinoy was brought in early on so that she could add her input during pre-production.

It’s no mystery that Damon Lindelof is probably one of the most celebrated TV figures today, with projects like The Leftovers and Watchmen under his belt. We don’t know what he would want to bring into Star Wars, but I’m pretty much game for what he has to deliver.

A lot of fans had doubts about his upcoming Watchmen series, but when the show came out, a lot of fans celebrated how it embraced the core themes of the original source material without relying too heavily on cheap nostalgia-baiting.

Hopefully with Lindelof’s show, we get something that is more intent on exploring the themes of rebellion versus oppression. I mean, fans love Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, but their Disney+ Star Wars kind of depend too heavily on easter eggs and familiar characters that just get credit for showing up. It’s kind of odd that Andor is as good as it is.

No release date has been set for Damon Lindelof’s Star Wars project. You can check out Ms. Marvel now streaming on Disney+.

Ms. Marvel Season 2 Greenlit? https://www.geekfeed.com/could-ms-marvel-season-2-be-greenlit/ Mon, 19 Sep 2022 09:03:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71116 MCU fans were introduced to Kamala Khan earlier this year with Ms. Marvel, and with the finale teasing more of Kamala’s future in The Marvels, news has come out that Kamala and her family are coming back for a second season.

According to insider Daniel RPK (via Murphy’s Multiverse), Disney+ has renewed Ms. Marvel for a second season. Though the series was initially described as limited (like Moon Kight), the show does leave a lot of room for Kamala and the other characters around her to grow. After all, I don’t expect characters like Bruno or the rest of Kamala’s family to appear in the Marvels team-up film, so a series continuation would give us a chance to see more of them.

What I loved about the early run of Kamala was the team-ups, and we would find Kamala doing some superheroing with characters like the Inhumans’ pet dog Lockjaw or X-Man Wolverine. We don’t know who Marvel could afford to cross over on her show, but I would be welcome to a Daredevil cameo or maybe someone her age like Spider-Man—it’s just a pitch; I mean, they can just have a double act him out and have Tom Holland just provide his voice like Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian.

Kamala is a superhero fan with an imagination, particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel; Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home, that is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s looked up to.

A second season hasn’t been officially announced, but you can check out the complete first season of Ms. Marvel now streaming on Disney+.

Watch Iman Vellani Geek Out Over ‘Everyone’ She Met at D23 https://www.geekfeed.com/iman-vellani-geek-out-over-people-she-met-at-d23/ Mon, 19 Sep 2022 04:48:50 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71084 Marvel Studios had struck gold when they cast actual Marvel superfan Iman Vellani as Avengers-nut Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel, and since D23 was filled with appearances from every celebrity across the franchise, newcomer Vellani had a lot to gush about when she suddenly found herself coming face-to-face with some onscreen legends.

Check her out here:

https://twitter.com/ActionafFans/status/1570179964586151937

“Harrison Ford, I met Harrison Ford. Giancarlo Esposito—Dude, dude—I met everyone. I met Charlie Cox—Everyone. Vincent D’Onofrio, that took me—Jon Favreau, I just, I’m obsessed with him and everything he does, and he gave me a Star Wars—like a Mando token. Dude, I’m having a pretty good day.”

Even before D23, Vellani had made it clear that she does her research  on the source material, and even has some public arguments with Kevin Feige when it comes to the continuity of the franchise. If anything, she’s an excited, geeky, young woman—perfect for a character like Kamala Khan.

For now, Vellani is gearing up for an appearance in The Marvels alongside characters like Captain Marvel and Photon. We don’t know when Marvel Studios is going to give us a look yet, but it’s possible we’ll have to wait until next year, what with Marvel’s packed schedule.

The Marvels is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2023, but you can check out Kamala in Ms. Marvel which has its complete first season now available on Disney+.

Is This a Look at Ms. Marvel’s New Costume in The Marvels? https://www.geekfeed.com/is-this-a-look-at-ms-marvels-new-costume/ Wed, 20 Jul 2022 05:12:30 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70157 The finale of Ms. Marvel had teased a crossover with none other than Captain Marvel herself, but we have yet to get a look at the upcoming sequel. What’s interesting though, is we may have a leaked image of Kamala’s new outfit in The Marvels.

Check this out:

The outfit definitely looks a lot wilder than the one we got in the show, and it’s possible it could have some kind of cosmic origin. We don’t exactly know what happens in the mid-credits scene, but some think that Kamala and Carol may have switched places, with Kamala finding herself in space. Maybe the switch even took place when Carol touched the other band that matched Kamala’s.

While the costume does have an interesting origin in the show, I guess I’m a tad more nitpicky when it comes to how it was adapted. I really liked the simple look of Kamala’s outfit in the comics, and it made sense since she’s a fangirl cosplayer; the new outfit to me kind of feels too much like a generic MCU costume. Then again, that’s just my own personal opinion.

I still think the characterization of Kamala is great, and the series really holds no punches when it actually put Kamala in an actual moment in history. I mean, sure the Clandestines were a corny villain, but you just love getting into Kamala’s Pakistani-American community, which we don’t get to see everyday in a Marvel property.

Catch Ms. Marvel on Disney+. The Marvels is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2023.

Batgirl Directors on Film’s Difference with Ms. Marvel https://www.geekfeed.com/batgirl-directors-on-films-difference-w-ms-marvel/ Tue, 19 Jul 2022 04:21:10 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70134 Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are all the buzz with the finale of Ms. Marvel, but the two are also working on another comic book property with HBO Max’s Batgirl.

Since Batgirl also focuses on a young girl whose identity is spun-off from a more popular hero, the directing duo talk about how their Barbara Gordon is going to be different from Kamala Khan.

Talking to /Film, El Arbi explains:

“Well, the thing is that it’s also an origin story, but obviously, “Batgirl” is in Gotham City, so it’s going to be much darker than “Ms. Marvel,” and our main character is older. I mean, she’s not a teenager, she already has a job. But I think that we’re still going to try to have the same visual vibrancy that is our trademark, you could say, and homages to the comic book, homages also to the animated series of Batman, and the Tim Burton movies. So that’s what we’re trying to do with that, but obviously, it’s going to be a bit darker than Ms. Marvel’s world.”

Admittedly, Ms. Marvel is one of the most colourful properties that Marvel Studios has right now, so it would make sense that they would want to make Batgirl a bit darker. Even if that was the case though, I would love for Batgirl to have the same kind of creative flair that Ms. Marvel had with the earlier episodes.

We know that the DCEU has suffered a massive delay with The Flash and Aquaman 2, but fingers crossed that Batgirl manages to come out this winter.

No specific release date has been announced for Batgirl yet, but the movie is expected to hit HBO Max sometime later this year. In the meantime, you can check out the complete first season of Ms. Marvel now streaming on Disney+.

Ms. Marvel Shows Off Her Powers in New Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/ms-marvel-shows-off-her-powers-in-new-trailer/ Mon, 06 Jun 2022 14:16:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65520 Ms. Marvel is set to debut within the week, and Disney is further pushing the debut of Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. There has been a lot of buzz about Marvel changing her powers, and we have a new trailer showcasing her ‘hardlight’ ability.

Here’s another look at Kamala testing out her Green Lantern abilities:

Going back to the new trailer though, you can see that they’ve tried to make her powers look more ‘elastic’ to keep more in line with her powers from the comics. While we have her running through the city stepping on her hardlight projections, I think there’ll be a moment in the series where Kamala can project an entirely giant version of herself.

With Kamala expected to enter the big screen with the Marvels movie, I’m really hoping this series gets us excited to see more of her in the future. Hopefully she gets some fun crossovers down the line like she does with the comics. Wolverine team-up anyone?

Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega-fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels invisible both at home and at school—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8.

See Young Vellani’s Ms. Marvel Cosplay Years Before Casting https://www.geekfeed.com/see-young-vellanis-ms-marvel-cosplay-years-before-casting/ Mon, 06 Jun 2022 09:04:37 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65469 After Moon Knight, Marvel Studios is now gearing up to give us our next Marvel Studios show with Ms. Marvel this June. Newcomer Iman Vellani is set to play the lead, but did you know she was a fan years before she was cast?

A photo of a 15-year-old Vellani wearing Ms. Marvel cosplay has gone viral on Twitter. Check it out:

Admittedly, Ms. Marvel is one of the more obscure Marvel heroes, but Kamala does have her fanbase, with Square Enix even going ahead and making her a major player in their Avengers game.

We don’t know how much of Kamala’s story will be kept for the Marvel series, but I hope they just stay true to the goofiness of the character. I mean, I’m not a fan of how they just decided to give her Green Lantern powers with the light projection, but hopefully they can grasp Kamala’s more awkward and funny side—plus it would be great if she managed to have some crossover episodes like she does in the comics.

Personally, I just want to hear her say her catchphrase, “Embiggen!” in the show. Don’t let me down, Marvel.

“Ms. Marvel,” launching on Disney+ on June 8th, 2022, is a new series that introduces Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City.

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8.

She-Hulk Official Synopsis May Have Been Leaked https://www.geekfeed.com/she-hulk-official-synopsis-may-have-been-leaked/ Tue, 17 May 2022 11:06:10 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65234 Marvel is already buttering up its audience for the release of Ms. Marvel next month, but fans are wondering when they’re going to get a look at the Gamma-powered attorney, She-Hulk. While Marvel has been mum about the subject, a synopsis for the show has seemingly leaked online.

The She-Hulk synopsis was said to have been spotted on the Disney+ UK page, but it looks like it’s been deleted. Luckily, ComicBookMovie has managed to nab the text. It reads:

“This new comedy series sees Bruce Banner help his cousin, Jennifer Walters, when she needs an emergency blood transfusion and guess what? She receives his powers too… Tatiana Maslany will play Jennifer, who is a lawyer specialising in superhuman-oriented legal cases. Mark Ruffalo is back as the Hulk alongside Tim Roth, who plays the Abomination.”

This pretty much tracks the information we already know about the She-Hulk , but it also confirms that Jennifer Walters specializes in cases concerning super-humans. We don’t know which clients she could take on in the show, but there’s certainly a lot of room to introduce new heroes as well as give cameos to some more established ones.

One character that a lot of fans are hoping for an k appearance is Matt Murdock, who we already saw in Spider-Man: No Way Home. While action scenes are expected to be heavy with every Marvel property, I was kind of hoping that She-Hulk was more of a comedy with some superpowers here and there.

Until we get a first look, all we can really do is guess.

Catch She-Hulk when it comes to Disney+ sometime this year.
