Walter Emmanuel Jones (Black Ranger, Zack Taylor)

Looking back, it seems that the production team were not only culpable of homophobia but racism, too – really, you make the only black actor in your cast the Black Ranger? Thankfully, Zack was still a pretty cool character.

Walter Emmanuel Jones left the show midway through the second season because of a dispute over wages. Apart from several supporting roles in the likes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Jones has moved into voice acting – featuring in the Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs films and Red Dead Redemption. He has even voiced a few monsters on various Power Rangers series.

In 2009, Jones was arrested for DUI, though was shortly after released on bail. In 2012, he turned down a chance to return as the Black Ranger in a reunion episode of Power Rangers: Mega Force. He did this in support of David Yost, who also refused to appear.
