The last season had come out in 2022, and now star Rob McElhenney is teasing the start of production for Season 4. Check out his post:

Seeing that McElhenney has It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Welcome to Wrexham to work on, it was no surprise that he wasn’t able to participate in the production meetings for MQ, but we should probably expect Ian to get into more shenanigans. Here it looks like he’s wearing a classic roman toga, so that’s either some kind of cosplay event or some ridiculous activity that only rich people like Ian can participate in.

With MQ co-creator Megan Ganz having worked on series like Community and Modern Family, Mythic Quest definitely has a different vibe compared to the more raunchy shows by her co-creators Charlie Day and McElhenney.

That being said, the character dynamics are still great, and Community fans will love the experimental nature of some episodes—including the ‘standalone’ episodes that each season has. Even Craig Mazin (The Last of Us, Chernobyl) has a role in the series and even directs some episodes.

No release date has been set for Mythic Quest 4, but you can catch the first three seasons now on Apple TV+.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia 16 Trailer Reunites Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul https://www.geekfeed.com/its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia-16-trailer/ Sun, 07 May 2023 16:51:36 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76660 We got a Breaking Bad reunion for Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston in the final season of Better Call Saul, and while Vince Gilligan has closed the book on the ‘Methverse’, Walt and Jesse have found themselves reunited on another show.

Just in, FX has dropped a new trailer for the 16th season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and we have a sneak peek of Cranston and Paul sharing a scene with Charlie. Check this out:

Here’s the description for IASIP 16:

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia returns for a record-extending Sweet 16 Season. The Gang is ripping straight from the headlines as they yearn for the past and attempt to survive the year, navigating 2023 with 16 years of baggage and a few figures from their past rearing their heads.

We don’t have that much details on Cranston or Paul’s characters, but they do look like they could have also gotten rich via some shady dealings. While most of the laughs in the show come from the main cast of IASIP, I’m hoping the Breaking Bad duo also get to have fun with their guest appearance.

It’s kind of amazing how long It’s Always Sunny has been running, but you have to hand it to the writers for finding out a way to write offensive characters without cancelling the show. I guess the series has always been clear about how each member of the gang is selfish and irresponsible, so whenever they mess up, it’s kind of obvious that the network isn’t condoning anything they do.

Catch the next season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia when it returns to FX on June 7.

Chris Pratt and Charlie Day Tried Out Different Voices for Mario and Luigi https://www.geekfeed.com/pratt-and-day-tried-different-voices-for-mario/ Fri, 21 Apr 2023 17:53:00 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76427 Chris Pratt has a pretty distinct voice, and a lot of people were wondering how he was going to deal with being cast as Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Chris Pratt and Charlie Day (Luigi) talk about how they eventually settled with the voices we got from the film. Day explains, We tried different things, different voices… Every now and then they would say, ‘Charlie, maybe a little less Goodfellas in this one’ — I’m like, ‘Alright! I think you’re wrong, but fine!’ — until they landed on something they liked.” Pratt also adds, For a minute, I walked in and they were like, ‘That’s a little New Jersey. You’re doing a Tony Soprano thing.'”

Though Mario only talks with a slight Brooklyn accent in the film, the movie actually takes time to explain his cartoonish voice, with Mario using it for their plumber ad. Even then we also get some more Mario catchphrases from Pratt in the film like him saying, “Let’s a-go!” and his “Wahoo!” on the Rainbow Road.

While the story could definitely use some brushing up, you have to commend The Super Mario Bros. Movie for actually embracing the game, and adding as much elements of it as they could from floating bricks to power-ups. We don’t know where a sequel could go yet, but we did get a Yoshi tease, and Peach did mention an entire ‘Galaxy’ (as in Super Mario Galaxy) to explore.

Catch The Super Mario Bros. Movie now tearing it up in theaters.

Fool’s Paradise: Charlie Day Fails Upwards in New Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/fools-paradise-charlie-day-fails-upwards/ Thu, 13 Apr 2023 13:50:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76281 Charlie Day may be playing second fiddle to Chris Pratt’s Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but he directs and stars another upcoming movie titled Fool’s Paradise. The film is set to release this May, and we have a first, star-studded trailer.

Check this out:

Here’s the synopsis:

Fool’s Paradise is a satirical comedy following a down-on-his-luck publicist (Ken Jeong), who gets his lucky break when he discovers a man recently released from a mental health facility (Day) looks just like a method actor who refuses to leave his trailer. With the help of a powerful producer (the late Ray Liotta), Ken helps the man become a huge star, even marrying his beautiful leading lady (Kate Beckinsale). Their adventures lead them to cross paths with drunken costars (Adrien Brody), irreverent unhoused action heroes (Common), unpredictable directors (Jason Sudeikis), a super-agent (Edie Falco), and power-mad moguls (John Malkovich). Fame and fortune are not all they are cracked up to be, and the two men must fight their way back to the things that matter the most.

No doubt, the cast is definitely star-studded, but fans have particularly honed in on the fact that this is Ray Liotta’s last film before his untimely death in May of last year. Hopefully Day has managed to get one final great performance out of him with this movie.

As for Day, this film will be his directorial debut. Though he’s often typecast as kind of a loon thanks to his role as Charlie in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, this could be a chance for Day to really showcase his creative work behind the camera (even though technically he’s also in front of it for this film).

Catch Fool’s Paradise in theaters when it releases on May 12.

Release Date for The Super Mario Bros. Movie Pushed Up https://www.geekfeed.com/super-mario-bros-movie-pushed-up/ Fri, 03 Mar 2023 09:16:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73572 A lot of fans have expressed their excitement for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and it looks like the studio is willing to make the wait a little more bearable.

As per the official announcement, the Super Mario movie has been pushed up by two days, and has been moved from its release on April 7 to April 5. Check this out:

We don’t have any specific reasons as to why the film was pushed forward, but I can imagine that this could come as a relief for some die-hard fans who want to watch the movie on the first day. Maybe the cinema won’t be as crowded on Wednesday as compared to the crowds that could be expected on a weekend premiere. Then again, I’m just guessing.

So far, it seems that this movie has been showing fans exactly what they want to see out of a Mario movie. The characters are colorful, and the Mushroom Kingdom looks to be magical and vibrant; not to mention there’s all kinds of easter eggs that come from decades of Super Mario games.

Admittedly, the marketing is still being very sparing of Chris Pratt’s Mario voice. There was immense backlash online when it was announced that Charles Marinet won’t be providing the voice like he has in the games, but I think Pratt will do a good job making Mario more of an everyman character.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now set to release on April 5.

Watch Hilarious New Spot for the Super Mario Bros. Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/hilarious-new-spot-for-the-super-mario-bros-movie/ Tue, 14 Feb 2023 16:02:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73368 A lot of Nintendo fans are gearing up for the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie this April, and Illumination Entertainment has decided to ride along the Super Bowl hype with a new TV spot. The spot essentially plays out like an in-universe ad for Mario and Luigi’s plumbing service, and there’s a neat Easter Egg for longtime Super Mario fans.

Check it:

As some fans online have pointed out, the voice of the woman in the ad is actually provided by Jeannie Elias, the original Princess Peach (or Princess Toadstool) in the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

Another crazy detail that fans spotted in the trailer is that you can actually see the color of the green screen on Mario and Luigi presumably from when they were shooting the sequence:

Besides that, you can see that a lot of the original character designs from the games were used for Mario and Luigi’s plumbing service, and we also have a hint at the iconic Super Mario theme, which was also played during the scene where Mario is introduced to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Though a lot of people were originally apprehensive to the casting of Chris Pratt as Mario, it looks like the film is going to be one great animated action adventure. Besides the fact that a lot of the film looks great, we also have a lot of Easter Eggs pointing back to the original game, from boss levels to all kinds of other Super Mario charactrs. They even found a way to work Donkey Kong into the film.

Catch The Super Mario Bros. Movie when it hits theaters on April 7.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Gets a Colorful New Poster https://www.geekfeed.com/the-super-mario-bros-movie-gets-a-colorful-new-poster/ Fri, 10 Feb 2023 06:52:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73335 Move over Sonic the Hedgehog, because another video game mascot is looking to dominate movie theaters later this year. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to come out in April, and we have a colorful new poster that gives us a look at all the characters in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Check this out:

This movie just continues to amaze when it comes to visuals alone. Not only do all the colors in the movie really pop, but they’ve also managed to capture the original design of the characters in the game while updating their look for modern animated films.

Even the characterization for everyone is fun. Jack Black’s Bowser looks pretty damn menacing, and they’ve made Princess Peach an actual leader of her people. I also kind of love how Chris Pratt’s Mario came out. He doesn’t have the cartoon voice, but it does sound like they gave him that Italian-American accent; Luigi is also pretty loveable as Mario’s cowardly brother.

With Super Mario having endured all these years with the games, I’m excited to see Illumination try to bring this story to life on the big screen. I’ll admit, I’m not a fan of those Minion movies, but based on what we’ve seen in the trailers, The Super Mario Bros. Movie could be a step up when it comes to video game adaptations.

The Super Mario Bros Movie comes to cinemas on April 7.

AThird Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer Dropped https://www.geekfeed.com/a-third-super-mario-bros-movie-trailer-dropped/ Sat, 03 Dec 2022 12:42:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72262 A lot of fans were sceptical about the Chris Pratt-led Super Mario movie, but the latest trailer seems to have changed a lot of people’s minds. What’s odd is, the second trailer released was sort of sparing when it came to the use of Pratt’s voice, but there has been a third trailer that dropped that actually features more of Pratt talking as Mario.

Check this out:

https://twitter.com/AidenRS139/status/1597999630842998784

Ever since Pratt was announced to be the voice of Mario, there had been a fan outcry to have longtime Mario voice actor Charles Martinet to play the part for the film. After the release of the trailer though, I think it’s clear that Illumination wants a different, more grounded take on Mario; and it would be hard for audiences to take the character more seriously when he sounds like he does from the video games.

So far, the movie looks fantastic, and fans have been able to spot hundreds of Easter Eggs just from the second trailer alone. It’s actually kind of insane how much references they could squeeze into the film from the game—from the transporting pipes, to the intricate level designs.

I don’t know where Illumination plans to take the Super Mario movie franchise soon, but I have a feeling it’s going to knock Sonic the Hedgehog out of the water.

Chris Pratt is Mario in the Super Mario Bros. Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-pratt-is-mario-in-the-super-mario-movie/ Fri, 07 Oct 2022 15:26:50 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71482 Before we get Chris Pratt as Garfield on the big screen, the Guardians of the Galaxy star is going to be voicing video game icon Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. As promised earlier this week, we now have our first teaser for the film, and though it doesn’t have a lot of Mario, it does show us the power of Jack Black’s Bowser.

Watch the teaser trailer for the Super Mario movie down here:

The trailer actually starts by introducing us to Bowser, and we discover that he’s after Super Stars. In the games, the stars have the power to turn you invincible, and maybe Bowser is looking for them in order to become unstoppable as he takes over the Mushroom Kingdom.

Enter Mario, who seems to be a stranger in this land, and he’s immediately joined by Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) who is a local resident of the kingdom. We also see Luigi getting chased down by some Dry Bones. We don’t know how he ends up in the Mushroom Kingdom, but I suspect that Mario and Luigi will have their own parallel stories before they team-up for the finale against Bowser.

With the Super Mario games not really being reliant on its story, I’m hoping that the film manages to bring all of these elements together to make one cohesive world. Then again, I think the most important thing is just making sure the characters work. If the Illumination movies have taught us anything with Minions, you don’t really need a good story to make a successful film; just some very saleable characters—and who’s more saleable than Mario and friends?

First Poster for Super Mario Revealed https://www.geekfeed.com/first-poster-for-super-mario-revealed/ Wed, 05 Oct 2022 15:11:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71430 Illumination Entertainment may be best known for their work on the Minion films, but the studio has teamed up with Nintendo to give us a Super Mario movie starring Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, and more.

A new trailer for the Super Mario Movie is set to drop this Thursday, and we have a first poster reveal teasing Mario and the colourful world of the Mushroom Kingdom. Check this out:

Just from the creases on Mario’s outfit, it’s like you can already tell that the visuals are going to be upped for this movie. I mean, sure the Nintendo Games have always been filled with cutscenes, but this is probably the most detailed we’re going to see Mario depicted out of all Nintendo’s properties.

With Thursday’s preview just being a teaser trailer, I do hope that the film gives us a look and listen at all the key players in the film. Though Mario and friends are already pretty recognizable, the movie would do well to show off its star-studded cast which also includes Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, and Jack Black.

Admittedly, a lot of fans have started to make fun of Chris Pratt for being cast in everything from The LEGO Movie to the upcoming Garfield flick, but I’m sure he’s going to do fine as Mario (to be honest, I’m more excited to find out how Charlie Day is going to pull off Luigi).

Chris Pratt Leads Star-Studded Cast of Super Mario Film https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-pratt-leads-star-studded-cast-of-super-mario-film/ Fri, 24 Sep 2021 16:59:58 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61660 Chris Pratt has certainly gone a long way from Parks and Recreation and has found himself as a lead of several blockbuster properties from Jurassic World to The LEGO Movie. Now he’s been cast in another big animated property from Illumination.

As announced by Shigeru Miyamoto himself, Pratt will be leading the star-studded cast of an animated Super Mario Bros. movie. Here’s the announcement from Nintendo Direct 2021:

Alongside Pratt will be Charlie Day (Luigi), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Jack Black (Bowser).

The film will be directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and will be using a script from The LEGO Movie 2 and Minions writer Matthew Fogel.

Admittedly, a lot of Super Mario fans were disappointed that longtime voice actor of Mario, Charles Martinet, wasn’t cast in the lead role, but seeing as how the industry is, it would make sense that they would want some big-name stars to draw in audience members who aren’t familiar with the franchise in the first place. Miyamoto says:

“We are collaborating with [Illumination head Chris Meledandri] and his experienced team to not just create a character licensed film, but a new piece of entertainment which brings Super Mario Bros. to life on the screen, and allows everyone to enjoy whether or not they know about the game.”

Though fans were able to get Sonic the Hedgehog redesigned, I don’t think the same could be said for the cast of Mario. Hopefully they bring in Martinet for a cameo role.

Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros film is set to come out on Dec. 21, 2022.
