Marvel – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Mon, 29 Apr 2024 09:28:11 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Marvel – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Marvel Rivals Reveals Gameplay for Loki https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-reveals-gameplay-for-loki/ Mon, 29 Apr 2024 09:27:11 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82104 The start of the month had Marvel and NetEase announcing their Marvel-based Overwatch clone called Marvel Rivals, and though we don’t have a release date yet, the content for the game has started to trickle out slowly.

Thanks to IGN, we have a gameplay reveal for the God of Mischief himself, Loki. Check this out:

Take a look at the latest featuring Loki Laufeyson, Asgard’s cunning trickster. Loki’s mystic illusions and shapeshifting power make him a devious Strategist.

Based on what we see on the reveal, Loki’s staff is going to be his primary weapon, and he’s expected to be a long range hero. His character is also given the ability to make illusions of himself, which should be handy when he needs to make a hasty escape. It also does look like he can teleport around a map.

When it comes to what I assume is Loki’s ultimate ability, he’s able to copy a hero and perform their ultimate as well. It’s pretty much Overwatch’s Echo and her ultimate.

Loki’s is just the first of several other incoming characters. We haven’t even got to the characters that the game hasn’t revealed yet. No doubt the game has several characters to bring into the game, from the Fantastic Four to the full roster of X-Men.

For now, we’re only getting bits and pieces of the game, but we should expect this to be a real moneymaker for Marvel and NetEase. No wonder they made the game free-to-play.

No release date has been set for Marvel Rivals, but fans are hoping it will be available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The closed alpha for the game is set to launch this May.

Disney+ is Looking to Introduce a Classic ‘Channels’ Feature https://www.geekfeed.com/disney-to-introduce-a-classic-channels-feature/ Wed, 17 Apr 2024 15:50:11 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81973 Watching television has greatly changed over the last few years ever since the rise of streaming services, but there are still some audiences that look to be going back to the old ways.

According to The Information (via @DiscussingFilm), Disney+ is looking to introduce an old school concept in the form of ‘channels’ to its streaming service. The idea is that it would function like classic cable, and there would be different channels that users could log into depending on the genre or brand like Star Wars or Marvel.

The idea of introducing channels to a streaming service isn’t entirely new. Netflix had also tried to make their own channel feature which would allow users to log in to one continuously streaming channel, but I guess that didn’t really take off. I guess Disney is shaking things up a bit by having multiple channels that are curated by genre.

Though streaming does allow for people to watch whatever they want at their own leisure, a lot of users have admitted that they miss the idea of having to watch something around the same time as everyone else. There’s also the concept of tyranny of choice; with so many options at their hands, some users actually just want someone to make the decision for them as to what to watch next.

We don’t know if Disney’s new channel concept will fly yet, but it wouldn’t hurt to try. A lot of people thought that full-season releases were ideal at the start, but as time went on, they realized that weekly releases for a show was the best way to gauge engagement for a prolonged period of time.

Disney+ is now available in select regions.

Marvel Rivals: Watch Official Announce of Marvel’s Overwatch Clone https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-marvels-overwatch-clone/ Mon, 01 Apr 2024 11:08:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81721 Overwatch had established the gold standard for hero shooters (sorry, Team Fortress 2), and there have been several ‘clones’ over the years including Paladins and Valorant. Now Marvel and NetEase have teamed up to give us their own hero shooter, but this time with highly recognizable Marvel heroes and villains.

Check out the official reveal for Marvel Rivals:

Introducing Marvel Rivals, the premier Super Hero Team-based PVP Shooter!

Assemble your favorite Marvel characters and engage in 6v6 battles, utilizing brand-new Team-Up Skills in destructible locations from across the Marvel Multiverse!

The Closed Alpha test is coming this May!

The announce doesn’t really go into heavy details, but the game has been confirmed to be free-to-play, and we are expected to see more heroes added to the roster as time goes by. Though there is already an established roster of heroes and villains which include Iron Man, Hulk, Loki, and Magik, it’s also been confirmed that we’re also going to get Storm, Star-Lord, Mantis, Punisher, Magneto, and Scarlet Witch down the line.

Though you don’t need a story to enjoy a hero shooter game, NetEase does give us a backdrop for Rivals and how these heroes have found themselves tangling with each other:

Marvel Rivals features a storyline crafted by the NetEase writing team where the merciless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099 has forced countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, creating new worlds and crises still unknown. Now, Super Heroes and Super Villains from across the multiverse must fight together and against one another as disparate groups seek to defeat both Dooms before one achieves domination of these realities. Familiar faces become newfound foes while former enemies become the greatest of allies in Marvel Rivals!

With Overwatch 2 currently getting bashed by the online community, a lot have been teasing that Rivals would be the game that would ‘murder’ OW2, but we’ll just have to wait and see. NetEase may be considered Blizzard’s rival, but they have been criticized for having too many microtransactions within their games. Even Overwatch 2 has already started pivoting their model to have all heroes come for free.

No official release date has been announced for Marvel Rivals, but the Closed Alpha is set to launch this May.

More 90s Marvel Animated Properties could be Revived Through X-Men ‘97 https://www.geekfeed.com/more-90s-marvel-could-be-revived-through-x-men-97/ Wed, 27 Mar 2024 15:07:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81676 X-Men ’97 may have been caught in a snag when showrunner Beau DeMayo was fired right before the premiere, but reviews for the series have been sparkling, and the X-Men are back, bigger than ever.

With X-Men just being one of the bigger Marvel properties of the 90s, fans were wondering if other shows from that era were going to get a revival, and it just might be possible.

As per a Discord Q&A with insider Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), Marvel is currently thinking of making a ‘90s Animated Universe’ which will be explored via X-Men ’97. When asked if there was a chance we could see the return of animated versions of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man, Perez replied:

There have been discussions about exploring a Marvel 90s animated universe, which would most likely be explored through X-Men ’97 at this time. There is potential for more projects to be developed within this universe, the most likely candidate being a sequel series to Spider-Man: The Animated Series, but this is still very early in development as an idea being tossed around.

For context, here’s the intro for 90s’ Spider-Man: The Animated Series:

With the original series having their own cameo appearances from other heroes, it’s very likely that X-Men ’97 could be doing the same thing—especially with how Marvel has been treating cameos in all their recent projects.

With another Spider-Man animated series in the works, I’m not sure if a revival of 90s Spider-Man would be a smart decision, but if it’s just a cameo appearance in X-Men ’97, I guess it wouldn’t feel like it was trying to overshadow the new Spider-Man show.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. For now, catch X-Men ’97 now streaming on Disney+.

Captain America and the Black Panther will Clash in Story Trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra https://www.geekfeed.com/story-trailer-for-marvel-1943-rise-of-hydra/ Thu, 21 Mar 2024 16:34:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81607 It may be a while before we get to see Captain America and Black Panther share the screen again—but what about a AAA video game?

We know that there was a Black Panther/Captain America game in the works for a while, but now Skydance New Media has given us our first look at the upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. Check out the story trailer:

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra – In the chaos of war, worlds collide. Skydance New Media and Marvel Games share an original story where an ensemble of four heroes must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy.

The four playable characters of the game include Steve Rogers/Captain America, the Black Panther Azzuri (T’Challa’s grandfather), US soldier/Howling Commando  Gabriel Jones, and Wakandan spy Nanali.

Besides the IP, probably the biggest hook of this game is that it’s being directed by Amy Hennig, the creative director behind the first three Uncharted games. We don’t have a look at the gameplay yet, but we should expect Rise of Hydra to be a platformer/shooter with just a little bit of puzzle solving.

Hopefully we get the gameplay reveal soon, but for now, I’m just excited to enter a different era of the Marvel franchise. After the modern settings of Spider-Man and the Avengers game, I want to explore more of the IPs alternate reality.

No specific release date has been announced for Rise of Hydra, but we should expect the game to launch sometime in 2025.

Madame Web Star Dakota Johnson Hated Being on The Office https://www.geekfeed.com/madame-web-johnson-hated-being-on-the-office/ Tue, 13 Feb 2024 11:35:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81029 A lot of fans were quick to dismiss the first trailer of Madame Web when it dropped, but for some odd reason, the film’s star Dakota Johnson has been stirring a lot of interest in the movie thanks to her press tour.

Johnson had already sparked interest among fans when she released that seductively charged promo video telling people to watch the film, and now she’s spilling the tea on Late Night with Seth Meyers by revealing that she had a small role in the hit sitcom The Office… and she hated being in it.

“That was honestly the worst time of my life. I loved that show so much, and they were like, ‘do you wanna be in the series finale,’ thinking I would be show up for half a day, and I was there for two weeks—and I’m barely in the f*cking show,” said Johnson.

For context, Johnson played a small role in the Office finale where she played one of the new employees hired by Dwight, and her character basically just walked around doing office things.

Since the show was ending around the time she was shooting it, Johnson talked about how dour everyone’s mood also was. She continues, “They were sad, and there were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years, some people didn’t speak to each other… and no one wanted to talk to me, nobody gave a f*ck.”

Admittedly, this was before Johnson got her big break with the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, and she was only in minor roles in films like 21 Jump Street and The Five-Year Engagement, but seeing she was already in movies, she could have gotten a more memorable role. Even Jim Carrey was able to make a seconds-long cameo work.

For now Johnson has pretty much rebranded her image from her comedy days, and she is causing absolute chaos with this press tour, also leaving her talent agency recently.

What will Madame Web think of next?

Catch Johnson in theaters when Madame Web releases on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14.

George R.R. Martin Addresses ‘Anti-Fans’ and Toxic Fandoms https://www.geekfeed.com/martin-addresses-anti-fans-and-toxic-fandoms/ Thu, 08 Feb 2024 16:30:57 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80939 Whether it be Marvel, Star Wars, or Game of Thrones, you can bet anything with a huge following these days has a toxic fandom; and while companies are trying their best to make sure their brands are accommodating everyone, one celebrity author is calling out these ‘anti-fans’ for adding more toxicity in what used to be safe spaces for all kinds of self-described geeks.

Writing on his own personal blog, Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin talks about how difficult of a year he’s had and how he anticipates 2024 not to be any better. He goes on to talk about ongoing wars, both publicized and ignored, but also has something to say about the recent fandom spaces. Martin writes:

“I take solace where I can.   In chocolate thrones, if nowhere else.   In books.   In films and television shows… though even there, toxicity is growing.  It used to be fun talking about our favorite books and films, and having spirited debates with fans who saw things different… but somehow in this age of social media, it is no longer enough to say ‘I did not like book X or film Y, and here’s why.’  Now social media is ruled by anti-fans who would rather talk about the stuff they hate than the stuff they love, and delight in dancing on the graves of anyone whose film has flopped.”

If anything, Martin definitely knows what he’s talking about. After all, the Game of Thrones fandom has been filled with the same ‘anti-fans’ ever since the series ended; on top of that, Martin has also been the victim of constant fan ridicule for taking his time when it comes to finishing the next book in the Song of Ice and Fire saga. Some are even blaming him for taking so long that the TV series had to write its own ending.

For now, the social media climate does seem to be cultivating a lot of hate—especially since they are very good with engagement. We don’t know how we could take on this toxicity moving forward; but some fans are trying their best to stay positive amidst the noise of it all.

Winds of Winter still has no release date, but watch our for the next season of House of the Dragon coming to Max this summer.

Kingpin NOT the Main Villain of Daredevil: Born Again? https://www.geekfeed.com/kingpin-not-the-main-villain-of-daredevil-born-again/ Mon, 08 Jan 2024 11:20:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80437 We know that Kingpin a.k.a. Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onfrio) is going to be appearing in the Echo series, but fans are ready for him to take center stage as the main antagonist of Daredevil: Born Again. As rumor has it though, Fisk won’t be the main baddie of Daredevil’s first MCU-based series.

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via @HollywoodHandle), the main villain of Daredevil: Born Again won’t be Kingpin. Instead, it is said to be Muse a villain created back in 2016 who had also clashed with Daredevil.

Dubbed as a ‘serial killer Banksy’ by comic-readers, Muse was a serial killer that is straight out of a Hannibal episode. His entire schtick is that he creates all kinds of art, but to do so, he has to use human blood and organs—all coming from his random victims.

Muse is also said to have superhuman speed and strength. Some think that this is because he is a mutant or inhuman, but I could very well see him not having powers at all if he’s someone that goes up against a street-level hero like Daredevil.

Since the relationship with Daredevil and Kingpin is still very central to the characters, I still expect that to be deeply explored in the series; but it’s possible that the clash with Muse could be the overarching story of the entire first season. Who knows, maybe we can watch DD catch him mid-way and watch some court drama for the next few episodes?

Then again, this is all just a rumor for now. Until Disney give us an official reveal, we’ll just have to wait and see.

For now, Daredevil: Born Again is undergoing a major overhaul, and is expected to premiere January 2025. In the meantime, you can catch DD and Kingpin in Echo which premieres on Disney+ on Jan. 9.

Insomniac Addresses Massive Wolverine Leak and Game’s Future https://www.geekfeed.com/insomniac-addresses-wolverine-leak-and-future/ Wed, 03 Jan 2024 09:35:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80225 Insomniac may have been at a high with the successful release of Spider-Man 2 around the fall, but the studio met the holidays with some distressing news in the form of a massive leak that gave fans a look at the next decade of their projects in development including the upcoming Wolverine game and Venom solo project.

A lot of fans have started getting worried that the studio will have to end up pulling the game after what’s been revealed, but now Insomniac has come out with a statement addressing the leaks and any upcoming future projects. Here’s the post:

Take note, besides a look at what’s been worked on, the leak had also revealed the personal information of current and former employees at Insomniac. Despite this though, the studio has assured fans that the game will be pushing forward. “Like Logan… Insomniac is resilient. Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in early production and will no doubt greatly evolve throughout development, as do all our plans,” reads the statement.

Other games that have been revealed in the leak include a solo Venom game dubbed Lethal Protector, the next Spider-Man title, as well as full-on X-Men game. Seeing that a lot of the leaks are just from early development, it was unrealistic to expect to see anything hyper-polished, but so far the reception has been mixed with some excited for a Wolverine game, and other wondering why the traversal looks a lot like Arkham Asylum.

If anything, I just hope the studio will manage to enhance their cybersecurity so they won’t be able to get attacked like this again.

No release date has been set for Wolverine, but Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 is now playable for PS5.

Madame Web Trailer is Spider-Man Meets Final Destination https://www.geekfeed.com/madame-web-is-spider-man-meets-final-destination/ Fri, 17 Nov 2023 16:40:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79693 Sony has already given us a look at their upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie, but they also have another spider-verse spinoff with Madame Web. The movie is set to release next year, and we have a new trailer with Dakota Johnson, Isabela Meced, Sydney Sweeney, and Celeste O’Connor.

Watch this:

We don’t know what the full story of the film is going to be, but it does look like Madame Web (Johnson) is going to be going up against another Spider-person in the form of Ezekiel Sims. In the comic, Sims has all the powers of Spider-Man, but he got them through more mystical means.

It’s unclear what Sims could be wanting with the girls that Madame Web would be protecting, but it does seem like they all have their own unique spider powers; maybe Johnson will be their version of Professor X. Julia Carpenter (Sweeney), Anya Corazon (Merced), and Mattie Franklin (O’Connor) are all different Spider-Women in the comics—maybe Madame Web is trying to go at it with a Charlie’s Angels angle?

If you’ve read the comics, you’ll know that Madame Web is a paralyzed old woman, and it looks like we’re going to be seeing her origin story and the origin of several other Spider-Women. We still have no idea where Sony wants to go with this franchise, but some are guessing it’s all building up to more Multiverse shenanigans that will introduce more Spider-Man characters besides Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

Regardless, the internet is already having fun with the trailer, especially counting the reputation of Sony’s Spider-Verse spinoffs:

Madame Web is set to release in theaters on Feb. 14, 2024.

Marvel’s Official MCU Timeline Confirms the Fate of the Scarlet Witch https://www.geekfeed.com/mcu-timeline-confirms-fate-scarlet-witch/ Sun, 29 Oct 2023 15:59:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79355 Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch was introduced as a villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron before she made the switch to hero, then back to villain in Doctor Strange 2, and while a lot of fans have been debating her fate in Multiverse of Madness, Marvel has decided to put the record straight via their official timeline book—sort of.

The MCU: An Official Timeline book is meant to explain the official canon of the MCU, laying rest to all kinds of fan arguments, and on the passage where it talks about Wanda ending herself, the book reads (via @ScarletWitchupd):

“Fall 2024 | 838-Wanda gathers the boys and assures the heartbroken Scarlet Witch they’ll be loved. [616-Wanda] destroys Wundagore—and collapses it upon herself—ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse.”

While some fans think this is the MCU officially confirming that Wanda is dead, other insiders believe that is not the case, and the wording is very specifically made to keep fans guessing still. @CanWeGetToast posted:

The way the multiverse is being set-up, it’s very likely that we can get another powerful Scarlet Witch variant to show up and do wreak all kinds of chaos magic; but it’s possible the fans would want a better fate for Wanda-616 who we’ve been following since Age of Ultron.

This is just speculation on my part, but I think the redemption of Wanda will have something to do with Vision, who is getting his own Disney+ spinoff show soon with Vision Quest.

For now, you can check Wanda out in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness now streaming on Disney+.

Launch Trailer for Spider-Man 2 Confirms One More Villain https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-2-confirms-one-more-villain/ Mon, 16 Oct 2023 13:10:24 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79201 Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 already had a packed roster of main and supporting villains, but a new one has popped up in the launch trailer for the game.

Take a look at Sandman taking on Peter Parker and Miles Morales:

A new description for the game reads:

Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise for the PS5 console. Nine months after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we find Miles still enlisting Peter’s help, but when the mysterious symbiote appears, Peter and Miles’ relationships are put to the test. Peter begins to change as he gains symbiote powers, and Miles, Mary Jane, Harry, and the rest of the friend group must help Peter while also facing the impending threats from a cast of new villains like Kraven, Lizard, Sandman, and Venom!

Besides the Sandman reveal, we also get a bit more of Peter Parker being affected by the symbiote. We know that it should make him more ruthless when he’s taking on villains, but it also looks like he’s going to be lashing out at everyone else on his team including Miles and MJ.

Speaking of MJ, a lot of fans think this trailer is confirmation that they’re going to be getting more MJ stealth missions; which a lot thought were the weakest part of the first game. Hopefully they managed to shake-up her side quests this time. I honestly wouldn’t mind driving around in a motorcycle trying to get away from some Kraven thugs.

Spider-Man 2 launches for the PlayStation 5 this coming Oct. 20.

Peter and Miles Take on Venom in Latest Cinematic Trailer for Spider-Man 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/peter-and-miles-take-on-venom-in-spider-man-2/ Thu, 05 Oct 2023 09:31:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79004 A lot of fans have been excited to see new Spider-Man villains like Kraven and Lizard in Spider-Man 2, but the central big bad for the game is definitely the new Venom who may or may not be Eddie Brock.

With the game set to launch this month, we have a new cinematic trailer for Spider-Man 2 which have Peter and Miles taking on Venom. Check this out:

We don’t really have a good handle at the story yet, but we do have some updates from the last game, including Miles’ own evolution into Spider-Man, as well as the death of May Parker. It’s unclear who Venom is going to be yet, but a lot of fans are almost sure that he’s going to be Harry Osborn, who was revealed to have been secretly alive by the end of the first game.

Besides that, we also have some more hints at Peter and Miles’ abilities in the game. We know Peter’s usual Spider-Man kit, but it has been revealed that he does have his mechanical claws to help him fight now. The trailer also showcases all of Miles’ powers, including his electric abilities, as well as his power to turn invisible.

With Spider-Man 2 being exclusive to a new-gen console, a lot of fans are expecting the ante to definitely be upped when it comes to quality for Spider-Man 2. Hopefully they also managed to add some more variety to missions because collecting hidden backpacks gets kind of old.

Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise for the PS5 console. Equipped with Miles’ new bioelectric venom power and Peter’s Spider-Arms, the Spider-Men face the ultimate test of strength inside and outside the mask as they fight to save the city, each other and the ones they love, from the monstrous Venom.

Spider-Man 2 is set to launch for the PS5 on Oct. 20.

MCU’s X-Men Reboot Allegedly NOT Including Wolverine https://www.geekfeed.com/mcus-x-men-reboot-allegedly-without-wolverine/ Thu, 05 Oct 2023 06:15:45 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78991 Ever since Bryan Singer’s first X-Men movie, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine has been the center of the franchise, spawning multiple solo films, and even a return in the upcoming Deadpool 3. With fans debating on whether someone else should take over the character, there’s been a little rumor going around that Marvel Studios doesn’t actually want to kick off their rebooted X-Men with Logan at all.

According to @CanWeGetToast, the MCU’s X-Men will start with a lineup that doesn’t include Wolverine. Here’s the post:

https://twitter.com/CanWeGetToast/status/1708242909265637779

Though Jackman is pretty much beloved in the Wolverine role, a lot of fans (specifically comic fans) have felt that the films have a tendency to focus on him too much and make everyone else a supporting character. By not having Logan appear in the first film, there would be a lot of room to develop other X-Men including originals like Cyclops and Jean Grey.

If anything, movies like X-Men: First Class have proven that an X-film can work without having heavy involvement from Logan. As long as we have a solid core group of X-Men with the strong themes of discrimination at the core, I’m sure Marvel Studios will find a way to reboot the franchise for the current generation of audience members.

I’m just here curious on whether they can still make Magneto a holocaust survivor, because he would have to be really old by the time the film comes out.

No release date has been set for the new X-Men, but rumors suggest it could come out after Avengers: Secret Wars which releases in 2026.

New International Spider-Man 2 Promo Reveals Just How Massive Venom Is https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-2-promo-reveals-venom-massiveness/ Fri, 29 Sep 2023 05:43:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78910 We know that Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 is going to be giving us other villains like Kraven the Hunter and the Lizard, but the cherry on the top of the Sunday is definitely the introduction of this universe’s Venom.

Fans are still guessing all kinds of things about this new Venom, but a new international promo has revealed just how massive this thing is compared to the human-sized Spider-Men. Check this out:

While Sony’s movie Venom could pass as a really tall human, it looks like the game’s Venom is a little taller, like a slender version of the Hulk. People are still guessing as to who the identity of this Venom is going to be, and while comic purists say that he has to be Eddie Brock, some think that he’s actually Norman Osborn’s sick son Harry, who was teased way back in the first game.

Though the first Spider-Man game from Insomniac was well-received, the game did get some criticism when it came to the variety of missions and gameplay, which tended to become a bit repetitive. With Miles now a playable character and a whole new gaming system to play the game on, a lot of fans are expecting the sequel to definitely up the ante when it comes to the world of Spider-Man, from the gameplay to the overall narrative.

Fingers crossed they manage to build enough hype for a finished trilogy of games.

Spider-Man 2 launches for the PS5 on Oct. 20.

Spider-Man 2 Gives Overview of Expanded New York City https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-2-overview-of-expanded-new-york-city/ Fri, 15 Sep 2023 11:29:37 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78761 Fans may have been worried for Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 for a while, but we’ve been getting more reveals for the game as the release date draws nearer. Just in, we have a new overview of the city and its expansions of Brooklyn and Queens.

Check this out:

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar narrates a first look at the newly expanded Marvel’s New York and what you can expect from its next-gen open-world gameplay.

Though players can switch between Miles Morales and Peter Parker throughout the game, there are some specific missions that will only be available for a specific Spider-Man. While the game has also teased some villains incoming like Kraven, Lizard, and Venom, the overview does tease some other faces we haven’t met in the game world before.

As for cosmetics, the game teases over 60 outfits for both Miles and Peter, with each coming with customizable looks to really let people go wild with their Spider-Men. Besides established looks from other source material, the game is also said to be providing some original costumes that were exclusively created for the game.

Fans are still crossing their fingers that they’ll be able to control Venom at some point in the game (just like some were able to do in Ultimate Spider-Man), but nothing so far has been confirmed for this title. Hopefully we get a better look at combat soon because the symbiote suit looks like an absolute beast against the Kraven soldiers.

Watch out for Spider-Man 2 when it launches for the PS5 on Oct. 20, 2023.

Spider-Man 2 Drops Character Posters for Kraven, Lizard, and More https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-2-drops-posters-for-kraven-lizard/ Fri, 08 Sep 2023 09:18:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78651 Fans were skeptical about the release of Spider-Man 2 for PS5 since the marketing has been pretty bare, but it looks like the PR team is now looking to remedy that.

Just in, new character posters have been dropped for the game; and besides Miles and Peter, we also have better looks at Kraven the Hunter, the Lizard, and the symbiote suit. Check these out:

https://twitter.com/SpiderMan/status/1699091115050180721

https://twitter.com/MarvelGames/status/1699509024591430118?s=20

It’s still unclear where exactly the symbiote comes from in this timeline, but if events from the first game are to be believed, a lot of fans speculate that it actually comes from Oscorp, and the Venom we see in the trailers isn’t Eddie Brock, but rather Harry Osborn.

While that’s considered to be a huge change in the lore of Spider-Man, the game timeline has not been shy about making any changes; that’s why they killed off Aunt May in the first game. Hopefully we get to see bunch more villains in the actual game, but some are guessing that they are saving the Green Goblin for a third Spider-Man title.

Then again, it would be great if we didn’t have to wait too long for GG, and the next game would just go full multiverse and have Peter and Miles jumping around alternate dimensions. We already know that Insomniac Spider-Man knows about the Spider-Verse, so it would be great if the games could also jump into that. Then again, that’s just my pitch. I’m pretty sure the writers at Insomniac already have things to set-up in mind.

Watch out for Spider-Man 2 when it launches for the PS5 on Oct. 20.

Fans Hilariously React to Spider-Man 2 Revealing ’19-Inches of Venom’ Statue https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-2-revealing-19-inches-of-venom-statue/ Thu, 07 Sep 2023 05:53:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78585 October is almost here, but it feels like marketing for Spider-Man 2 has been kind of slow. What’s funny is, PlayStation has decided to reveal a new exclusive statue of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Venom for the Collector’s Edition, but the caption has led fans to tease whoever made the post.

Here’s the original post:

Immediately fans started making fun of the phrasing in the caption, but it does feel like the marketing team had done it on purpose. It’s odd that anyone would ‘treat themselves to a statue’ at all, but it looks like the poster is in on the joke now and nothing is being taken down.

Already the post has replies like:

Looking at the collection, besides the statue, fans who avail for the Collector’s Edition of Spider-Man 2 will also be getting a steelbook display case as well as the full digital PS5 game. They will also get pre-order bonuses including 2 early unlock costumes for Miles and Peter, 3 skill points, and a web-grabber gadget. Digital Deluxe content also includes 10 unique suits for each Spider-Man, additional photo mode items, and an additional 2 skill points.

No doubt, the massive Venom/Spider-Men statue is the centerpiece of the special edition, and would be a great snag for any Insomniac Spider-Man fan. Let’s just hope we get more reveals soon, because the marketing for the game has been oddly quiet, especially with the release set a month from now.

Watch out for Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 when it launches for the PS5 exclusively on Oct. 20.

Emma Corrin Confirms Her Deadpool 3 Character is a Villain https://www.geekfeed.com/corrin-confirms-her-deadpool-3-character-villain/ Sun, 06 Aug 2023 16:58:20 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78076 We know that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are at the center of Deadpool 3, but the film has also cast a bunch of new faces to play new characters.

One new cast member is Emma Corrin (The Crown), who still has an undisclosed role, but in a recent interview with Empire, she confirms that she’s playing a villain. She says, I feel really excited to play a villain…  haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.”

No details have been released on who Corrin could be playing, but some fans online have been throwing up several different characters including X-Men’s Spiral. Personally, I was suspecting that she was playing Gwen Poole a.k.a. Gwenpool, a character who also had Deadpool’s meta self-awareness. Though that Gwen is no doubt a ‘good guy’ in the comics, she does have an ‘Evil’ alternate version of herself that is able to take her meta-awareness to the next level and actually alter reality—perfect for a character like Deadpool and Wolverine who can’t be defeated physically.

In the same interview, Corrin does admit that she isn’t ‘a Marvel person,’ but she is very eager to be part of the Deadpool franchise. She says, “It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings.”

We don’t know when the film would be ready to give us a look at Corrin’s character officially, but Deadpool 3 is aiming for a release on Nov. 8, 2024. Let’s hope the SAG AFTRA and WGA Strike don’t push it back too far.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Concept Art Shows Alternate Villains Mysterio, Dr. Actual Octopus, and More https://www.geekfeed.com/across-the-spider-verse-concept-art-alternates/ Thu, 27 Jul 2023 11:21:45 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77972 One of the funnest things about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the introduction of multiple Spider-Men, but the movie also has fun looking at the alternate version of Spidey’s villains. We had a look at the alternate Prowler played by Donald Glover, and concept artist Kris Anka shares a look at variants of Mysterio, Doctor Octopus, Shocker, and More.

Here’s his post:

While a lot of fans are already familiar with characters like Doc Ock and Mysterio, Big Wheel is actually an obscure Spider-Man villain who is just a literal big wheel (usually there’s a guy piloting it, but it looks like the wheel here is actually sentient). The Beetle in the comics is also just a character with a specialized suit; kind of like a bug-themed Iron Man.

Admittedly, the villains in Across the Spider-Verse were more of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos, but some are speculating that Beyond the Spider-Verse is going to be pitting multiple Spider-Men against an entire Multiverse of their villains. Then again, it does seem like the clash with the Spot is going to take over the entire plot, and it would be up to Miles to team-up with his Prowler variant to try and save the Multiverse.

For now, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is coming down to be one of the most celebrated comic book films of the year, but after all the controversy surrounding the animators being overworked, fans are hoping that the sequel manages to be easier on the artists this time around—even if it means the film has to be delayed even further.

Beyond the Spider-Verse is expected to come out March next year.
