With the recent reveal of Star Wars Outlaws from Ubisoft though, it has been confirmed that Han Solo’s first love is gearing for a comeback.

According to GameInformer (via @CultureCrave), Lady Qi’ra is expected to run into the game’s protaginist Kay Vell, as one of the main figures of the Crimson Dawn syndicate. We don’t know what exactly her stand will be around in this time, but we do know in Rebels that Maul is already dead by the timeline of this game—which is set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Though she started out as an urchin in Solo, Qi’ra eventually worked her way up the ranks of Crimson Dawn, working directly under Maul. We don’t know what her journey has been since, but they did manage to expand her story via the comics. So far, her role in the galaxy is still pretty much up in the air.

Besides Crimson Dawn, Outlaws is also said to be featuring more syndicates in the Star Wars universe, both old and new. We have the Hutt Cartel and the Pyke Syndicate, plus a new hive mind clan called the Ashiga who are said to be based in the world of Kijimi (introduced in The Rise of Skywalker).

Personally, I’m still holding out for a Qi’ra and Han reunion in live-action, but for now, I guess Outlaws is the next best thing we have.

Star Wars Outlaws launches on Aug. 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

New Secret Invasion Featurette Puts the Spotlight on Nick Fury https://www.geekfeed.com/new-secret-invasion-featurette-centers-nick-fury/ Fri, 23 Jun 2023 08:54:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77406 Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been around since the first Iron Man, but he’s mostly played a supporting character around heavyweights like Captain America and Captain Marvel.

Now Fury is set to be his own central character in the upcoming series Secret Invasion, and we have a new featurette highlighting just how close this story will be to Fury this time around. Check this out:

Though Samuel L. Jackson is at the very center of the movie, the film has surprisingly gathered some major stars to appear in the show. Besides guest stars like Cobie Smulders and Martin Freeman, the show has also nabbed Olivia Coleman (The Favourite) and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Solo: A Star Wars Story); they’ve also brought back Ben Mendelsohn to reprise his role as Talos from Captain Marvel.

Admittedly, hype for the movie seems to be at a low for Marvel, but some fans think this could be the franchise trying something new this time around. With She-Hulk: Attorney at Law leaning more into a traditional sitcom as compared to other Marvel series; some think that the change in marketing could mean Secret Invasion could be promising a different kind of story set in the MCU.

Then again, we have been wrong before. Here’s the official synopsis:

“In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”

Secret Invasion is now streaming on Disney+.

Nick Fury Prepares for War in New Teaser for Secret Invasion https://www.geekfeed.com/nick-fury-in-new-teaser-for-secret-invasion/ Tue, 23 May 2023 13:12:06 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76903 Nick Fury may have sat out the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, but he’s set to be the center of the spotlight with the upcoming Secret Invasion series.

The show is set to premiere in June, and we have a new Fight teaser that gives us a good look at the action and espionage we can expect in the story. Check this out:

It’s not entirely clear what role every player has in the series, but it does seem that Olivia Coleman’s character is someone that’s above Fury in the hierarchy. It’s unclear exactly what Fury’s role is when it comes to SHIELD, but a lot of people in his circle are coming back including Agent Hill (Cobie Smulders) and the Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn).

We also have a new character in the form of Emilia Clarke. She may not have been able to reprise the role of Qi’Ra from Solo: A Star Wars Story, but her Disney connections got her in this Marvel miniseries.

With She-Hulk opening the door for what a Marvel series could be, I’m hoping that Secret Invasion manages to really shake-up the formula. I mean, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel had their moments, but they were both pretty typical superhero origin films. Hopefully Secret Invasion will bring some Andor-level storytelling to the MCU.

“In Marvel Studios’ new series ‘Secret Invasion,’ set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”

Secret Invasion premieres on Disney+ on June 21.

Possible Synopsis for Secret Invasion Leaked? https://www.geekfeed.com/possible-synopsis-for-secret-invasion-leaked/ Tue, 06 Sep 2022 06:02:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70884 Emilia Clarke may not be in House of the Dragon, but she’s going to be in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Secret Invasion series for Disney+. We don’t have an official look at the show yet, but we may have gotten the series synopsis.

This comes from@marvel_update3s on Twitter:

We don’t know how legitimate the leak us, but the story pretty much makes sense when it comes to the source material and how the skrulls have been introduced in the MCU canon.

While fans were sure that the skrulls were up to no good in Captain Marvel, it has been revealed that it was actually the Kree that had been abusive while the skrulls had been more peaceful people. Seeing as how the skrulls are actually just as capable of evil in the comics, it’s possible that Secret Invasion will finally pull on that thread and reveal to us that every race has potential for great good or great evil—then again, that’s just my pitch.

Though we don’t have a look at Secret Invasion yet, some fans are hopeful that the upcoming D23 Expo will shed some more light on the show. We’ve known for a while that Samuel L. Jackson will be returning as Nick Fury, but there is some mystery about Emilia Clarke’s character. Is she going to be a skrull that turns on her race? Or will she be a hero from the comics?

We’ll just have to wait and see.

No release date has been set for Secret Invasion, but some guess that the show could come to Disney+ sometime early 2023.

Emilia Clarke’s Character in Secret Invasion Revealed? https://www.geekfeed.com/emilia-clarkes-secret-invasion-character-revealed/ Thu, 18 Aug 2022 07:58:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70594 Marvel Studios is set to launch She-Hulk: Attorney at Law this week, but we know that there are other Marvel projects in the pipeline that we have yet to get a look at. One project is Secret Invasion, and we may have info on who one Game of Thrones star is playing in the show.

As per The Cosmic Circus, Emilia Clarke, who has been cast in a mystery role in the show, could be playing a Skrull named G’iah. We don’t have any official details for the character in the series, but in the comics, G’iah helped the Skrulls invade Earth, and switched sides after she realized what brutal lengths her people would resort to for domination.

Though we did get a look at Skrulls in Captain Marvel, it’s revealed that the characters weren’t brutal at all, and that they were actually being oppressed by the Kree—who had brainwashed Carol Danvers into fighting for them.

Of course, a lot of fans thought that this was a disappointing reveal for the Skrulls, seeing as they were considered a major antagonist in the comics at one point.

Though we’ve met Skrulls before, I think Secret Invasion is Marvel’s attempt at rewriting the characters so  that we can see that there are heroes and villains from the same race. So far though, the Talos character played by Ben Mendelsohn, has been nothing but a delight, and he’s been helping Nick Fury secure the planet from any other-worldly invasions.

No release date has been set for Secret Invasion, but hopefully we can get some kind of update after the premiere of She-Hulk on Aug. 17.

Emilia Clarke Wants to Reprise Qi’ra Role from Solo: A Star Wars Story https://www.geekfeed.com/emilia-clarke-wants-to-reprise-qira-role-from-solo-a-star-wars-story/ Thu, 24 Jun 2021 09:01:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60208 Though Emilia Clarke has signed on with Marvel Studios for Secret Invasion, she had already teamed up with Disney in the past for Solo: A Star Wars Story. With Clarke’s character Qi’ra not having a fully realized arc, Clarke has expressed that she would want to reprise the role for the future.

While promoting her upcoming comic Mother of Madness to THR, Clarke explains,“[Qi’ra’s] the one that has the most unfinished business… I really had pages about what her life was and what it would be afterwards.” Despite Clarke’s enthusiasm, she has confirmed that Disney hasn’t contacted her about reprising the role. She continues, But I’m afraid I’ve heard nothing of [Disney+] being the case, so maybe I’ll just write it and send it to them. I’ll be like, ‘Hey guys, I’ve got a few ideas.’”

In Solo, it was revealed that Han Solo had a childhood sweetheart named Qi’ra who had been sold to the gang Crimson Dawn. By the end of the film though, Qi’ra rises to the top of the ranks, but leaves Han to fend for himself.

With Solo underperforming in the box office, plans for a sequel were scrapped, but it was said that the Solo films would build up to a war between the crime syndicates. We would also get a conclusion between the arc of Qi’ra and Han.

Disney or Lucasfilm have no plans for a Solo sequel or series, but with growing fan appreciation for the film (and the #MakeSolo2Happen movement), there is hope that we could see more of Qi’ra, Han, and the other underworld Star Wars characters along the way.

For now, you can catch Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story now on Disney+.

Emilia Clarke Announces New Comic MOM: Mother of Madness https://www.geekfeed.com/emilia-clarke-announces-new-comic-mom-mother-of-madness/ Thu, 22 Apr 2021 09:28:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59221 From screen to page, the Mother of Dragon Emilia Clarke has just announced that he has been working on her own original comic for the past two years. MOM: Mother of Madness is a ‘Deadpool-esque’ story that is set to come out in July, and Entertainment Weekly has given us a first look.

Here’s the cover:

The story of MOM is said to follow, “a single mom named Maya who discovers she possesses freakish superpowers, and uses them to take on a secret cabal of human traffickers.”

The miniseries was written by Clarke with some help from her ‘comic guru’ Marguerite Bennett. Clarke describes the story:

“We’re always calling mothers superheroes, and I’m like, what if they were? What if they legitimately were superheroes?… Maya has had a very hard life, and she finds herself in a place where everything that makes her unique, she hates and is ashamed about. It’s only in the discovery of her powers that she finds her true acceptance of who she is.”

You can check out some of the MOM preview pages here.

MOM’s creative team also includes illustrator Leila Leiz and cover artist Jo Ratcliffe. Clarke, however, has also done a lot of work on the material herself, coming up with Maya’s backstory as well as her costume (Maya’s mask is what you see on the cover).

This announcement is really good timing for Clarke, who has just recently joined Marvel’s Secret Invasion series. Though she is a fantasy icon, it’s going to be interesting to see how she breaks it in with the comic book fandom.

MOM: Mother of Madness from Image Comics is set to debut on July 21.
