A lot of fans were excited about the idea, but it looks like it won’t be pushing forward.

According to THR, Yeun won’t be appearing as the Sentry in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie. The reason for Yeun’s exit is said to be because the production had led to numerous delays thanks to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA Strike, and Yeun’s schedule won’t allow him to do the film.

The Sentry is relatively a newer character in the comics compared to the likes of Iron Man and Captain America. He is said to have the power of ‘a million exploding suns’ but the catch is that nobody remembers him, and his alter ego Bob Reynolds is the only one who has memories of being the Sentry.

It’s kind of like a Fight Club-meets-Superman kind of situation; and it would have been the Thunderbolts’ mission to try and stop him in the film—well, that and securing adamantium in the newly discovered Celestial being that popped out of the ocean way back in Eternals.

We don’t know how Marvel is going to deal with Yeun’s exit (or if the exit is even really happening), but I can imagine them either recasting the role or holding out and changing the character into someone else entirely.

We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, I think everyone is more excited to see Yeun enter the MCU as compared to a fan-favorite character from the ‘00s that hasn’t really made a dent in the popular culture.

Thunderbolts is expected to release on July 25, 2025.

Neill Blomkamp Takes on Video Games in Trailer for Gran Turismo https://www.geekfeed.com/neill-blomkamp-takes-on-for-gran-turismo/ Thu, 04 May 2023 13:57:34 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76597 The Need for Speed movie franchise may not have taken off, but PlayStation Studios is ready for an adaptation of another racing IP, Gran Turismo.

Just in, we have a trailer for the GT movie, and it stars David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Archie Madekwe. Check it:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional racecar driver.

Though recent PlayStation adaptations like Uncharted and The Last of Us are based on completely fictional stories, the Gran Turismo film is the first one to actually be based on true events; Jann Mardenborough did start off as a Gran Turismo gamer, and after winning a competition, he ended up racing cars for real.

The story is actually pretty crazy, and it’s going to be interesting to see the ins and outs of Mardenborough’s training and how he was able to translate his gaming reflexes to real-life. No doubt, some elements of the story will probably be exaggerated for dramatic effect, but as long as the film is a fun ride, I’m sure nobody will be taking issue.

Let’s also not forget that Neill Blomkamp is in the helm of the film. Though he’s known best for his work on sci-fi with films like Chappie, District 9, and Elysium, I’m excited to see him tackle a sports movie this time around.

Catch Gran Turismo when it comes to cinemas on Aug. 11. The latest GT game, Gran Turismo 7, is now playable for PlayStation 4|5.

Violent Night Starring David Harbour is Getting a Sequel https://www.geekfeed.com/violent-night-starring-david-harbour-has-a-sequel/ Mon, 30 Jan 2023 17:13:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73134 Red looks good on David Harbour with roles like Hellboy and Red Guardian in Black Widow, and last Christmas he was Jolly Old Saint Nick in Violent Night. The movie was a sleeper hit on release, and we have news that a sequel is underway.

This was confirmed by director Tommy Wirkola who tells The Wrap, “We’re talking about [a Violent Night sequel] and we’re just making deals and getting everything in order.” No details were released when it came to the story, but we should expect the film to expand the lore of this version of Kris Kringle.

If anything, Wirkola did confirm that there are still a lot of things in the Christmas lore that they have yet to touch. He explains, “There’s stuff we left on the floor like the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, the elves… But story-wise I think we have a really, really cool idea that expands on the world and scope, but still keeping that tone that we love from the first one.”

Who knows, maybe the sequel could take place in the North Pole this time with Santa and his elves trying to save a Mrs. Clause that’s been taken hostage. I would absolutely love it if they brought in some more Christmas figures to rumble with David Harbour. How about a crossover with The Grinch? Universal did release the film back in 2000, and I would kind of love to see Jim Carrey back in the role. Maybe it could be a buddy-cop action comedy this time around?

No release date has been announced for Violent Night 2, but we should expect the movie to come out in a Christmas down the line (maybe 2024).

‘We’re the Losers’: David Harbour Talks Thunderbolts https://www.geekfeed.com/were-the-losers-david-harbour-talks-thunderbolts/ Wed, 16 Nov 2022 14:15:18 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72020 David Harbour’s Red Guardian could have been a one-off character in Black Widow, but Marvel has decided to bring him back for the upcoming Thunderbolts film. With Marvel already rife with supergroups, Harbour tries to place the Thunderbolts into their own category against the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Talking to ComicBook (via The Direct), Harbour explains:

“We’re… like, losers, which I like. We’re like, you know, the losers. And I think it’s fun to watch us just mess everything up. I think that’s the spectrum. I think it’s very funny, but there’s also a lot of pathos in that. There’s a lot of drama in a bunch of people that just keep getting their lives wrong and, because of character flaws, keep messing things up. And nobody gives them the respect that they do to Captain America and Iron Man, very capable people. So there’s a lot to draw on there. There’s a lot of movie there that’ll be fun.”

Even before the film was announced, and rumors were going around that a Thunderbolts project was in the works, everyone was already making comparisons to Suicide Squad, what with the group of supervillains being coerced into working for the government.

Who knows, maybe Marvel could come up with something more unique with the story. After the bland reception of Black Widow and a lot of other Phase 4 films, it would do the studio some good to try and shake things up creatively.

Thunderbolts is set for a release on July 26, 2024.

Violent Night is David Harbour’s Violent Christmas Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/violent-night-david-harbour-christmas-movie/ Fri, 07 Oct 2022 09:21:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71459 We’ve seen several takes on the Santa Claus tale from The Santa Clause to Elf, but fans aren’t ready for this new take on Santa starring Stranger Things’ David Harbour.

Check out the trailer for Violent Night:

The official synopsis reads:

When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (David Harbour, Black Widow, Stranger Things series) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.

The movie feels like Die Hard, only this time, they’ve taken John McClane out of the story and turned him into actual Santa Claus. You still have the greedy terrorists who are holding people hostage in a building, but now McClane is a magical fat man that has access to flying reindeer and an endless sack of presents.

It’s aso worth noting that the producers behind this film, 87North, are also the same people behind films like Atomic Blonde, Nobody, and the most recent Bullet Train; so we should expect some top notch action choreography laced with some Christmas magic.

It’s a very silly twist to the Christmas movie formula, and that’s probably what got the film made. Harbour is a fun talent, and besides Santa Claus, he’s already played several ‘red’ bruiser characters like Hellboy and Red Guardian from Black Widow. Who knew Santa was going to be on that list?

Catch Violent Night when it hits cinemas on Dec. 2.

Could Harrison Ford Replace William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross? https://www.geekfeed.com/harrison-ford-play-thunderbolt-ross/ Sun, 02 Oct 2022 14:58:12 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71362 We were introduced to Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in The Incredible Hulk back in 2008, and though he has only recently re-emerged in the MCU, we probably won’t be seeing him again since actor William Hurt died last March. With the incoming Thunderbolts movie though, word is going around that Marvel has found someone else to take on the role for Hurt.

According to The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider, Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones, Star Wars) is currently being eyed to take over the role of Thunderbolt Ross in the MCU. So far, this is just a rumor, but he does seem to be the perfect actor to take over the part. He already played some kind of military leader character in Ender’s Game.

If anything, I think Ford would be great as this anti-Nick Fury who brings together a group of villains to do some dirty work. If anything, they can re-ignite Ross’ grudge on Bruce Banner, and maybe we can even see Ross turn into the Red Hulk like he did in the comics. I wouldn’t know if Ford would be open for that kind of role though, but it would be fun to watch him lose his cool and Hulk out onscreen.

Then again, this is just a rumor. At some point, I think fans were already resigned to the idea of having Ross appear in the MCU again, but having Ford onboard could really change the direction of the character moving forward. Hopefully we get an official update soon.

Thunderbolts hits theaters on July 26, 2024.

Stranger Things 5 will Take Place Entirely in Hawkins https://www.geekfeed.com/stranger-things-5-takes-place-all-in-hawkins/ Fri, 08 Jul 2022 16:49:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=69946 [SPOILERS FOR THE STRANGER THINGS 4 FINALE]

Stranger Things 4 may have been spread out across multiple locations, but we should expect everything to stay in Hawkins when it comes to the final season.

Talking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Discussing Film), Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that the story of Season 5 will take place entirely in Hawkins. What’s more the show will give us “a lot of the original groupings and pairings that we had in Season 1.”

Since the group dynamics have pretty much changed since the first season, it’s going to be interesting to see some old pairings come back together and see just how much the characters have grown. We should probably expect some more Steve and Nancy pairings in the next season, but I would love there to be a redemption arc for Jonathan, who was pretty much in the background for the fourth season. We might also get more of the original trio of Dustin, Mike, and Lucas, but I wonder where new characters like Max and Robin could end up.

With the way the fourth season ended, I’m curious how they could approach season 5. I mean, how are the characters supposed to have any kind of downtime with a huge portal having cut across Hawkins? Will there even be any room for mysteries this time around?

Personally, I think the Duffers have been hitting it out of the park with every season. Sure there have been stumbles, but overall each season has been an exciting watch, and the characters are all well-written and developed.

Stranger Things 5 is set to release in 2024, but you can watch the complete Season 4 now streaming on Netflix.

Eleven Doesn’t Have Powers in New Stranger Things 4 Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/eleven-doesnt-have-powers-in-new-stranger-things-4-trailer/ Wed, 13 Apr 2022 17:28:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64852 The pandemic may have caused a major delay, but Stranger Things is finally coming back to Netflix, and fans can’t wait to see what happened to our favorite gang of kids from Hawkins, Indiana. We just got a new trailer for the fourth season, and it reveals a lot of the plot—as well as the appearance of a whole new villain.

Check the Stranger Things season 4 trailer down here:

With mystery being a very integral part to the success of Stranger Things, the new trailer didn’t come with an overall synopsis for the season. Instead, fans are left to put together pieces of the story, with the reveal that Eleven has lost her powers and teases of Hopper’s time in Russia.

We also get a look at the season’s new villain, which is suspected to be the biggest bad of them all. With the Demogorgon revealed to be a mindless beast and the Mind Flayer actually having sentience, we should expect this new villain to really give the gang a run for their money, seeing as they’re now dealing with something that knows exactly what the Upside Down is and how it’s connected to their world.

Stranger Things has been confirmed to only last five seasons, but that doesn’t mean we’ll get shorted on episodes. The fourths season has been split into two with the second half set to come out in July. We should also expect the same with Season 5, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Catch Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1 when it releases on Netflix on May 27.

Duffer Brothers Say Upside Down will Finally be Fully Explained https://www.geekfeed.com/duffer-brothers-say-upside-down-will-finally-be-fully-explained/ Tue, 12 Apr 2022 11:17:52 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64804 We’ve known about the ‘Upside Down’ since the first season of Stranger Things, and over the course of four seasons, this alternate dimension has remained mostly a mystery. With the show having two seasons left, creators the Duffer Brothers promise that audiences will be getting solid answers as to what the Upside Down is.

Speaking to Deadline, the Ross Duffer explained, Back when we did Season 1, Netflix just kept going ‘Can you explain all this mythology to us?’… So we wrote this giant 20-page document, which talked about everything in terms of what was going on and what exactly the Upside Down was. And then each season we’re just sort of peeling back the layers of that onion, so to speak. But this season, we really wanted to really get into it and [revealing] some of those answers. But to do that properly, we needed time, so it just became bigger and bigger.”

The Duffer Brothers say that the upcoming season has been one of the longest they’ve ever made, and there aren’t any episodes that have a runtime of less than an hour. With the characters also having spread very far away from each other—Hopper the farthest in Russia—the two have compared the scope of the season to that of Game of Thrones.

While the entire series hasn’t been perfect, Stranger Things remains to be one of the biggest shows on Netflix. We don’t know if the showrunners will be able to pull off that perfect ending, but at least we know they have this whole thing planned out to the end.

The fourth season of Stranger Things premieres on Netflix this May 27.

Stranger Things 4’s New Trailer Embraces a New Horror Genre https://www.geekfeed.com/trailer-for-stranger-things-4-embraces-a-new-horror-genre/ Tue, 28 Sep 2021 13:07:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61679 Netflix’s TUDUM 2021 had a lot of many big reveals for upcoming shows, but one title that a lot of fans have been watching out for is the next season of Stranger Things. Though we won’t get a season this year we do have a teaser for what’s to come in 2022.

Watch the new Stranger Things trailer down here:

We don’t have a breakdown or synopsis of what to expect with Season 4, but we do have a description which reads: “003/004”

While the initial reaction could be that the numbers indicate new incoming characters, I have a feeling that it could also be a hint at the release date at the same time. Though Stranger Things fits best with the holiday season, 2019 saw a release in the summer of July. What are the odds that the show could be aiming for a March release date, especially after the pandemic delay?

Going back to the series though, it looks like the show will be embracing a haunted house storyline this time around. With previous Stranger Things seasons being very creative when it comes to their homages, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Season 4.

I’ll admit, the last season pretty much felt like a good wrap-up of everything, but the Duffer Brothers seem to have a definitive end in mind, so we don’t have to worry about the show losing its fire before it gets inevitably cancelled. At this point, I think we could be watching Eleven and the rest of the gang encounter “strange things” until the 90s.

Catch Stranger Things 4 when it hits Netflix sometime in 2022.

New Stranger Things 4 Sneak Peek Confirms 2022 Release https://www.geekfeed.com/new-stranger-things-4-sneak-peek-confirms-2022-release/ Mon, 09 Aug 2021 17:48:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60952 While Netflix shows are hit and miss, one hit is definitely the nostalgia-fuelled adventure romp that is Stranger Things. After a delay from the pandemic, the show is back on track, and we now have a small sneak peek as well as a release window.

Watch the Stranger Things sneak peek down here:

We don’t really get much from the video, but we do see how all the Stranger Things kids have aged up. We also have a look at Hopper with a flame thrower. No explanation has been given to his return, but I’m waiting to see what the Duffer Brothers have in store for him. Could it be time travel? An evil clone borne of the Upside Down?

We also get the tease of more of Eleven’s ‘siblings’. Though the meeting of one was the weakest point of the season, hopefully the show has learned a more interesting way to introduce these kids with special powers. With the show’s reputation for paying homage to several other properties, I wonder what Season 4 is going to be calling back to this time.

While nothing was confirmed in the video itself, the description reads, “uʍop ǝpᴉsdn ǝɥʇ uᴉ llɐ,ʎ ǝǝs Stranger Things returns in 2022.” Though the last season got a summer release date, I’m hoping the release of Season 4 will line up more closely to Halloween.

No specific release date has been set for Stranger Things 4, but the show is expected to come back sometime in 2022.

Scarlett Johansson Happy Marvel Decided to De-Sexualize Black Widow https://www.geekfeed.com/scarlett-johansson-happy-marvel-decided-to-de-sexualize-black-widow/ Fri, 18 Jun 2021 15:38:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60122 Though it’s been more than a year since it’s initial release date, Black Widow is finally set to come out on Disney+ and select theaters on July 9. Though we’re unsure if this will indeed be Scarlett Johansson’s swan song to the character, she does take the time to talk about how the character has evolved ever since her introduction in Iron Man 2.

Talking to Collider, Johansson speaks about how the character has moved from being a hyper-sexualized femme fatale to someone more vulnerable onscreen. She says:

“All of that is related to that move away from the kind of hyper-sexualization of this character and, I mean, you look back at Iron Man 2 and while it was really fun and had a lot of great moments in it, the character is so sexualized, you know? Really talked about like she’s a piece of something, like a possession or a thing or whatever — like a piece of ass, really. And Tony even refers to her as something like that at one point.”

Though Black Widow was a sex pot in Iron Man 2, the character pretty much evolved as the MCU trudged along. While The Winter Soldier still had hints of Romanoff using her sexuality to manipulate a situation, it was pretty much gone by the time Civil War came around.

Johansson continues:

“Her power’s in her sexuality, and then that changed over time, right? Her strength was actually her vulnerability. That’s the kind of place that we’re in now and then in Endgame she sacrifices herself out of love. She saves her friend. She saves everyone.”

We don’t know how Marvel plans to cap off Widow’s story now that the character is dead, but a lot of fans are eager to see what happens when Black Widow becomes available in theaters and on Disney+ this July 9.
