3 More Game of Thrones Spinoffs in Development at HBO

We have yet to get House of the Dragon on HBO, but we are already getting news of multiple spinoffs like an animated series and a spinoff featuring ‘Dunk and Egg’. Now word has it that there are three more projects in development.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the three Game of Thrones spinoffs will focus on The Sea Snake, Warrior Queen Nymeria, and Flea Bottom. The Sea Snake (or Lord Corlys Velaryon) is said to be a character that will be introduced in House of the Dragon, and this show (working title 9 Voyages) would focus on the story of the ‘Lord of the Tides.’

The project focused on Princess Nymeria (working title 10,000 Ships) is said to focus on the founder of the House of Dorne. This story is said to take place 1000 years before the events of Game of Thrones, so it would be the oldest story in the timeline. A prequel series had actually been shot which was also set during the Age of Heroes, but it never made it to series).

The last show would focus on the slums of King’s Landing called Flea Bottom. We don’t know exactly what story could be told there, but it is the place of origin for many characters including Davos Seaworth and Gendry Baratheon.

HBO is getting really ambitious with all these planned titles, especially since Game of Thrones didn’t end well and House of the Dragon hasn’t even premiered. If anything, I don’t think all of these properties have to be TV series; I would be fine with a movie or a miniseries focusing on specific characters. Then again, HBO is welcome to try as much as it can to milk the franchise. There’s really nowhere to go but up.

Catch House of the Dragon when it premieres on HBO sometime in 2022.
