More than a decade later, Wright is still focusing on his original IP and has avoided directing for any big franchises since Ant-Man.

We don’t know if he’ll ever make room for a big project in the future, but he does think that these big superhero studios need to sow down. In an episode of Happy Sad Confused (via IndieWire), Wright ranted:

“I think one of the problems with film franchises is sometimes when they announce — I’m not mentioning any names or anything — when they announce like massive slates of films and TV shows […] there’s a danger of killing the golden goose… I wish some franchises would just kind of have the sense to just take a breather and let people get excited about it again. I feel like there are certain things that I loved that I don’t want to see again, or I don’t want to see them again for a long time. And again, I’m not going to bad mouth anything because it always gets interpreted as sound[bites].”

For now, Wright is advocating that studios should invest more in newer IP when it comes to movies. He says that they don’t have to stop doing the big IP films, but it would be great if they could also put in the same amount of investment for newer IP so audiences can get something new besides the next superhero or big sci-fi action flick.

We don’t have a look at Edgar Wright’s upcoming projects yet, but he is attached to the newly released Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime that’s on Netflix. After his foray into horror with Last Night in Soho, everyone is curious if Wright is going to come back to his action-comedy genre or dive deeper into horror films like Jordan Peele has.

Jonathan Majors Scores Win in Domestic Violence Case Against Him https://www.geekfeed.com/jonathan-majors-scores-win-domestic-violence-case/ Mon, 03 Jul 2023 16:26:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77525 Ever since his arrest for Domestic Violence back in March, a lot of people have been wondering about Jonathan Majors and his future. While it certainly looked like Marvel was going to have to recast Kang the Conqueror, it seems that Majors has been proven innocent.

NewsWeek reports that Majors has won his domestic violence case filed by his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Multiple witnesses were said to have come forward to claim that Majors was not seen harming Jabbari, and the story was actually the other way around.

Majors’ lawyer Priya Chaudhry said, “Within hours of viewing the evidence, and conducting their own thorough investigation, the NYPD found probable cause to arrest Grace Jabbari for assaulting Jonathan Majors.”

For now the case still isn’t completely closed, and Majors is set to face court again this coming August. There are even reports going around that Majors is counter-suing Jabbari for falsely accusing him of a crime and supposedly ruining his career.

Should the matter be settled, we should expect Marvel Studios to breath one huge sigh of relief; seeing that they are currently hyping Majors up to be the next big bad in their franchise. Otherwise, fans have already been pitching several other options should they decide to recast—like Chukwudi Iwuji who had done a stellar performance as the High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Majors is set to reprise the role of Kang in the second season of Loki which is set to come out this year. You can also catch him in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which is now streaming on Disney+.

Multiple Kang Variants Allegedly Appearing in Loki 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/multiple-kang-variants-allegedly-in-loki-2/ Thu, 19 Jan 2023 05:30:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72969 Though Kang will be taking the villain spotlight in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it looks like Jonathan Majors has more Marvel projects to show up in this year.

As per insider Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie), Majors is set to play multiple Kang variants in the upcoming second season of Loki. No details have been released on how many Kangs will appear, but it’s said that the season will also introduce something called a “Time Loom” which is the source of the TVA power. They use the energy from the time stream and absorb it.”

Though Majors is going to make his big Marvel moment in Ant-Man 3, he actually made his MCU debut last year with the first season of Loki, as “He Who Remains”, a Kang variant that established the TVA, with the sole purpose of keeping one original timeline and preventing alternate timelines from occurring.

Admittedly, Majors’ Kang in Ant-Man seems a lot scarier than the one we met in Loki, but I think that’s the point of the character. We’re supposed to meet multiple iterations of him from other dimensions, and while some can be good, there are just others that are multiple shades of bad.

If I were to make a guess, I think Kang is going to be making small cameos in every MCU project in Phase 5, building up to his ‘Dynasty’ in the fifth Avengers movie. We don’t know what it would take to defeat a being that can jump realities, but I guess that’s why we would need the Avengers to reassemble one more time.

No release date has been set for Loki 2, but watch out for Kang on the big screen when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes out on Feb. 16.

First Look at William Jackson Harper in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/william-jackson-harper-in-ant-man-quantumania/ Tue, 17 Jan 2023 11:29:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72941 It’s been a  while since it was announced that William Jackson Harper was joining the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and though we didn’t get a look at him in the trailer, a new image from Empire reveals his character named ‘Quaz’.

Check this out:

https://twitter.com/empiremagazine/status/1614987182766170112

We don’t know much about the character of Quaz yet, but Empire did write:

“What we do know about Quaz is that he’s a telepath – and he’s pictured here with Katy M. O’Brian’s Jentorra, a freedom fighter who’s railing against injustice felt by the teeming communities living in the minuscule metropolis.”

When Harper was first cast, a lot of fans thought he was going to be some version of Reed Richards (of the Fantastic Four), but with this confirmation, I guess he could be someone completely different. There is a Marvel character called Quasar, and his powers have something to do with Quantum energy, so maybe this could be a version of that character.

With Harper cast in the film, fans were hoping he got a more significant character to play, but I guess there’s no harm in making an obscure character entirely your own. That’s kind of what happened with the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, and now they’re the definitive version that the comics are drawing from.

Catch Harper in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it premieres in theaters Feb. 16.

The Kang Dynasty Rises in New Trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania/ Tue, 10 Jan 2023 09:52:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72845 February will see the start of Marvel Phase 5 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and we have a new trailer that teases the next big Avengers villain, Kang the Conqueror.

Watch the trailer for Quantumania here:

While the first previews for Quantumania have only teased the potential of Jonathan Majors’ Kang, we see him going all out with his powers in this trailer, and we also get a good idea of the stakes in which Scott Lang is agreeing to work with him.

Though Doctor Strange is kind of the property that owns the kooky visuals in the MCU, the trailer does have some quantum insanity going on with Scott Lang multiplying into thousands of copies, enough to make an Ant-Man tower made of Ant-Men. We don’t know what other kind of visuals we can expect, but after the underwhelming ‘Multiverse of Madness’, I hope that Ant-Man leans in on the title of ‘Quantumania’.

Also, I think it’s worth mentioning that though he doesn’t talk, we also get a look at MODOK a.k.a. Darren Cross (Corey Stoll). I’m admittedly bummed Jim Carrey didn’t get the part, but I hope that Marvel keeps MODOK around to cause some chaos in the future.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Ant-Man and the Wasp find themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that pushes them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

Catch Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it releases in theaters on Feb. 17.

Ant-Man 3 Toy Leak Gives Fans Look at MODOK https://www.geekfeed.com/ant-man-3-toy-leak-gives-fans-look-at-modok/ Wed, 30 Nov 2022 07:53:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72232 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania may be hyping up the clash with Kang the Conqueror, but the movie will also be giving us a live-action version of fan-favorite villain MODOK (Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing). The trailers have yet to reveal him, but thanks to a leak from FUnko Pop!, we have our best look at the character.

Check this out:

Since this is a Funko design, we should expect the live-action version to have some kind of changes, but so far I think the character looks a lot better than the leaks we’ve been getting months earlier. I guess they did get the metallic face right on the design, but I love the expression and grin that feels very classic MODOK.

The rumor is that MODOK is actually a mutated Darren Cross who has been transformed into a giant head with tiny limbs thanks to his first encounter with Ant-Man. I’ll admit, Cross is one of the more boring villains of the MCU, but with a little rewriting, maybe he can make for a fun MODOK. Who knows, by the end of the film, maybe MODOK can come back to the main reality and cause havoc there for Phase 5.

We don’t know when Marvel is going to give us our first look at the character, but hopefully we get a small clip of him in the next Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer—whenever they decide to drop it.

Catch Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it hits cinemas on Feb. 17, 2023.

Ant-Man 3: Kang Trapped in the Quantum Realm? https://www.geekfeed.com/ant-man-3-kang-trapped-in-the-quantum-realm/ Fri, 25 Nov 2022 15:16:23 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72171 We had a tease for Jonathan Majors’ Kang in Loki, but we get to see him take the villain spotlight in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Though Kang’s deal is hugely a mystery, we may have gotten one major plot point revealed for the character.

In a new issue from Empire (via The Direct), it’s been revealed that Kang has actually been trapped in the Quantum Realm, and it’s possible that he needs Scott’s help to get out. We don’t know exactly what Kang needs from Scott, but some guess that it will have something to do with MODOK who is also a classic Marvel villain making his appearance in the film.

The theory is, Kang’s time chair has been taken by MODOK, and Kang entrusts Scott to steal it back for him. Also, it’s been said that the part of MODOK is played by Corey Stoll, who was the primary antagonist in the first Ant-Man.

With Kang being the main villain of the next Avengers movie, it’s pretty curious why they decided to make him debut in a solo film—and in an Ant-Man movie of all properties. If you did your Loki research, this could just be one version of Kang that’s been trapped, and by the time the next Avengers comes in, we could be looking at a whole army of Kangs—each with their own special set of powers and abilities.

Then again, this is all just speculation on the fans’ end. Until the movie comes out, guessing will just have to do.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.

Leak Provides Closer Look at MODOK in Ant-Man https://www.geekfeed.com/leak-provides-closer-look-at-modok-in-ant-man/ Mon, 03 Oct 2022 14:28:23 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71382 We know that Kang the Conqueror will be front and center as the villain of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but word also has it that the film will introduce MCU fans to giant floating head the Mecanized Organism Designed Only for Killing a.k.a. MODOK. We have yet to get an official look at him in the film, but a leaked trailer may just have given us a peek.

Check this out:

This does line up with the rumors that this version of MODOK will be a robot with a metallic face, but it’s possible that the mask will unfold to reveal an actual giant face like the one from the comics. Rumor has it that MODOK will actually be Darren Cross the villain from the first Ant-Man, and it’s going to be revealed that he has become a giant head with tiny arms and legs—kind of a fitting origin MCU-wise, if you ask me.

We don’t know when Marvel is set to give us our first look at Quantumania, but rumors are going around that it will be sometime this month. With Marvel Studios currently gearing up for the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it could be fitting to drop a teaser for Ant-Man in the midst of all this Black Panther press in order to help boost hype for the MCU and any incoming projects.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to come to cinemas on Feb. 17, 2023.

Possible First Look at MODOK in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/modok-in-ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania/ Mon, 08 Aug 2022 17:09:18 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70443 We know that Kang the Conqueror will be the main villain of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but word also has it that the movie will feature Marvel’s wackiest villain—MODOK (Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing).

What’s news is, the design for MODOK in the movie has apparently leaked online, and well… it’s something:

A lot of fans have already started voicing their distaste for the design, but I’m willing to give Marvel the benefit of the doubt. I think MODOK is going to appear like a robot for a good chunk of the movie, then the mask will come off and reveal his giant face which will be Darren Cross from the first Ant-Man—giving us the more comic-accurate look.

If you ask me, I always prefer the MODOK look with the arms sticking out the side of his head, but there’s always a chance for characters to evolve, especially with the MCU that requires a new costume with every film.

Then again, it’s possible this isn’t a design from the movie at all, and people are just getting outraged over nothing.

With a release set for early next year, we should get our first look at Ant-Man 3 soon. My guess is we could get something around the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in November, but maybe Marvel could go even earlier than that.

Catch Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it hits theaters Feb. 17, 2023.

MODOK will Allegedly have a ‘Major Role’ in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/modok-will-allegedly-have-a-major-role-in-ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania/ Wed, 08 Dec 2021 09:24:31 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62830 It had been teased for a while that Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) will be the main antagonist of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but it looks like one more comic villain could be appearing in the film – MODOK.

As per The Direct, MODOK will be introduced in the film, and he’ll be playing a ‘major role.’ Though early rumors have suggested that Jim Carrey had been cast for the part, it looks like talks didn’t push through, and someone else will be taking control as the leader of AIM.

No new actor has been rumored/announced for MODOK, but maybe they can bring in Patton Oswalt, who already plays a fun version of him in his own animated Hulu series:

With Kang being hyped up as an MCU villain since the Loki finale, it’s curious what role MODOK has to play in the film.  It’s possible he could be a tertiary antagonist on the hunt for Pym’s technology, but it’s possible that he could also be on a path to get to Kang himself.

The Ant-Man solo films have been the ‘smallest’ movies in the MCU, and they don’t really bring as large a crowd as the Iron Man or Captain America films do; but the character has proven to be one of the most essential, with Scott Lang getting the idea to use the Quantum Realm to time travel, thus saving everyone in Endgame.

With Kang set as the main villain (and now MODOK rumored for a return), maybe Quantumania could be gearing up to be one of the biggest MCU films for Phase 4. Then again, that’s just wishful thinking on my part.

Catch Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it hits theaters on July 28, 2023.

The Wasp was Originally Written as the Lead of The Avengers (2012) https://www.geekfeed.com/the-wasp-was-originally-written-as-the-lead-of-the-avengers-2012/ Fri, 22 Oct 2021 16:30:55 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62115 While the character itself is fine, the Wasp has only been playing second fiddle to Scott Lang ever since Ant-Man. What’s interesting is, the character was supposed to make her debut in the very first Avengers movie, and she was even written as the lead.

As per the book The Story of Marvel Studios (via /Film), the Wasp was written into The Avengers when it was a possibility that Scarlett Johansson wouldn’t be able to reprise the role of Black Widow due to scheduling conflicts. Producer Jeremy Latcham explains:

“It was all about The Wasp. He wanted to cast Zooey Deschanel. [Wasp] was the funniest character in the whole movie, and well-written.”

Avengers director (and now cancelled) Joss Whedon also said about the Wasp:

The Wasp happened because there was a short period where it looked like we weren’t going to be able to get Scarlett [due to scheduling conflicts], so I was panicking. I thought, ‘Hold on, we could do The Wasp.’ Then I fell in love with that. But we did get Scarlett, and then I realized I had written this entire movie about The Wasp. Oops. I overcompensated there.”

There isn’t any reveal on whether the Wasp would have been Janet or Hope, but I think Deschanel would have been a great choice to play the character, especially with how big she was getting around the 2010s. For now, Deschanel has sort of focused more on her TV career, but I have no doubt that she would have been a fantastic Avenger.

For now, Marvel Studios is setting up for the release of Eternals on Nov. 5. The Wasp returns in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which comes out July 28, 2023.

Production Starts for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/production-starts-for-ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania/ Wed, 28 Jul 2021 09:37:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60755 With Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror making his debut in the finale of Loki, the stage is set for him to be the main antagonist of Ant-Man  and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film is set for a 2023 release, and director Peyton Reed has revealed that production has already started for Scott Lang and Hop Van Dyne’s next adventure.

Here’s Reed’s post for Quantumania :

If you remember the first Ant-Man, this is the gift that Scott gives to his daughter on her birthday. With the relationship between Cassie and Scott being integral to the series, it’s going to be interesting to see where Marvel takes the characters. After all, Scott did miss five years of Cassie’s life in Endgame; though we got a small, but touching reunion in the film, I’m ready to delve into more of that relationship in Quantumania.

If anything, the movie could be building up to Cassie being a Young Avenger, seeing as she becomes Stature in the comics. We don’t know why they replaced Emma Fhurmann with Kathryn Newton (Detective Pikachu), but it’s possible that Disney/Marvel wants a more recognizable star in the role if we’re going to be seeing more of her in the future.

No plot has been revealed for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but the hype is on after the events of Loki. Will we be seeing multiple versions of Kang in the film? Is the TVA going to return? Hopefully it’s more memorable than Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to come out on Feb. 17, 2023.

Corey Stoll’s Yellowjacket Allegedly Coming Back for Ant-Man 3 https://www.geekfeed.com/corey-stolls-yellowjacket-allegedly-coming-back-for-ant-man-3/ Sun, 11 Jul 2021 13:25:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60463 Though Marvel has been criticized for forgettable villains before, they have been making some more memorable antagonists toward the end of the Infinity Saga. If anything, Marvel looks to be ‘redeeming’ some of their old foes with some upcoming films, including the third Ant-Man movie.

As per the Still Watching Podcast from Vanity Fair (via The DisInsider), Corey Stoll, who played Ant-Man villain Yellowjacket, is said to be coming back for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. No details have been specified about his return, but I’m guessing it could either be for a flashback, or we could see him in some kind of repurposed role like Red Skull in the last two Avengers films.

Some fans have actually pointed out that you can see Yellowjacket’s helmet in the latest episode of Loki, and with Kang the Conqueror said to be the villain in Ant-Man 3 (and theorized to be the real villain behind the Time-Keepers), what are the odds that Darren Cross has struck a deal with Kang in order to keep surviving in the Void?

While we don’t know if this is true, it provides a great opportunity for Cross to become a more memorable villain. While he does have his moments, he’s merely reduced to an evil version of the protagonist by the end of the film. Maybe this time we can get some more development since the last time we saw him. He was at the top of his game in Ant-Man. Let’s see what years of living in the void can do to his character.

Then again, I’m just speculating here.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantimania is set to come out on Feb. 17, 2023.
