Sauron’s Rise will Continue in New Trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

After the success of Fallout, Amazon Prime Video is now ready for the return of one of their biggest shows. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is ready to debut its second season this year, and we have our first teaser showcasing the continuing rise of Sauron.

Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the second season:

Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season 1’s epic scope and ambition, Season 2 of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.

Here’s also a better look at Sauron in his elven disguise:

The first season had ended with the forging of the three rings of the elves, so we should expect the second season to focus on the forging of the seven dwarven rings. Nine were made for the mortal men (who then became the Nazgul), and the One Ring was made for Sauron—making that a total of twenty rings.

Admittedly, Rings of Power has been having an uphill battle when it comes to its online reputation. Not only did it get overshadowed by House of the Dragon when it came out, but there has also been a branch of fans who have been hell bent on review-bombing the show for its ‘wokeness’. You can even read ROP slander on Game of Thrones threads.

Regardless, there have been some who have been supportive of the series, and appreciate the return to Middle-Earth. Personally, I think they capture the tone of the Peter Jackson films pretty well, and I’m eager to see where it goes. Sure it’s not as scandalous as HOTD, but I appreciate some ‘clean’ meticulous fantasy now and then.

Plus Morfydd Clark is a fantastic Galadriel.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 29.
