Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Art Book Reveals More about ‘Miles G. Morales’

A lot of fans were shocked when the end of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse revealed an alternate version of Miles who became the Prowler, but we barely know anything about the character.

According to the art book for the movie, they’re dubbing this alternate Miles as ‘Miles G. Morales (kind of like ‘Peter B. Parker’), and he’s also described as a vigilante in his world.

The description reads:

“This version of the character was never bitten by a radioactive spider and doesn’t have any superpowers, but he has fallen into the role of becoming the vigilante the Prowler, under the tutelage of his Uncle Aaron.”

The word ‘vigilante’ is very key in the description, because this could mean that the alternate Miles is still a force for good, even if he was pretty threatening when we met him at the end of the movie. To contextualize, the Prowler in Miles’ universe is a mercenary hired by the Kingpin; it’s possible this new Prowler still fights dirty, but he wouldn’t be called a vigilante otherwise.

For now, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is aiming for a release next year, but artists who are close to the film have recently come out about the grueling conditions they were subjected to when they made this film—hinting that the movie may not be able to release in 2025.

Though it would be hard to wait longer, I don’t think I can enjoy a movie (or game) knowing that several people had been severely overworked to deliver it.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is slated for a release on March 29, 2024.
