Now the movie has come out on Netflix, and it’s turned out to be the Top 1 film on Netflix (as per @HollywoodHandle):

Even before the film released in theaters, Madame Web was already gathering all kinds of memes online starting with the line, “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died.”

Not to mention the movie also had an all-star cast of some of the most popular young actresses at the time including Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor. Not to mention Dakota Johnson herself was a lightning rod of sex appeal and everything she was saying throughout the entire press tour for the film became meme-able.

Though the film did have its bashers, there were some online who have attested that the campiness for the movie is a delight to watch for any cynical comic book movie fan who knows how to watch films sarcastically.

It’s unclear where Madame Web is going to end up in the socail consciousness, but I have to tell you I honestly haven’t had a better time in the cinema . It’s like The Room for superhero films.

Madame Web is now streaming on Netflix.

Return to Oz in Latest Trailer for Wicked https://www.geekfeed.com/return-to-oz-in-latest-trailer-for-wicked/ Sat, 18 May 2024 10:34:01 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82471 Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful never really did build up to that Wicked adaptation, but we have a new attempt at reinventing the land of Oz with Cynthia Erivo and Arian Grande.

Check out the latest trailer for Wicked:

The official description for Wicked reads:

Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, stars Emmy, Grammy and Tony winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway’s The Color Purple) as Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart.

The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences on her future. Their extraodinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Other actors included in the cast are Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Keala Settle. Of course, we also shouldn’t forget the guy playing the infamous Wizard of Oz—Jeff Goldblum.

Wicked is considered to be the first part of a two-part ‘cultural celebration’, and is being helmed by Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights director Jon M. Chu.

With the play split in two acts, I’m guessing that the first part film is going to cover the events pre-Wizard of Oz, and the sequel is going to focus on Elphaba’s story after she has her encounter with Dorothy and is ‘melted with water’.

Wicked is admittedly one of the biggest Broadway musicals of all time, and Univeral is pretty aware of that. Good thing they already locked in the sequel for a release next year—unlike Dune which had to wait before the sequel could get greenlit.

The first part of Wicked comes out Nov. 27 this year, and the sequel releases on Nov. 26, 2025.

The Sisterhood is Formed in First Teaser for Dune: Prophecy https://www.geekfeed.com/the-sisterhood-is-formed-in-dune-prophecy/ Sat, 18 May 2024 10:03:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82466 With Dune: Messiah officially underway, fans will have to wait a few more years before we can see just exactly where Paul Atreides’ arc as the Lisan al Gaib is going to lead. Fortunately, HBO has found a way to give us a good Dune fix as we wait for the third film in Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy.

Here’s our first look at Dune: Prophecy, a spinoff series focusing on the formation of the Bene Gesserit and the lie that would propel Paul Atreides to power thousands of years later. Watch this:

10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, before the universe knew them as the Bene Gesserit…

No doubt the biggest star in the teaser for Prophecy is Mark Strong who plays the part of Emperor Corrino, but the cast also includes the likes of Travis Fimmel, Olivia Williams, Sarah Lam, and Camilla Beeput. Chernobyl star Emily Watson is also playing the part of Valya Harkonnen—and it looks like she’s up to something devious when it comes to the plans of the sisterhood.

There are definitely a lot of interesting things when it comes to Dune, and the Bene Gesserit has always been one of the more interetsing elements—kind of like Jedi before Jedi were even a thing. They have all of these fantastical ‘powers’ but they also represent the power of religious influence on a state.

It was said that the Bene Gesserit were named after the real-life group of Catholic Jesuits who also had political motivations . You can see all that play out in another critically-acclaimed show—Shogun.

With all the hype that Dune: Part Two was able to generate, a lot of fans will be eager to check out Dune: Prophecy to help further expand the lore.

Dune: Prophecy is slated to premiere on Max this Fall.

Andy Serkis to Direct Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum https://www.geekfeed.com/andy-serkis-to-direct-the-hunt-for-gollum/ Fri, 17 May 2024 11:59:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82450 The Lord of the Ring cow is slowly being milked. With Rings of Power on Amazon Prime Video and the animated War of the Rohirrim incoming, we have another live-action LOTR project announced.

According to Variety, Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is going to be in the works, and who else to be at the helm, but Gollum actor himself Andy Serkis. What’s interesing is that Peter Jackson, the director of the original LOTR trilogy, is also attached to the project as a producer.

Back in 2009, there was actually a fan film released with the same name Hunt for Gollum, and it was the story of Aragorn as he was prompted by Gandalf to search for Gollum who knew the location of the One Ring:

No official description has been given for the film, but fans are assuming that the main story will be focusing on a younger Aragorn—seeing that Viggo Mortensen has aged up quite a bit since he shot the original trilogy; he even refused to cameo in the Hobbit movies.

With IP like Star Wars and Marvel getting milked to no end, I’m not surprised that there would be a push to spinoff as much LOTR material as they can. Hopefully with Jackson and Serkis involved, we could get something on the same level of quality as the original LOTR trilogy.

No specific release date has been set for Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, but it is expected to come out sometime in 2026.

Dragons will Dance in Latest Trailer for HBO’s House of the Dragon https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-trailer-for-hbos-house-of-the-dragon/ Fri, 17 May 2024 11:52:12 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82444 HBO had already upstaged Amazon Prime Video a few years ago when they were showing House of the Dragon at the same time as The Rings of Power, and with the recent release of the ROP Season 2 trailer, Max has also decided to drop a trailer for the next season of House of the Dragon.

Watch the new trailer for season 2 of House of the Dragon:

For the second season of House of the Dragon, we expect the show to follow even more of the events of the book Fire & Blood. Though the series did try to be as faithful as possible to the source material, it has been known to take some liberties from time to time.

If anything, some changes have been for the better. Viserys Targaryen was kind of a stock character in the original book, but even George R.R. Martin praised the series for giving the character much more gravitas and making his exit in the series much more meaningful than in the books.

For now, the teams have been established with team Black and Green, and thogh the story has already been set in stone in the lore, it’s quite a different thing to watch all of it unfold onscreen. Hopefully the showrunners have more surprises up their sleeves for not just the TV audience, but for the book readers as well.

Fingers crossed the show doesn’t breed more toxic fandom, but at this point, that’s probably unavoidable.

House of the Dragon Season 2 is set to come out on June 16 on Max.

Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon Get Into Wedding Hi-Jinks in Trailer for You’re Cordially Invited https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-trailer-for-youre-cordially-invited/ Thu, 16 May 2024 09:26:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82438 Wedding comedies are dime-a-dozen, but we’ve rarely gotten one before were the leads are never implied to fall in love with each other.

Check out the trailer for Amazon Prime Video’s You’re Cordially Invited starring Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon:

Here’s the official description for the film:

A woman (Reese Witherspoon) planning her sister’s perfect wedding and the father (Will Ferrell) of a young bride-to-be find out that they are double booked for their destination wedding at a remote resort on an island off the Carolina coast. When both parties decide to share the small venue, chaos ensues and our cast of characters begin to face their own insecurities learning more about themselves.

It’s worth noting that the film is being directed by Nicholas Stoller who is best known for helming Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Neighbors (among others).Though his films can get all kinds of wacky, we should always expect there to be some kind of heart to the movie—which is a fantastic hat trick that Stoller always manages to pull off.

As for Ferrell and Witherspoon, both have branched off to do more serious projects recently, but a lot of their success has been rooted in comedy; and it’s great to see both of them going at it again.

Besides the leads, the movie has also brought in some great comedy actors like Jack McBrayer, Jimmy Tatro, Leanne Morgan, and Celia Watson. We also have Geraldine Viswanathan and Meredith Hagner as the actual brides of the film.

Catch You’re Cordially Invited when it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 30, 2025.

Sauron’s Rise will Continue in New Trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-the-rings-of-power-released/ Wed, 15 May 2024 10:55:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82432 After the success of Fallout, Amazon Prime Video is now ready for the return of one of their biggest shows. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is ready to debut its second season this year, and we have our first teaser showcasing the continuing rise of Sauron.

Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the second season:

Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season 1’s epic scope and ambition, Season 2 of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.

Here’s also a better look at Sauron in his elven disguise:

The first season had ended with the forging of the three rings of the elves, so we should expect the second season to focus on the forging of the seven dwarven rings. Nine were made for the mortal men (who then became the Nazgul), and the One Ring was made for Sauron—making that a total of twenty rings.

Admittedly, Rings of Power has been having an uphill battle when it comes to its online reputation. Not only did it get overshadowed by House of the Dragon when it came out, but there has also been a branch of fans who have been hell bent on review-bombing the show for its ‘wokeness’. You can even read ROP slander on Game of Thrones threads.

Regardless, there have been some who have been supportive of the series, and appreciate the return to Middle-Earth. Personally, I think they capture the tone of the Peter Jackson films pretty well, and I’m eager to see where it goes. Sure it’s not as scandalous as HOTD, but I appreciate some ‘clean’ meticulous fantasy now and then.

Plus Morfydd Clark is a fantastic Galadriel.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 29.

The Last of Us Season 2: Set Photos Reveal an Older Ellie and Dina https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-of-us-season-2-set-photos-released/ Wed, 15 May 2024 10:51:11 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82422 Fallout may be getting its praises sung now, but the video adaptation that started this wave of great adaptations is considered to be HBO’s The Last of Us. The second season is currently undergoing production, and we have some new set photos of Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and incoming character Dina (Isabela Merced).

Check them out in costume in the set of The Last of Us season 2:

For those who didn’t play the game, Dina is Ellie’s girlfriend near the start of the game. She’s also a very capable survivor herself and some missions have Dina being your companion as you go through some levels.

Though Season 2 will also be the first time that Dina actually has lines, she does have a small cameo in the first season as a girl that Ellie snaps at while she’s eating in the cafeteria in Jackson.

Wih the first season of the series taking some liberties from the original story, we don’t know how they could change things for Season 2. Anyone who’s played Part II knows that it’s a completely different structure storywise, so things could be shaken up for the television format.

If anything Craig Maizin and Neil Druckmann seem to know what they’re doing, and I’m ready to have them break my heart all over again when The Last of Us series come back.

No release date has been set for the second season of The Last of Us, but it’s possible we could get a premiere sometime late next year. Catch it on Max.

That ‘90s Show Teaser Showcases Returning Characters and Surprise Guest Stars https://www.geekfeed.com/that-90s-show-teaser-show-returning-characters/ Wed, 15 May 2024 10:40:36 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82414 That ‘70s Show was a hit when it came out back in the ‘90s, but it’s 2024 now, and Netflix has brought back Point Place Wisconsin in the form of That ‘90s Show. The first season has actually been split in three, and Netflix gives us a look at the upcoming Part 2 which is set to premiere this June.

Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the series Part 2 of That ’90s Show:

“It’s 1996 and Leia Forman is back in Point Place for another summer of fun with her friends and grandparents, Kitty and Red. Leia and Jay are excited to be together again after nine months of long distance. But she’s on edge since Jay still doesn’t know she almost kissed Nate. Nate is concerned that his girlfriend, Nikki, doesn’t know either. How long can they keep this secret? Turns out, not long at all. And when the truth finally comes out, relationships are threatened, friendships are at stake, and the summer is on the verge of ending before it even gets started.”

With the first part of the series really leaning in on the returning characters, it does look like they’ve toned it down for the nostalgia bait with Donna (Laura Prepon) being the only original cast member making an appearance this season.

Despite no Fez, or Kelso, or Eric coming back, the show is getting a bunch of interesting guest stars—specifically celebrities that were huge in the 90s including Lisa Loeb and Carmen Electra. The show is also not shy about the characters smoking pot, and it would make sense that they would bring in a cameo from cult pot dealers Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith) from Clerks. fame.

Othe guest stars include Matt Rife, Kadeem Hardison, Seth Green, Wayne Knight, and Will Forte.

Part 2 of That ‘90s Show premieres on Netflix on June 27 and Part 3 comes out Oct. 24.

Chris Hemsworth on Marvel Actors Who Bash the MCU https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-hemsworth-on-marvel-actors-who-bash-the-mcu/ Wed, 15 May 2024 10:25:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82411 It’s no mystery that the status of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken kind of a nosedive since Avengers: Endgame, and a lot of people—even MCU actors themselves—have been bashing the franchise.

Chris Hemsworth, fresh off of the divisive Thor: Love and Thunder, talks a bit about how those actors annoy him, and how he’s still thankful for getting to work with Marvel despite the decline in reputation. Hemsworth tells, The Times:

“It’s, like, ‘They’re films that are successful — put me in one. Oh, mine didn’t work? I’ll bash them…

“Look, I grew up on a soap opera, and it used to bother me when actors would later talk about the show with guilt or shame. Humility goes a long way. One of the older actors on Home and Away said, ‘We don’t get paid to make the good lines sound good, but to make the bad ones work.’ That stuck with me.

Though some people like to blame the superhero genre for tanking the movie industry, Hemsworth says that it’s more the fault of smartphones and social media. Hemsworth continues, “Cinema-going did not change because of superheroes, but because of smartphones and social media. Superhero films actually kept people in the cinemas during that transition and now people are coming back. So they deserve a little more appreciation.”

Even now, Hemsworth says he’s still open to return as Thor, if it can give him any chance to ‘redeem’ himself from the divisive nature of Love and Thunder. Personally, I did like Love and Thunder more than Ragnarok, but I was always eager for the Thor franchise to go back to its earlier tones—kind of like if the MCU had its own version of Lord of the Rings.

For now, Hemsworth is gearing up for the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga co-starring with Anya Taylor-Joy. Catch his Dementus when he rides into theaters on May 24.

Trailer for Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis is More Dazzling than You Could have Imagined https://www.geekfeed.com/trailer-for-megalopolis-finally-released/ Wed, 15 May 2024 09:51:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82418 We saw Adam Driver stop time in the first look Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, but that hasn’t prepared audiences for just how visually dazzling the film is aiming to be.

Just in, Coppola has dropped the first proper trailer for his passion project, and it’s chockfull of all kinds of stunning visuals that you can expect from a seasoned auteur. Check this out:

While Coppola himself at the helm was enough to get people buzzing about Megalopolis, it was also said that Coppola was having a hard time finding a studio that would be willing to market the movie because it was just said to be too artsy to sell to the general audience.

If A24 and Searchlight has proven anything though, it’s still possible to market more arthouse projects to mass audiences—but not every film can be sold the same way and have guaranteed success.

Just looking at the movie though, there has to be a reason why a director like Coppola was so insistent on having the project made. Sure, a lot of his recent films haven’t achieved Godfather-level status, but he’s still the guy who made those movies in the first place. Surely something about Megalopolis is so great that Coppola would have his complete faith in it.

Besides the director, the cast also looks fantastic. Adam Driver has proven himself to be a powerhouse performer, but bring in Aubrey Plaza, Giancarlo Esposito, Laurence Fishburne, Jason Shwartzman, and Nathalie Emmanuel, and we have a film that’s sure to turn some heads at Cannes this year.

I’m sure fans will even forgive that Shia LaBeouf is in this film.

Megalopolis is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this May, but we should expect a wide release sometime within the year.

Marvel Wants to Sue Leaker CanWeGetSomeToast https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-wants-to-sue-leaker-canwegetsometoast/ Tue, 14 May 2024 16:54:41 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82401 Though big corporations like Disney want to make sure that they keep a tight lid on projects from Star Wars or Marvel, there is always a chance that something will leak online without them meaning to.

CanWeGetSomeToast on IG has been providing some leaks here and there, but a recent story post about Captain America: Brave New World was apparently the last straw for Marvel Studios.

According to TorrentFreak, Marvel has filed for a DMCA subpoena to sniff out who is behind the CanWeGetSomeToast account. Essentially, they want Instagram to reveal information on the user so they will be able to find out who has been behind these leaks.

Marvel wants Instagram to reveal the name, physical address, IP address, e-mail, etc. of the person/people behind the CanWeGetSomeToast account in the hopes to finally stop these big leaks from happening. The catch though, is that it’s possible that IG could object to the demand.

Admittedly, there have been a number of leakers when it comes to Marvel and Star Wars, and CanWeGetSomeToast is just one of a few. I guess with the latest post, Marvel realized that it could be someone within the organization leaking these files without authorization; and they’ve obviously been profiting off of privileged information that they’ve been given access to.

Seeing as how huge the Marvel corporation is, everyone is thinking it’s only going to be a matter of time before CWGST gets unmasked; but admittedly Marvel is doing a slow job at promoting Cap America 4, and I don’t think these recent leak was that big a deal.

Catch Captain America: Brave New World when it hits theatres on Feb. 14, 2025.

Spider-Man Director Jon Watts Gives Advice for Next to Helm Spider-Man 4 https://www.geekfeed.com/jon-watts-gives-advice-for-spider-man-4/ Tue, 14 May 2024 16:23:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82395 Jon Watts has delivered us the Spider-Man “Home” trilogy for Marvel, and with the fourth film underway, it’s been revealed that Watts will be stepping aside to have someone else take the helm.

With everyone wondering who’s going to tackle Peter Parker’s story next, Watts does have some advice for the next director. Talking to Collider, Watts says that it was a fruitless endeavor to try and have Spider-Man do practical swinging:

“I have a very practical bit of Spider-Man advice, and I think every Spider-Man director goes through it. It doesn’t look good when someone is just swinging on a rope. You think you’re gonna go in there, you’re like, ‘we’re gonna do it all practical. We’re gonna get a stuntman. We’re gonna be swinging around.’ It’s boring. It looks dumb. It looks like a monkey swinging on a vine when you put someone on just a rope. Don’t waste your time. That’s my advice to the next Spider-Man director.”

Interestingly enough, The Amazing Spider-Man movie from Marc Webb did try to set itself apart from the Raimi films by having the first practical swinging scene in a Spidey film; and while I do think that the scene looks pretty great, it barely captures just how dynamic Spider-Man’s movements can get when compared to the comics or any other medium.

I just hope that the next director gives us more of the practical suit onscreen. Ever since Spider-Man debuted in the MCU, he’s always looked like he was completely CG compared to the other characters. Hopefully the new director will be able to let Holland look like he’s actually wearing a suit rather than just have his head on a CG body.

No release date has been set for the next Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland, but fans are hoping for a 2026 release.

Amazon’s Fallout Releases Gag Reel https://www.geekfeed.com/amazons-fallout-releases-gag-reel/ Tue, 14 May 2024 16:04:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82391 Amazon’s Fallout has one of the more silly lenses on the concept of the apocalypse, and just like any other series out there, we now have a gag reel for the show.

This just got officially released:

Besides just seeing the cast goof around on set, the reel also tells us just how much of the series was practical. We know that the Gulper that Lucy and Maximus run into is completely CG in the series, but they actually made a practical prop that could gush water for the cast to interact with.

Depsite some earlier doubts (myself included) about the show releasing all episodes on the same day, it turns out that Fallout was one of the most watched shows to come out on Amazon Prime Video since Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

For now, it’s been reported that Amazon has already greenlit the series for a second season, but we still don’t know how long Jonathan Nolan wants the show to play. We know that Lucy and the Ghoul are now on a quest to find the Ghoul’s family, but that will probably just lead them to go back to Lucy’s Vault 33—where her brother Norm could or couldn’t be forced into hypersleep.

There’s also the case of Maximus suddenly getting a promotion at the Brotherhood of Steel, and Lucy’s dad running off to New Vegas (which is a huge location for anyone whose played the games).

Check out the first season of Fallout now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Watch Behind-the-Scenes Preview for the Finale of Young Sheldon https://www.geekfeed.com/bts-preview-for-the-finale-of-young-sheldon/ Mon, 13 May 2024 09:15:50 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82398 Iain Armitage was just a little kid when Young Sheldon started back in 2017, and now he’s all-grown with the final season of the series coming to an end. The finale is expected to be a two-part end with episodes The Funeral and Memoir, and CBS just dropped a behind-the-scenes look with the actors and some returning faces from The Big Bang Theory.

Check this out:

Besides the main cast talking about their final moments with each other, we also have a look at Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik who will be both reprising their roles as Sheldon and Amy for the first time post TBBT. We don’t know how much of the finale they will be in, but it’s speculated that old Sheldon will contextualize the entire series as something he’s been recording for a memoir.

Fans are hoping we’ll get to see Sheldon’s own kids (one of them Leonard Cooper) in the show, seeing that the finale will also have Sheldon looking back at his relationship with his own father. I’m expecting some kind of callback or small cameo from the rest of the Big Bang Theory cast.

Just like TBBT, Young Sheldon has managed to become a huge hit. There are several factors as to why the series was such a success, but my guess is that the biggest reason was that the show managed to appeal to a huge chunk of the audience being as wholesome as it was while promoting conservative family values—a classic, feel-good sitcom.

For now, the show is looking to spinoff with Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) with Georgie and Mandy’s First Wedding. We don’t know if it’ ll manage to be as successful without Sheldon, but the characters are likeable enough, and we should get some cameos from the other Cooper family members.

The finale of Young Sheldon premieres on May 16 on CBS.

Marvel Rivals Data Miners have Found Other Unannounced Characters; Hela Officially Revealed https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-data-miners-found-characters/ Sun, 12 May 2024 09:03:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82346 Marvel Rivals is already gearing up to launch with a packed roster, but fans know that the developers at NetEase are waiting to reveal their biggest names in the game.

With a lot of players now gearing up for the closed beta, dataminers have allegedly found a bunch on characters in the game index that have not yet been officially revealed by the game. Check these out:

Among the unannounced Marvel Rivals characters include, the Fantastic Four roster, Hawkeye, Captain America, Cloak & Dagger, Ultron, Moon Knight, Squirrel Girl, Black Widow, Venom, Thor, Winter Soldier, Blade, Adam Warlock, Jeff the Landshark, Psylocke, Wolverine, and Iron Fist (Lin Lie).

And though she wasn’t revealed with the intial roster, we now have a full character reveal for Hela:

None may challenge Hela’s will! The Queen of Hel bestows her might upon those daring enough to join her! Gather the powers of Nastrond, from cursed crows to a rain of nightswords! As the living world trembles before death, Hela rises as the most chilling Duelist.

As the Timestream Entanglement erodes the veil between life and death, the Asgardian villain seeks to expand her rule beyond the Ten Realms! Dark dealings with her kin and other dark deities may be necessary, calling night upon the mortal Multiverse!

Based on the characters that have been officially revealed, and the ones that have been data-mined, it looks like we’re going to get a roster of 39 playable characters. We don’t know how NetEase plans to release them, but it’s possible they could be going the Overwatch route, releasing them based on player experience with most of the profits coming from cosmetics.

For now, fans are just waiting for the beta, but hopefully they’ll be able to work out the kinks and reveal even more characters by launch sometime later in the year.

The closed alpha for Marvel Rivals takes place on May 10.

Latest Trailer for Twisters Promises A New Kind of Disaster Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/twisters-promises-a-new-kind-of-disaster-movie/ Sun, 12 May 2024 08:58:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82342 They may not have been able to build an entire franchise around it, but Twister starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton was a hit when it came out back in the 90s. The movie followed a gang of ‘storm chasers’ who researched tornadoes in order to develop an advanced weather alert system.

The film was parts disaster movie and science-fiction, and Universal Studios is ready to come back to the franchise with their sequel Twisters. Check this out:

The official description reads:

Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Carter, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Anthony Ramos) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.

As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler, Javi and their crews find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.

It’s worth noting that the film is being directed by Lee Isaac Chung who is best known for his Oscar-nominated movie Minari. We also shouldn’t forget that the movie is also banking on the now-realized star power of Glen Powell, who wowed everyone with Top Gun: Maverick and solidified his leading man status opposite Sydney Sweeney in Anyone But You.

We’ve gotten a load of disaster movies before where we get to see entire cities get raised up and torn down, but Twisters looks like it’s going to put a focus on more small-scale disasters. Of course, that doesn’t mean that they’re any less horrific and it looks like the filmmakers are trying their best to amp up just how scary tornadoes can be.

One tornado isn’t good enough? Try two. Still not scary enough for you? What if we set it on fire?

Watch out for Twisters when the movie hits cinemas on July 19.

HBO Drops Trailer for Lady Gaga’s Chromatica Ball https://www.geekfeed.com/hbo-drops-trailer-for-lady-gagas-chromatica-ball/ Sun, 12 May 2024 08:53:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82338 A lot of fans may be excited to see Lady Gaga act off Joaquin Phoenix in the Joker sequel, but they haven’t forgotten that she’s one phenomenal performer with an act built on outrageous drag costumes and song/dance numbers.

Just in, HBO has dropped a trailer for Gaga Chromatica Ball, and it gives us a look at Gaga’s seventh headlining concert which took place July 17—September 17, 2022. Check this out:

Gaga also made the official announcement of the release  of Chromatica Ball on IG, and it came with the caption:

“I’m so excited that we can finally share The Chromatica Ball film with the world. This film chronicles a time of immense creativity…the fashion, the dance, the music. Revisiting the tour leaves me speechless the way we had each other—you all showed up for music and art in a big way, and with a level of excitement and freedom that I will never forget. Stadium after stadium. Sold out crowds. The deafening singalongs.

“Chromatica was colorful revenge. The chaos of it all became pure energy and life. With a texture best experienced live.”

Like the usual concert films go, we’ll probably be getting some snippets from behind the scenes playing in between all of the perfomances from the actual concert. With the concert having come out in 2022, you can imagine a lot of Gaga’s fans have been waiting for the release of this concert movie for a while.

Even Taylor Swift’s Eras tour managed to release a film in theaters about the concert before the tour was even finished. Eras is expected to have its final show this December.

Going back to Gaga though, her act is definitely more than just the music, and a lot of fans usually come to watch what kind of wacky visuals she’s going to be bringing onstage. Let’s hope that Chromatica gets people excited for Gaga’s Harley Quinn when Joker Folie a Deux comes out later this year.

Gaga Chromatica Ball comes to  Max on May 25.

Star Wars’ Overwatch Clone Star Wars: Hunters Finally Gets Release Date https://www.geekfeed.com/star-wars-hunters-finally-gets-release-date/ Sun, 12 May 2024 08:38:45 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82334 It was back in 2021 when we got our first look at Star WarsOverwatch clone Star Wars: Hunters, and updates on the game have been quiet the past few years—but the good news is, we finally have a solid release date.

As if not trying to get beat out by Marvel and their OW clone Marvel RivalsStar Wars has officially announced that their game Star Wars: Hunters will be ready to launch on June 4. Watch the cinematic reveal:

The main event is about to begin! Battle hard and reign victorious in the Arena! Pre-register now for awesome rewards at launch on June 4th

Unlike other Star Wars games that have come before it, Hunters is set to focus on a completely new set of characters—all of which are inspired by different specific elements from a galaxy far far away. You won’t be able to play as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, or Finn, but you will get the chance to play a wookiee, a droid Jedi, a Sith warrior, two Jawas in a trench coat, a Mandalorian, and an ugnaut riding a droideka—all of which have their own special set of abilities.

Not to mention you get to play in made-up arenas all inspired by different Star Wars planets. If anything, the Overwatch/shooter format is perfect for anyone who wants to make a game based on several colorful characters without wanting to break an established canon—that’s why Marvel Rivals happened.

Star Wars: Hunters is free-to-play and will be expected to launch for iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch on June 4.

Anya Taylor-Joy on Keeping Her Dune Cameo A Secret https://www.geekfeed.com/anya-taylor-joy-on-her-dune-cameo-a-secret/ Sun, 12 May 2024 08:30:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82330 Dune: Part Two was already filled to the brim with A-list actors from Zendaya to Timothee Chalamet, but fans were in for a surprise when it was revealed that Anya Taylor-Joy (Northman, The Witch) was also part of the cast as a future vision of Alia Atreides—Paul’s sister.

Apparently, the secret was very well kept for a while, and Anya Taylor-Joy talks to Variety about how only her and a small amount of the crew knew about the scene when they were shooting it. Here’s what she says:

“I think the most heartwarming thing about the secret of being in Dune is we all kept it for Denis. Denis desperately wanted to pull this off and if you’ve met him, or you admire him, you’ll know that he is just the most wonderful person and his energy toward filmmaking is so infectious that the idea that there was only twelve people in the world—most of that being the skeleton crew that we took to Namibia to shoot the scene—that we were all sitting on this secret that was really exciting and thrilling to be a part of.”

In the original book, Alia was actually four-years-old by the time the events of Dune end, but they decided to speed up the events for the film and have Lady Jessica pregnant with her when Paul takes over. Admittedly, this still added to the whole creep-factor of Alia being a talking fetus, and we got to see her personification in Taylor-Joy when she shows up in Paul’s vision when he drinks the Water of Life.

With Dune: Messiah getting the greenlight, we should expect Taylor-Joy to have an expanded role as Alia in the trilogy’s end. Fans don’t expect the movie to be accurate to the events of the book—because it’s too bonkers for cinema—but we should get something that harkens to the original message from Herbert; in that chosen one characters and charismatic leaders aren’t to be trusted and we should always be cautious of them.

No release date has been set for Dune: Messiah yet, but Dune: Part Two is now available on digital. You can also catch Taylor-Joy in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga when it comes to theaters May 24.
