Now Ross is set to have a more major role in Captain America: Brave New World, and he’s been recast with Harrison Ford.

With Marvel doing a recast before with characters like Rhodey a.k.a. War Machine, it’s said that Brave New World is also going to explain the change in Ross’ look from previous films. According to @CanWeGetToast, the exchange between Sam Wilson and Ross is going to go as follows:

Just for a refresher, here’s the scene from Iron Man 2 which addresses the recast of Rhodey with Don Cheadle:

TONY: “Hey buddy. Didn’t expect to see you here.”
RHODEY: “Look, it’s me. I’m here. Deal with it. Let’s move on.”

If anything, I think the lines between Sam and Ross are cheekier, especially with them giving Ross a completely different look; not even attempting to give Ford the moustache or the same kind of hair. That being said, I am eager to watch infamous grump Ford try to fit in with the MCU as a character who isn’t too pleased with superheroes to begin with.

We don’t know when Marvel is going to drop the first teaser for Captain America 4, but with the release set for early 2025, it’s likely we could get something around the latter end of the year—maybe after the release of Deadpool & Wolverine.

For now, Captain America: Brave New World is set to release in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025. You can catch Sam’s journery to becoming Captain America in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.

Leaked LEGO Set Details Reveals Villains for Captain America: Brave New World https://www.geekfeed.com/villains-for-captain-america-brave-new-world/ Thu, 04 Jan 2024 10:19:10 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80362 Despite being cast as the next Captain America, we have barely seen any of Anthony Mackie in the MCU. The last time he was onscreen was back in 2021 with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and now word is going around that reshoots are currently ongoing for his solo film Captain America: Brave New World.

We don’t know when Marvel Studios is going to give us our first official look at the movie yet, but some LEGO set details may have revealed the villain for the movie. Be warned though, this could be a huge spoiler.

As confirmed by 1414falconfan on IG, a LEGO set tie-in with the film will include Sam Wilson’s Captain America, a new Falcon, and Red Hulk. Here’s the post:

Rumors of the Red Hulk appearing have been going around way since the film has been cast. Harrison Ford will be taking over the part of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross for the late William Hurt, and we’re also getting the return of The Incredible Hulk side villain Staniel Sterns a.k.a. The Leader played by Tim Blake Nelson. What are the odds that Ross would force the Leader to turn him into the Red Hulk like in the comics? It’s also possible Ross just becomes the Red Hulk unwillingly, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

For now, Brave New World is said to be undergoing reshoots to make the action scenes more bombastic. We don’t know exactly what they’re changing, but fans have been waiting for a while to finally get to see Mackie’s Captain America grace the big screen in his full glory.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.

Artist Renders Full Look at New Captain America Suit Based on Set Photos https://www.geekfeed.com/new-captain-america-suit-based-on-set-photos/ Wed, 24 May 2023 14:02:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76915 Marvel hasn’t officially revealed the look of Anthony Mackie’s new Captain America suit yet, but it has been confirmed that it won’t be the comic-accurate suit that we got in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Set photos have given us glimpses of the suit, and since Marvel hasn’t made an official reveal, some artist online has made a mock-up of what the final suit could look like based on the set leaks.

Check this out:

https://twitter.com/WebHeaded_Josh/status/1659691569652588544

For context, here’s one of the leaked shots of Mackie in costume:

The biggest difference with the TV suit is that they’ve removed the ‘half-cowl’ that was an element lifted from Sam Wilson’s comic Captain America appearance. They’ve also given the outfit a lot less white on the shoulder, opting for some red highlights.

We don’t know why they decided to change the appearance for the movie, but my guess is that they wanted a look that more resembles Steve Rogers’ Captain America get-up, so the adapting of the mantle is more visually recognizable. For all the love that the comic-accurate suit got, it doesn’t really feel like an organic evolution based on the Falcon and Captain America’s onscreen appearances.

We don’t know when Marvel is going to give us our official look at the film yet, but for now, they’re busy in the middle of production. With Jonathan Majors also getting some recent bad press, fans are wondering if Marvel is ready to recast their next big villain before it’s too late.

Captain America: New World Order comes to cinemas on May 3, 2024. You can catch Sam in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.

Set Photos for Captain America: New World Order Reveal Sam Wilson’s New Suit https://www.geekfeed.com/captain-america-new-world-order-set-photos/ Thu, 18 May 2023 11:55:36 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76841 The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had ended with Sam Wilson getting a comic-accurate Captain America suit, but it looks like he’ll be getting something different for his solo movie Captain America: New World Order.

Just in, some set photos reveal Mackie in his new suit, plus new characters, one played by WWE superstar Seth Rollins:

Admittedly, we only get to see the top of Sam’s suit, but you can already see that it doesn’t have the ‘half-helmet’ of the TFATWS suit, and there’s a lot more blue on the torso with a new star symbol on the chest.

With so much build up to Sam getting his suit in his series, a lot of fans are kind of disappointed that he won’t be wearing the suit in the movie. When it comes down to it, Marvel kind of needs new suits every film so they can sell a new action figure, but personally, the comic-accurate suit is kind of hard to pull off onscreen, and I think that audiences could be comfortable with a uniform that looks a lot closer to Steve Rogers’.

Then again, that’s just my guess.

Hopefully we get a full look of the suit soon. If I were to speculate, I think Sam does have the ‘A’ helmet, but it’s nanotech and can be activated when he taps his glasses. I mean, if Ant-Man can get that tech in Quantumania, so can Sam.

Captain America: New World Order comes to theaters on May 3, 2024, but you can catch Mackie in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.

America’s NEXT Ass: Anthony Mackie Teases His New Captain America Costume https://www.geekfeed.com/anthony-mackie-teases-new-captain-america-costume/ Tue, 28 Feb 2023 16:10:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73531 Sam Wilson had gotten his new Wakanda-powered Captain America suit by the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but with every Marvel project, we should always expect a new costume (hence, new action figures).

We don’t have a look at Sam’s outfit for Captain America: New World Order yet, but Anthony Mackie does tease himself being ‘America’s Ass’ next. Talking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via @ernlolsen), Mackie shares:

“I’ve had about four costume fittings, and the round brown is looking delicious in the spandex, baby. That’s all imma say. The round brown is going to make you happy as a peanut butter jelly on a summer day, baby. Y’know what I’m talking about?”

https://twitter.com/etrnlolsen/status/1628804687372685316

Though the Falcon costume in TFATWS is pretty comic-accurate, I was kind of hoping that we got something that felt like a natural progression from his film look—which is mainly just goggles and his wing pack. Maybe I’d like to see him with the ‘A’ helmet, but I honestly thought the final suit he got looks better in comics and doesn’t translate too well with live-action. Then again, that’s just my opinion.

The general plot for Captain America 4 is still unknown, but it’s said that Hulk villain the Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) is going to be an antagonist alongside Thunderbolt Ross (Harrison Ford) who has now been elected as the president of the US.

Captain America: New World Order hits theaters May 3, 2024, but you can catch Mackie in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier  now streaming on Disney+.

Patty Jenkins Drops Out of Cleopatra For Star Wars https://www.geekfeed.com/patty-jenkins-drops-out-of-cleopatra-for-star-wars/ Wed, 08 Dec 2021 08:27:55 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62815 After news had dropped that Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron had been delayed indefinitely, rumors had started spreading that she had been fired over creative differences with Lucasfilm. The good news is, it looks like that won’t be the case, and Jenkins is doing a good show of her commitment to the Star Wars franchise.

Deadline reports that Jenkins has dropped out of her Cleopatra film starring Gal Gadot to focus on Wonder Woman 3 and Rogue Squadron. We don’t have any official updates on WW or RS, but it’s nice to know that Jenkins is willing to commit by dropping some other projects (unlike Taika Waititi, who seems to be saying yes to everything) to focus on her work.

Of course, this doesn’t mean the end for Cleopatra. Though Jenkins is out, the film  will move along, and it’s said that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier director Kari Skogland will be taking over the helm.

We have no idea what kind of tone the film is going for, but it’s possible that it will be closer to Gladiator, what with Cleopatra’s history with Rome and its rulers.

Though Cleopatra has been portrayed famously as a historical seductress, a lot of people forget that she also had amazing political accomplishments. She was the last acting pharaoh of Egypt, and was able to speak multiple languages; and her connections allowed her to influence the Roman government; hands down the original “girl boss”. It’s such a shame that we’re not going to have Jenkins on the project given her phenomenal work on the first Wonder Woman movie. Then again, the filmmaker must need some time to focus on her main projects.

No release dates have been set for Cleopatra, Wonder Woman 3, or Rogue Squadron, but hopefully the projects won’t have any further delays down the line.

Anthony Mackie to Lead Live-Action Twisted Metal Series https://www.geekfeed.com/anthony-mackie-to-lead-live-action-twisted-metal-series/ Fri, 17 Sep 2021 08:14:06 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61535 It’s going to be a while before we get our first look at Anya Taylor-Joy in Furiosa, but Sony is planning to bring us to another fuel-pumped wasteland with a live-action adaptation of the Twisted Metal game series. What’s more, they’ve found someone to be the lead.

As per Variety Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) has been cast as the lead of Twisted Metal and will be working on a treatment from Zombieland and Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Here’s the official description:

The show is about motor-mouthed outsider John Doe (Mackie) who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown named who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck, whom fans of the game will know as Sweet Tooth.

The show is being described as an action comedy, and if you’ve watched TFATWS, you’ll know Mackie is able to pull off a comedic performance as well as an earnest, sincere one. With a Captain America 4 already in development, Twisted Metal should be a great, gritty project for Mackie before he has to have a more wholesome public image for Marvel.

I’m personally excited as Reese and Wernick have an affinity for dark comedy, and this could be the spice that the franchise needs to set it apart from Mad Max.

As of now, no release date has been set for Sony’s Twisted Metal.

Anthony Mackie Receives Flak for Comments on Bucky/Sam Shippers https://www.geekfeed.com/anthony-mackie-receives-flak-for-comments-on-bucky-sam-shippers/ Fri, 18 Jun 2021 15:49:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60133 Though the world celebrated when Anthony Mackie finally took the Captain America mantle by the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mackie has suddenly found himself under some internet scrutiny.

Mackie has gotten some backlash after an interview with Variety quoted him commenting on the internet fandom that wants to see his character Sam and Bucky get together romantically. He says:

“It used to be guys can be friends, we can hang out, and it was cool…You can’t do that anymore, because something as pure and beautiful as homosexuality has been exploited by people who are trying to rationalize themselves.”

For now, the internet is trying to make sense of what Mackie was trying to articulate with his statement, but some have boiled his comments down to some poor choice of words. If anything, Mackie is completely valid when he says that it’s okay for media to portray men having close platonic relationships; but to refer to the side of the fandom that wants Sam and Bucky to get together as ‘exploitative’ is where people start to raise eyebrows.

https://twitter.com/_MercyWest_/status/1405776235683139591

https://twitter.com/MarvelComicGal/status/1405772045791612939

Personally, I think this is the case of Mackie not being familiar with Marvel fandom culture. Sure there are some fans that want Bucky and Sam to get together, but a lot of those fans are well aware that it couldn’t happen. It’s just a case of sharing fantasies online—and calling that exploitative seems to teeter close to homophobia.

If anything, Mackie should just let the fans fantasize what they want, as much as they want. There’s really no harm in any of that.

For now, you can catch Mackie in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.

Loki Series ‘Worked Really Hard’ to Make the Character Genderfluid https://www.geekfeed.com/loki-series-worked-really-hard-to-make-the-character-genderfluid/ Thu, 10 Jun 2021 14:28:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59981 It’s been a long wait since the release of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and now Disney+ is ready to premiere their Loki series. With Disney taking small steps toward representation, it’s recently been confirmed that the series will have the God of Mischief identify as genderfluid.

Talking to Inverse, series writer Michael Waldron talks about how they took a lot of care when it comes to portraying Loki’s gender. He says:

“I know how many people identify with Loki in particular and are eager for that representation, especially with this character… We worked really hard.”

While the character is ‘coming out’ as genderfluid in the show, it’s actually something that’s been portrayed in the comics before; as well as the official Norse mythology. Loki actor himself Tom HIddleston has said, “It’s always been there in the comics for some time and in the history of the character for hundreds, if not thousands of years.”

With Disney being called out for queer-baiting before, it’s very likely that the Loki series will be more specific when it comes to its portrayal onscreen. It’s no mistake that a promo photo from Loki has the character’s sex labelled as ‘fluid’ and some think that this could be a hint at Lady Loki, who is said to be making her debut in the series.

Marvel loki gender fluid

After The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’s return to the Marvel formula, a lot of fans are hoping that Loki manages to set itself apart from previously released Marvel shows. It’s going to be interesting to see how time is meddled with, and fans are hoping we get some great cameos down the line.

Catch Loki when it premieres on Disney+ on June 9.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Showrunner Wanted a Spider-Man Cameo https://www.geekfeed.com/the-falcon-and-the-winter-soldier-showrunner-wanted-a-spider-man-cameo/ Sat, 01 May 2021 16:47:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59312 The Falcon and The Winter Soldier had ended with a bang, and Sam Wilson is now officially the MCU’s Captain America. While the show did have a cameo from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, showrunner Malcolm Spellman reveals that he wanted a bigger guest appearance while he was developing the show.

In an interview with Inverse, Spellman reveals that he wanted an appearance from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, but Marvel head Kevin Feige vetoed the idea, saying that it didn’t ‘occur organically.’ Spellman explained:

“Of course. Then Kevin Feige tells you, ‘No. Stop it.’ Listen, when you first show up to these projects, in your mind you think you’re gonna get to use everybody in the MCU. But Marvel always asks, ‘Does this person belong in this story? You cannot just geek out and put all of our characters in your project because you like them. They have to occur organically.’ So Spider-Man did not make it.”

It’s interesting that Spellman should pick Spider-Man, as actors Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have been notorious for making fun of Holland during press interviews and con appearances. We don’t know where Spellman would have put Peter Parker, but it certainly would have been fun to see Falcon and the Winter Soldier have some kind of rematch with him. Perhaps in Captain America 4?

For now, Spellman has been hired to develop the next Captain America film starring Mackie. We don’t know what the plot could be about, but it would be great to see the return of Zemo and possibly the resurgence of HYDRA.

Catch The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now available on Disney+.

Snowpiercer Writer to Pen Marvel’s Ironheart Series https://www.geekfeed.com/snowpiercer-writer-to-pen-marvels-ironheart-series/ Fri, 30 Apr 2021 11:04:10 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59283 Though it seems that Marvel has passed the Iron Man torch to Spider-Man, Marvel is working on a Disney+ series focused on Tony Stark’s comic successor—Ironheart a.k.a. Riri Williams. The show has already cast Dominique Thorne in the lead role, and now we have news on the show’s writer.

As per Variety, Marvel’s Ironheart has tapped Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer, Amazing Stories) as head writer of the series. We don’t have any more details besides that, but we’re sure to get them as development trudges along. Besides her TV credits, Hodge has also published two books, and plays titled Chasing Mehserle and Mirrors in Every Corner. She is also a founding member of the hip hop collective knows as The Getback.

In the comics, Riri Williams is an MIT student who was able to reverse-engineer the Iron Man armor and make a suit of her own. In the comics, she had actually interacted with Tony Stark who encouraged her to pursue superheroing, but with Stark dead in the MCU, Riri’s origin is primed for a rewrite.

With The Falcon and The Winter Soldier being open about racial issues and inequality, it’s going to be interesting to see Riri claim the Ironheart mantle without undergoing some significant struggle. It would be great if we could actually get to watch Tony’s protégé Spider-Man interact with Riri, but with Holland being such a high-profile actor now, I wouldn’t be surprised if he couldn’t find the time to make an appearance.

No release date has been set for Ironheart, but the next Marvel show, Loki, premieres on Disney+ on June 11.

Anthony Mackie found out about Captain America 4 via a Fan in the Grocery Store https://www.geekfeed.com/anthony-mackie-found-out-about-captain-america-4-via-a-fan-in-the-grocery-store/ Wed, 28 Apr 2021 11:39:34 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59261 Fans saw Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) embrace the Captain America mantle by the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and everyone’s curious when they could get to watch the new cap on the big screen. Fans cheered when news came out that Captain America 4 was a go; but you know who didn’t know about it? Captain America himself.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Anthony Mackie revealed that he found out about the development of the fourth Captain America movie when a fan told him about it in a grocery store. He says:

“I literally found out yesterday in a grocery store… The checkout guy named Dwayne, a cool cat, he’s like, ‘Yo, man. Is this real?!” [holds up a cellphone] “I’m like, ‘I haven’t heard anything.’ That’s what I love about working for Marvel. They call you, they’re like, ‘Come to L.A. We wanna tell you what’s going on.’ So, I’m excited to see what happens, but I haven’t heard anything.”

While we don’t have a plot for Captain America 4 yet, we do know that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman is set to write the script with TFATWS staff writer Dalan Musson. Though she had directed the series, there is no word on whether Kari Skogland will be tapped to direct Captain America 4.

Seeing that Captain America was part of the Marvel Trinity for the Infinity Saga, we should expect the same kind of hype to be built around Mackie’s character. So far, he seems to be doing a great job, and he definitely has his own take on being Cap that’s not necessarily Steve Rogers’.

No release date has been set for Captain America 4, but you can catch The Falcon and The Winter Sodier now on Disney+.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: No, Fans Didn’t Bully Wyatt Russell Off Social Media https://www.geekfeed.com/the-falcon-and-the-winter-soldier-no-fans-didnt-bully-wyatt-russell-off-social-media/ Mon, 05 Apr 2021 16:17:45 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=58973 We’re only 3 episodes into The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and a lot of people just love to hate the new Captain America a.k.a. John Walker. What’s terrible is, some fans who can’t separate fantasy from reality are also spewing out hate for actor Wyatt Russell online, and though some are claiming they’ve bullied him off social media, that simply isn’t the case.

Word was going around that Russell had deleted his Instagram account after relentless bullying, but as it turns out, he never had an IG account in the first place. Here’s a post:

Though Russell never had an account, multiple other people have been spouting hate on his fan accounts and Marvel posts about John Walker.

Though the character of Walker was made to be hated by the fans, a lot of people have been calling out the toxic attitude of some to harass actors in roles. This is no stranger to Russell, as some Star Wars fans have notoriously bullied actresses like Kelly Marie Tran and Daisy Ridley off social media. If we want to go back to 20 years ago, the same vitriol was targeted toward SW prequel actors Jake Lloyd (young Anakin Skywalker) and Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks).

With Russell having no social media, it’s probably best for his piece of mind. If anything, I think The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is going to make his character more well-rounded. We could hate him now, but I think there’s a chance that we might find ourselves rooting for him down the line.

For now, catch The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.

Sebastian Stan Has One Condition to Play Luke Skywalker https://www.geekfeed.com/sebastian-stan-has-one-condition-to-play-luke-skywalker/ Sat, 03 Apr 2021 00:49:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=58911 While Sebastian Stan makes for one great Winter Soldier in the MCU, there has been a big fan push for him to play a younger Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. This has been brought up to Stan during an interview with Good Morning America, and he reveals his conditions if he’s going to take over the character.

When asked by GMA about taking on the Luke Skywalker role, Stan replied, “If Mark Hamill calls me personally to tell me that he feels inclined to share this role with me, then I’ll believe it. Until then, I won’t believe it.”

https://twitter.com/GMA/status/1375068972383625221?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1375068972383625221%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpeople.com%2Fmovies%2Fsebastian-stan-wont-play-luke-skywalker-unless-mark-hamill-personally-calls-him-to-approve%2F

It’s worth noting that Hamill himself has pointed out the uncanny resemblance between his younger self and Stan (GMA even sharing Hamill’s tweet during the broadcast). We don’t know what Lucasfilm plans to do with the character down the line, but there’s definitely a lot of time for Hamill to officially pass the torch.

After fans were divided with the CG Luke Skywalker that appeared in The Mandalorian Season 2, there has been a call to just recast the role—much like what they did with Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo or Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian. While Hamill has pretty much done all that he can as Luke Skywalker, it would be great to see the further adventures of Luke with someone as competent as Stan.

Here’s the synopsis of The Mandalorian:
The travels of a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.

We don’t know if he’ll eventually become a Jedi, but you can catch Stan as Bucky Barnes in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.
