Maria Bakalova is one of the break out stars of the Borat sequel, and she’s managed to turn everyone’s heads to her when it comes to comedy. She had starred in Judd Apatow’s The Bubble opposite Pedro Pascal, and now she’s landed a role in one of the biggest comedy-action films coming in 2023.
Variety reports that Bakalova has landed a role in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. We don’t have that much details on the part, but it has been described as a key role. While I don’t expect her to play anyone from the comics, the latest Marvel films have managed to bring to screen some of the more obscure characters; so Bakalova could be playing someone familiar.
Other new members of the cast include Chukwudi Iwuji and Daniela Melchior. Let’s also not forget that Will Poulter is also going to be playing Adam Warlock, who’s been teased since the second Guardians movie.
Yes yes yes, okay, I guess I should be surprised it took you guys this long to get this one. @MariaBakalova96 is incredible. #gotgvol3 https://t.co/4lPsmut3q7

We don’t know exactly what’s in store for Gunn’s Guardians Vol. 3, but it has been said that this will be the last time that we see this iteration of the Galaxy’s Favorite A-Holes. While I expect characters like Rocket and Groot to hang around to lead the next generation of guardians, I think we could be looking at the closing of the arcs for Drax, Gamora, Nebula, and Peter Quill.
While dying is the usual way characters are written off, I think it would be great if we got some happy endings and closure for the characters. Dying is so Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to release in theaters on May 5, 2023.
