The series is set to come out on Netflix later this month, and we have a new trailer. Watch this:

The official logline reads:

“The new epic chapter in the battle for Castle Grayskull. The newly mechanized Skeletor, armed with the might of Motherboard, attacks the heart of Eternia while Prince Adam grapples with a new responsibility and what that means for him as He-Man! Adam is forced to choose between the scepter or the sword, and a life as either the King or the Champion.

Meanwhile, the new Sorceress Teela searches for the secret of Snake Magic in the mists of Darksmoke to rebuild a magic realm and help He-Man hold off the greatest threat Eternia has ever faced: the return of the despot Hordak, the ruthless leader of the Horde Empire!”

We should expect the series to follow where Revelation ended, but it does seem that this show could deal with some kind of multiverse situation, what with a returning Orko fighting alongside a character who looks like the live-action movie’s Gwildor.

With Hordak also making an appearance, it’s likely that the series could be bringing in He-Man’s equivalent in the form of She-Ra—who is the nemesis of Hordak in her show.

Like I said, Kevin Smith eventually got bashed online for Revelations as it turned He-Man “woke” by telling a story focused on Teela. However, anyone who actually did watch the show thinks that it’s a great follow-up to the cartoon with fantastic treatment of the characters.

Let’s hope Revolution doesn’t get drowned in the hater content online. Catch Masters of the Universe: Revolution when it comes out on Jan. 25 on Netflix.

He-Man Takes on Scare Glow in Clip from Masters of the Universe: Revolution https://www.geekfeed.com/clip-from-masters-of-the-universe-revolution/ Tue, 03 Oct 2023 09:31:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78969 Netflix may have rebooted He-Man for kids with their 3D-animated version of the character, but they also have an alternate He-Man property that builds on the original cartoon from the 80s. Masters of the Universe: Revolution is set to premiere in 2024, and we have a new clip from the series with He-Man taking on Scare Glow.

Watch this:

The clip basically has Adam/He-Man and King Randor taking on Scare Glow, a villain we met back in MOTU: Revelation. We don’t exactly know the context of the scene, but we can definitely see the quality of the action animation, and it’s nothing short of spectacular.

Though the show is supposed to be a follow up of Revelation, it does look like some of the voice cast has been mixed up, particularly with Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Teela. The show did keep Chris Wood and Mark Hamill for He-Man and Skeletor.

When Revelation first came out, a lot of fans had review-bombed the series for being “woke” what with the death of He-Man and the refocusing of the story to Teela, but anyone who stuck around till the end can say that the series is definitely a great follow-up to the original cartoon and the treatment of the characters has definitely been interesting.

No specific release date has been set for Masters of the Universe: Revolution, but you can watch for it to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2024.

Live-Action He-Man Movie Officially Dead at Netflix https://www.geekfeed.com/he-man-movie-officially-dead-at-netflix/ Mon, 24 Jul 2023 17:00:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77888 Netflix was able to release two He-Man cartoons over the past few years, but that was considered to be a warm up for their upcoming film adaptation. Too bad for anyone looking to enter Eternia again though, because the film has reportedly been cancelled.

According to Variety, Netflix has opted to cancel their He-Man and the Masters of the Universe project after having already spent $30 million on pre-production. We don’t have any specifics as to how the film got to the cancellation point, but the issue was said to have been largely because of the budget—after all, you can’t make a sci-fi/fantasy project like He-Man without dishing out some Star Wars-level money anymore.

Originally, the movie was supposed to be directed by The Lost City helmers Aaron and Adam Nee, and Kyle Allen (The Path) was attached to play He-Man; before that, it was Black Adam star Noah Centineo who was expected to play Prince Adam.

Now Mattel is said to be looking for a new studio to take on the project. After shifting over from studios like Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures, maybe someone else would like to take on the 80s property. Who knows, maybe with all the hype surrounding the Barbie film, maybe some studio will want to jump in on He-Man while the going is good. It might go nice in Legendary’s portfolio after they wrap up Dune: Part Two later this year.

No release date has been set for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, but you can check out several cartoon revivals including Masters of the Universe: Revelation now streaming on Netflix.

Preview for Masters of the Universe: Revelation – Part 2 Spoils A LOT of the Story https://www.geekfeed.com/preview-for-masters-of-the-universe-revelation-part-2-spoils-a-lot-of-the-story/ Fri, 29 Oct 2021 15:58:03 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62189 The first part of Masters of the Universe: Revelation had ended in a huge cliffhanger and dropped fans’ jaws when Skeletor got hold of the Power Sword. Now we have the second part coming this November, and boy does the new trailer spoil a lot.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Check out the Revelation trailer down here:

We were all wondering what would happen after Skeletor (or Skele-God) got hold of the Power Sword, but the trailer reveals that they manage to save Adam, and that he had the power to turn into He-Man by himself all along.

I know it feels like a huge spoiler, but I’m hoping that this all just happens on the first episode, and there’s a lot more story to watch out for.

I can’t help but think that this is a knee-jerk reaction to the review-bombing of the first part of Revelation. While the show was critically praised for taking a bold direction with the franchise, a lot of angry fans had taken to the internet to criticize the show for “killing off” Skeletor and He-Man in the first episode in order to shine light on “SJW” hero Teela.

If you manage to get past all the internet hate, you’ll find that Revelation is actually a pretty great show; a love letter to the original franchise filled with meta jokes and memorable character moments. It’s silly how the show managed to take Orko, one of the original’s corniest characters, and make him one of the emotional touchstones of the entire season.

The war for Eternia culminates in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATION, an innovative and action-packed animated series that picks up where the iconic characters left off decades ago. After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered. And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes, and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.

The second part of Masters of the Universe: Revelation comes to Netflix on Nov. 23.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation Part 2 Release Date Revealed https://www.geekfeed.com/masters-of-the-universe-revelation-part-2-release-date-revealed/ Thu, 14 Oct 2021 15:21:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61961 Kevin Smith had brought back the world of He-Man with Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and the finale of the first part had left fans’ jaws dropped with Skeletor claiming the Power Sword. Now the second part is set to come out later this year, and we have a release date.

Smith announced on Twitter:

Though the original He-Man was a kid-friendly show, Smith had opted to age up Revelation and actually show us a series with some actual consequences—much to the dismay of some “true” fans. Here we actually got to see He-Man and Skeletor die, and we get to follow side characters like Teela and Evil-Lyn as they take the spotlight and try to restore magic to Eternia.

If you get past all the “anti-woke” criticism, the show actually has He-Man at the very heart of everything, and we actually get a character exploration of Prince Adam and who he is without the Sword of Power. What’s more, Skeletor gets his full-on villain moment when he’s the one who ends up claiming he “Has the Power.”

It’s all pretty crazy, and it’s such a shame that some people won’t give the series a chance because of their anti-woke stances. If anything, there are still a good chunk of fans that want #MoreMOTU and I can’t wait to see what Smith has in store for the second part, what with all the huge shake-ups he’s done with the characters.

Here’s the synopsis for Revelation:

A radical return to Eternia, REVELATION is a direct sequel series to the classic era of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. … But after a ferocious final battle forever fractures Eternia, it’s up to Teela to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to prevent the end of the Universe!

Part 2 of Masters of the Universe: Revelation comes out on Netflix on Nov. 23.

He-Man Gets CG Reboot in New Masters of the Universe https://www.geekfeed.com/he-man-gets-cg-reboot-in-new-masters-of-the-universe/ Sun, 22 Aug 2021 10:02:31 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61113 Neckbeards got angry at Kevin Smith for “ruining” He-Man with Masters of the Universe: Revelations, but that show is nothing compared to how Netflix has rebooted the entire franchise with their upcoming CG-animated show.

Watch the first trailer for Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe:

Here’s the official description:

He-Man and his powerful friends learn what it means to be a hero while battling the evil forces of Skeletor and his minions.

At first glance, you can see that this is a radical change from the original cartoon as well as the 2002 reboot. There looks to be a deviation from the magic/fantasy elements with more focus on sci-fi, that’s why Orko is a robot.

You’ll also notice that He-Man’s ensemble has changed from muscle-bound adults to kids who look just like Adam. The show also looks to have dropped Cringer’s ‘scaredy cat’ persona.

While I can already imagine a lot of people who are angry at the show, it’s worth putting to mind that the original He-Man franchise exists to sell toys. We don’t know if kids will latch on to this property yet, but if they love it, and if they can get some neat toys out of it, then the reboot would have done its job.

Personally, I love the fantasy/sci-fi aesthetic of the original, and that’s the image of He-Man that’s lasted through time (and is embraced by Revelation). Hopefully the live-action movie will be closer to the original cartoon (whenever it comes out, that is).

Catch He-Man and the Masters of the Universe when it premieres on Netflix on Sept. 16.

He-Man Actor Gives Inside Look at Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation https://www.geekfeed.com/he-man-actor-gives-inside-look-at-netflixs-masters-of-the-universe-revelation/ Wed, 21 Jul 2021 16:23:12 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60622 Kevin Smith’s He-Man reboot/sequel is set to premiere on Netflix by the end of the week, and a lot of fans are excited for the return to Eternia. Now we have a new inside look at the series hosted by He-Man actor Chris Wood.

Check out the video the He-Man reboot down here:

Wood confirms the timeline of Revelation which takes place right after the events of the original cartoon. We also get some basic background on He-Man himself, what his powers are, who his allies are in the fight against Skeletor.

While this hasn’t been confirmed, the trailer does hint that we won’t be seeing much of He-Man in the actual series. With the Sword of Power broken, Prince Adam won’t be able to transform into He-Man, and it’s possible that the show could be exploring Adam as he tries to find a way to be useful to Eternia without his powers. Some also guess that this is the reason why “He-Man” was dropped from the title.

Again, this is just speculation, but I expect the series to shake things up a bit when it comes to the story. Sure the animation and updated designs are great, but without a great story, what’s the point in returning to Eternia at all?

Though Kevin Smith can get kind of corny at times, I’m excited to see what he has to bring to the table with Revelation. I just have one small hope that we get some of that classic quickfire dialogue that we got from Clerks or Mall Rats.

Catch the first half of Masters of the Universe: Revelation when it premieres on Netflix on July 23.

Masters of the Universe: Revelations Trailer Reveals More Plot https://www.geekfeed.com/masters-of-the-universe-revelations-trailer-reveals-more-plot/ Wed, 07 Jul 2021 09:21:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60395 We don’t know when we’re going to watch the live-action reboot of He-Man from Netflix, but the streaming platform is set to launch Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe series this month. Just in, we have a new trailer, and it gives us a better look at the story.

Check out the trailer for the new Masters of the Universe series down here:

Though a lot of fans were expecting He-Man to be at the center of the series, it looks like the show will actually have Prince Adam lose his ability to transform into He-Man; due to the breaking of the Sword of Grayskull.

While other fans online have already claimed the series ruined because of Teela supposedly becoming the main character, I think this just means that the show is going to be focusing on the entire ensemble; hence the name Masters of the Universe without He-Man in the title.

Plus, the exclusion of He-Man offers the series a chance to explore the character of Prince Adam. After all, Prince Adam is only ever useful whenever he turns into He-Man; without the Sword of Power, the Adam will have to find another way to be relevant, seeing as everyone else around him doesn’t need the sword to be useful.

As a fan of Smith, I’m really excited to see what he has in store for Masters of the Universe. After the kid-friendly She-Ra, I’m ready to jump in on the 80s heavy metal fantasy/sci-fi world of Eternia.

Part 1 of Masters of the Universe: Revelation comes to Netflix on July 23.

He-Man has the Power in First Trailer for Masters of the Universe: Revelation https://www.geekfeed.com/he-man-has-the-power-in-first-trailer-for-masters-of-the-universe-revelation/ Fri, 11 Jun 2021 16:35:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60018 We haven’t had any significant updates on the live-action He-Man movie, but Netflix has just dropped a new trailer for Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and it looks insane.

Watch the trailer for He-Man here:

The series is said to pick-up where the original 80s cartoon left off and aims to resolve all the loose ends concerning our heroes (and villains) of Eternia. While some were thinking that this could tie-in with the previously finished She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, the look and feel of this series seems to confirm that that won’t be the case.

Despite continuing the canon of the original, Revelations has done well to update on the designs of all the characters, and He-Man and Skeletor just look amazing; heck, all the characters look amazing, and even Orko had his time to shine.

You also can’t help but feel the 80s hype with the use of the song Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler. Now fans are just wondering if the new He-Man series has enough balls to actually work in What’s Going On from the infamous meme.

The studio behind the series, Powerhouse Animation has been in charge of several other Netflix shows including Castlevania and Blood of Zeus. If those shows are any indication, you can bet that Revelations is going to have some topnotch animated action scenes.

With He-Man considered to be one of the biggest things in the 80s, this show could very well be a great nostalgia trip for original fans as well as a jumping point for people unfamiliar with the series.

Catch the first part of Masters of the Universe: Revelation when it premieres on Netflix on July 23.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Smith said:

“Everything I’ve ever worked on in like 27 years, this is easily in the top five of my favorite, most satisfying projects… When I die, they’ll be like, ‘He made Clerks, remember?’ ‘Cause that’s the most memorable thing I think I’ve ever done. I think this has a running shot at being like, ‘He made Clerks and that one cartoon that one time.'”

It’s also worth noting that the show has a star-studded cast. Besides Chris Wood (Supergirl) as the lead character He-Man, the show has also landed Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) for Evil-Lyn, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) for Teela, and Mark Hamill (Star Wars) for the role of main villain Skeletor.

While this is a reboot of the original series, it’s said that Revelations will also seek to tie up the loose ends of the original show. With the original He-Man fans having grown up now, Smith and his team are ready to tell more mature stories set in the world of Eternia. Smith says, “We get to see them engage not just in clashing swords, but in far deeper conversations than we’ve ever seen them before…  We get to tell stories of abuse. We get to kind of tell stories of isolation, grief.”

Catch Masters of the Universe: Revelations when it comes out on Netflix July 23.
