Loki Season 2 is set to come back to streaming this October, and we have a new behind-the-scenes featurette giving us a look at Tom Hiddleston, Sophia DiMartino, and the rest of the cast as they bring back the TVA and tackle the emerging threat of Kang the Conqueror. Watch this:

We don’t exactly know what to expect this upcoming season, but the end of the first season had revealed that He Who Remains—a Kang variant—has been pruning divergent timelines and placing any outliers into the end of time or the service of the TVA.

With Sylvie killing HWR, the timelines had begun to split, and the threat of Kang had started to emerge with a statue of him presiding over the TVA when Loki returns.

Since it does seem that Kang is now fully present in the TVA by the end of the season, it’s unclear why Mobius would still be unsure of the Kang variant when Loki and Mobius spot him during the Quantumania end-credit scene. It’s still unclear exactly what kind of ramifications Sylvie’s actions had, but it’s going to be great to see the cast come together again.

Let’s hope no further Jonathan Majors allegations come out around this time as well.

Loki 2 premieres on Oct. 5 on Disney+.

New Teaser for Loki 2 Hints at More Time-Travelling Hijinks https://www.geekfeed.com/loki-2-hints-at-more-time-travelling-hijinks/ Wed, 06 Sep 2023 06:39:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78581 The MCU’s main Loki may have died in Avengers: Infinity War, but Tom Hiddleston is now playing a new variant of the God of Mischief who is trying to help run the Time Variance Authority. The second season of Loki is set to come out this October, and we have a new teaser that features more Loki as well as the other characters we’ve met back in the first season.

Check this out:

Though Sylvie only had a small role in the earlier trailers, we see that she’s back in the fray with the second season. We also get hints at the other TVA members’ origins, including Mobius who seems to have been an astronaut in his original timeline—you can already imagine all of the Fantastic Four fan theories.

Also, they may have had to minimize his appearance after some troubling PR, but it looks like the series is once again going to embrace the return of Jonathan Majors as Kang. We saw him as the secret leader of the TVA in the first season, but now he’s once again been unleashed, and it seems that Loki and Mobius will be going after this Kang variant that looks to be living around the early 1900s.

Out of all the Disney+ shows, Loki was one of the few with something that didn’t resemble a superhero formula (i.e., Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel). We don’t know how long they plan to run this train, but we should expect more multiverse shenanigans to build up until the release of Secret Wars in the next few years.

Watch out for Loki 2 when it comes to Disney+ on Oct. 6.

Things Get Mischievous in Loki 2 Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/things-get-mischievous-in-loki-2-trailer/ Thu, 03 Aug 2023 05:54:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78057 It’s been more than a year since Loki premiered on Disney+, and now the God of Mischief (or at least a variant of him) is coming back with Mobius and the TVA for some more multiversal policing. The second season of Loki is set to return to Disney+ this October, and we have our first full trailer for the show.

Watch this:

We don’t have a full breakdown of the second season yet, but it does look like the TVA and specifically Loki will be put our of balance after the murder of He Who Remains in the first season finale.

While Jonathan Majors may have had some tough PR the past couple of months, it does look like Marvel is going to be sticking to his version of Kang the Conqueror, and we should expect him to have a larger presence when it comes to the second season of this show.

Besides Loki and Mobius, it does seem that the rest of the TVA figures we met in the first season are also going to be scattered along the timelines in the second season; and Loki will be on the hunt for his variant Sylvie who is responsible for taking out the Kang variant that had established the ‘one true timeline’. I have a feeling she’s also going to be experience the ‘time slipping’ that Loki is undergoing.

After a mediocre season of Secret Invasion, the pressure is on for Marvel to present something that fans will actually like this time around. Hopefully Loki 2 will manage to please.

Watch out for Loki Season 2 when it premieres on Disney+ on Oct. 6.

Multiple Kang Variants Allegedly Appearing in Loki 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/multiple-kang-variants-allegedly-in-loki-2/ Thu, 19 Jan 2023 05:30:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72969 Though Kang will be taking the villain spotlight in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it looks like Jonathan Majors has more Marvel projects to show up in this year.

As per insider Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie), Majors is set to play multiple Kang variants in the upcoming second season of Loki. No details have been released on how many Kangs will appear, but it’s said that the season will also introduce something called a “Time Loom” which is the source of the TVA power. They use the energy from the time stream and absorb it.”

Though Majors is going to make his big Marvel moment in Ant-Man 3, he actually made his MCU debut last year with the first season of Loki, as “He Who Remains”, a Kang variant that established the TVA, with the sole purpose of keeping one original timeline and preventing alternate timelines from occurring.

Admittedly, Majors’ Kang in Ant-Man seems a lot scarier than the one we met in Loki, but I think that’s the point of the character. We’re supposed to meet multiple iterations of him from other dimensions, and while some can be good, there are just others that are multiple shades of bad.

If I were to make a guess, I think Kang is going to be making small cameos in every MCU project in Phase 5, building up to his ‘Dynasty’ in the fifth Avengers movie. We don’t know what it would take to defeat a being that can jump realities, but I guess that’s why we would need the Avengers to reassemble one more time.

No release date has been set for Loki 2, but watch out for Kang on the big screen when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes out on Feb. 16.

Loki Season 2 Starts Shooting This Summer https://www.geekfeed.com/loki-season-2-starts-shooting-this-summer/ Wed, 02 Feb 2022 13:44:12 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63738 Loki may be dead in the main MCU timeline, but we get to follow another God of Mischief in Disney+’s Loki series. The finale had teased an incoming second season, and it looks like cameras will start rolling soon.

According to Backstage, Tom Hiddleston is set to start shooting the series in Pinewood this summer. We don’t have any more specific details, but this could mean that we could get the second season of Loki sometime in 2023.

Though Spider-Man: No Way Home had given us the first live-action multiverse crossover in the MCU, fans who watched Loki know that the seeds for ‘variants’ and parallel timelines were planted in that show. We don’t know exactly where this Multiverse chaos will reach its culmination, but I have a feeling that it will be explored further with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (where Kang will be the main antagonist).

As for the second season of Loki, I can imagine that it will just continue the story of Loki and his female variant Sylvie. Though we did get to watch the pair grow together, the finale had thrust the two apart, with Sylvie supposedly being the catalyst for the Multiverse happening. Hopefully the two make an appearance in the next Doctor Strange film so we can at least catch up on what’s happening with them.

No release date has been set for Loki 2, but you can catch the first season now on Disney+.

Loki [SPOILERS]: DeObia Oparei Shares a New Look at His Character https://www.geekfeed.com/loki-spoilers-deobia-oparei-shares-a-new-look-at-his-character/ Fri, 02 Jul 2021 14:43:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60344 [WARNING: SPOILERS FOR DISNEY+’S LOKI]

Though the episode last week was considered to be a lackluster, Loki’s plot once again picks up the pace with the latest episode. The mid-credits scene has introduced us to four more Loki variants, and one of the actors, DeObia Oparei, gives us a better look at his Loki.

He posted this on Twitter:

So far, the credits list Oparei’s variant as ‘Boastful Loki’, and while we don’t expect him to have any serious backstory, it’s going to be interesting to see how he plays off the other variants.

One thing that a lot of fans noticed is that Oparei’s Loki is wielding what looks to be his own magic hammer. Some suspect that this could be a variant version of Mjolnir, but others are guessing that it could be a magic hammer of Loki’s own make; in the comics, Loki crafts Stormcaster, which he gives to Ororo Munroe (a.k.a. Storm of the X-Men), turning her into the Goddess of Thunder.

Could Oparei’s character be hoding Stormcaster? Or was he a variant that was worthy of Mjolnir, hence the TVA abducted him because the hammer is meant to go to Thor?

For now, the plot thickens as it’s been revealed that someone else is behind the Time Keepers. Though it looks like Ravonna Renslayer could be the secret puppet master, it’s possible that there could be another ‘Palpatine’ in the shadows that is yet to reveal himself.

Catch the next episode of Loki on Disney+ Wednesday, July 7.

Loki Director on God of Mischief’s Bisexual Identity https://www.geekfeed.com/loki-director-on-god-of-mischiefs-bisexual-identity/ Thu, 24 Jun 2021 07:25:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60204 Disney has always been taking baby steps when it comes to representation, but the latest episode of Loki had just confirmed that Marvel’s God of Mischief was bisexual. While it can be considered just a small line, series director Kate Herron has expressed online how important the scene was for her.

This was her post on Twitter:

https://twitter.com/iamkateherron/status/1407633677484539906

While Loki was never show to have any sexual interests in the whole of the Infinity War Saga, it felt like the series was going to address it, what with Loki’s gender being identified as ‘fluid.’ We don’t know if the series is going to delve more into that in the future, but for now, we should consider this exchange between Loki and Sylvie a small win.

As of now, the series still has some mysteries to overturn. While the identity of the Time-Keepers seems like the big reveal of the show, for now, Loki is interested is showing us the dynamic between Loki and Sylvie. While the two are working together (for now), Sylvie’s backstory is still a mystery, and we don’t know what she has planned for the TVA.

Though fans criticized The Falcon and The Winter Soldier for going back to the Marvel formula, Loki is going weird again—and some can even say more than WandaVision. Hopefully Herron and her team have some more interesting surprises in store for the remainder of the series, seeing that we’re already halfway through.

Loki Series ‘Worked Really Hard’ to Make the Character Genderfluid https://www.geekfeed.com/loki-series-worked-really-hard-to-make-the-character-genderfluid/ Thu, 10 Jun 2021 14:28:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59981 It’s been a long wait since the release of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and now Disney+ is ready to premiere their Loki series. With Disney taking small steps toward representation, it’s recently been confirmed that the series will have the God of Mischief identify as genderfluid.

Talking to Inverse, series writer Michael Waldron talks about how they took a lot of care when it comes to portraying Loki’s gender. He says:

“I know how many people identify with Loki in particular and are eager for that representation, especially with this character… We worked really hard.”

While the character is ‘coming out’ as genderfluid in the show, it’s actually something that’s been portrayed in the comics before; as well as the official Norse mythology. Loki actor himself Tom HIddleston has said, “It’s always been there in the comics for some time and in the history of the character for hundreds, if not thousands of years.”

With Disney being called out for queer-baiting before, it’s very likely that the Loki series will be more specific when it comes to its portrayal onscreen. It’s no mistake that a promo photo from Loki has the character’s sex labelled as ‘fluid’ and some think that this could be a hint at Lady Loki, who is said to be making her debut in the series.

Marvel loki gender fluid

After The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’s return to the Marvel formula, a lot of fans are hoping that Loki manages to set itself apart from previously released Marvel shows. It’s going to be interesting to see how time is meddled with, and fans are hoping we get some great cameos down the line.

Catch Loki when it premieres on Disney+ on June 9.

Marvel Releases New Clips for Black Widow and Loki https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-releases-new-clips-for-black-widow-and-loki/ Mon, 17 May 2021 14:31:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59537 Though 2020 may not have seen any Marvel material released, the studio is looking to make up for it with 2021. We already had some great content with the release of WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and now we have new clips for upcoming MCU entries Loki and Black Widow.

This clip from Loki has the God of Mischief being introduced to Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson). While it’s just a short clip of them talking, it does have some exposition of Loki’s part, explaining who the TVA are, and what their responsibilities are to the timeline.

As for the Black Widow clip, it has Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) and Yelena (Florence Pugh) making a run from what we can assume is another Black Widow agent. We have a little action from Yelena’s part, and we also have more insight as to her dynamic with Natasha.

Admittedly, it’s gotten hard to be excited for the Black Widow movie since it’s been delayed for more than a year. We don’t know how much Marvel plans to reveal, but hopefully the movie finally makes its July slate.

As for Loki, the character has always been a fan favorite, and it’s going to be interesting to see how he handles his own series without Thor. With previous series having cameos, it’s very likely Loki will have one as well. Though Thor is the obvious choice, it would be great to have some time-travel/multiverse fun with the story. How about a young Stan Lee? Or maybe Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner?

Catch Loki when it comes out on Disney+ on June 9. Black Widow hits theaters and streaming a month later on July 9.

Is that Black Widow in the New Loki Trailer? https://www.geekfeed.com/is-that-black-widow-in-the-new-loki-trailer/ Tue, 06 Apr 2021 10:38:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=58983 With Natasha Romanoff having died in Vormir in Avengers: Endgame, a lot of people (and Marvel) were sure that the character was dead. What’s interesting is, there’s a scene in the new Loki trailer which seems to have Loki visiting Natasha in a place that looks like Vormir; too bad for Natasha fans though, because that doesn’t seem to be the case.

While the costume and hair may be reminiscent of Black Widow, this looks to be the character played by Sophia Di Martino, who fans speculate to be the female version of Loki. Di Martino has actually been spotted on set with short blond hair and body suit, and it’s likely that Loki could have a more emotional moment talking to a version of himself rather than an ally of his enemies.

Though a lot of people would be bummed that the door is closed for Natasha’s return, this could be read as an intentional misdirect on Marvel’s part. Fandango’s Erik Davis posts:

With WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier earning sparkling reviews, a lot of people are excited to see what’s in store for Loki. Admittedly the Marvel series that we’ve gotten so far have all been different, and Loki seems to be its own kind of animal, what with the time-travel and possible dimension-hopping.

Here’s the synopsis for the upcoming series:

The series takes place after Avengers: Endgame, which saw Loki steal the Tesseract during the 2012 events of The Avengers (2012), which created an alternate timeline from the main MCU films. In the series, Loki uses the Tesseract to travel through time and alter human history.

Catch Loki when it debuts on June 11. For now you can catch The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.
