Mission: Impossible – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Mon, 07 Aug 2023 12:42:57 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Mission: Impossible – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Fantastic Four: Kirby Allegedly Cast as Invisible Woman https://www.geekfeed.com/vanessa-kirby-allegedly-cast-as-invisible-woman/ Mon, 07 Aug 2023 12:42:57 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78107 We know that Marvel Studios is currently in pre-production for Fantastic Four, and the casting process is currently underway. We haven’t had any official updates on the cast yet, but the film may have just found their Invisible Woman.

According to The Hot Mic (via @DiscussingFilm), Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible, The Crown) has been cast as Sue Storm a.k.a. Sue Richards a.k.a. The Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four. So far, nothing official has been announced by Marvel Studios, so it’s best to take this news with a grain of salt.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Adam Driver had turned down the part of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, and it’s also said that Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) is being eyed for the part of Sue’s younger brother Johnny Storm a.k.a. The Human Torch. We haven’t gotten any updates on The Thing, but there was a rumor going around a while back that Jason Segel (Shrinking) was going to voice the part, and he was going to appear in She-Hulk—but I guess that didn’t happen.

If Marvel would announce the Fantastic Four, I do have a feeling that they would announce all the actors together—alongside their chief rival Doctor Doom, who Marvel apparently has huge plans for. We don’t know exactly how far into the process they are, but after a mixed bag of a year with Quantumania and Secret Invasion, fans are hoping that they get back to their groove soon.

For now, fans are waiting for The Marvels which is set to release in theaters on Nov. 10. You can also watch out for Kirby in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One now in theaters.

Nicholas Hoult Screen Tested for The Batman and Top Gun: Maverick https://www.geekfeed.com/hoult-screen-tested-for-the-batman-and-top-gun/ Tue, 18 Apr 2023 16:59:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76355 Nicholas Hoult may be working for a “Bat Man” in Renfield, but he was almost Batman in Matt Reeves recent reimagining of The Dark Knight starring Robert Pattinson.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Hoult reveals that he tested for Batman and Top Gun: Maverick. He explains:

“I screen-tested for Batman and didn’t get it. Screen-tested for Top Gun, didn’t get it. Then I got the call from Tom Cruise: ‘Hey, how about Mission Impossible?’ OK. Got it. Then I had to drop out because I was already attached to do some more of The Great.”

Though it’s a shame that Hoult wasn’t able to land any roles in successful films, he still has his role in The Great which I have to say is personally one of the favorites. Not only does Hoult play a loveable idiot, but the character is also full of so much layers it moves from vile to adorable in a snap.

With Hoult’s track record, I think there’s still a lot of opportunities for him to star in a big franchise. After all, he was Beast in the final X-Men movies for Fox. Whose to say he won’t land a role in a future DC film. I can see him make a fine Scarecrow for Pattinson’s Batman; how about failed actor Clayface?

Catch Hoult in The Great when it comes to Hulu on May 12. Hoult also stars in Renfield with Nicolas Cage which is now out in theaters.

Tom Cruise is the Center of Another Insane Stunt in Featurette for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning https://www.geekfeed.com/tom-cruise-is-the-center-of-another-insane-stunt/ Wed, 21 Dec 2022 14:13:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72569 After the massive success of Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise is set to return to one of his main action franchises, Mission: Impossible. The upcoming movie promises even more crazy stunts from Cruise, and we have a new featurette covering Cruise’s big stunt for the film—which will have him driving a motorcycle off a cliff and pulling a parachute after he does the jump.

Check this out:

I’ll admit, we’ve probably seen some crazier things on previous Mission: Impossible films, but the fact that we can see that it’s Cruise doing the jump and pulling the chute himself is what makes the stunt so heart-stopping. I actually found myself holding my breath just waiting to see the parachute open after the fall.

With Cruise on the last legs of the Mission: Impossible franchise, it would make sense that they would want to up the ante when it comes to the stunts. At 60-years-old, we don’t expect Cruise to be doing this forever, but if he’s going out, it looks like he’s going to be doing it with the biggest bang possible.

We don’t know the future of the M:I franchise after Dead Reckoning, but I think Cruise may want to pass the mantle to someone else who has the same kind of moxie as him when it comes to action movies. Jeremy Renner may be too old now, but I’m curious who could take the reins from Ethan Hunt moving forward.

Mission: Impossible –Dead Reckoning Part One is set to hit theaters on July 14, 2023.

Tom Cruise Wants to Bring Back Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder https://www.geekfeed.com/cruise-wants-to-bring-back-les-grossman/ Thu, 11 Aug 2022 15:39:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70509 Tropic Thunder was one of the biggest comedies to come out of the 2000s, and one unforgettable character in the series is Les Grossman played by a heavily made up Tom Cruise. Though there’s no Tropic Thunder sequel in sight, Cruise is said to be interested in bringing back his foul-mouthed studio executive.

According to Deadline, Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie are said to be ‘fixated’ on the character of Les Grossman and may be looking to put him in another project. While a Les Grossman movie is the go-to speculation of some fans, it’s likely Grossman could be another supporting character in an entirely different property.

Who knows, maybe they can bring back some celebrities from the fictional world of Tropic Thunder like Ben Stiller’s Tug Speedman or Robert Downey Jr.’s Kirk Lazarus. You think Brandon T. Jackson would be willing to reprise the ‘Booty Sweat’ promoting Alpa Chino?

With Top Gun: Maverick and the Mission: Impossible films, it seems that Cruise has been focused more on action-heavy films lately, and who can blame him? He’s pretty fantastic in them. I guess it would be a nice break for him to just let loose and have fun once in a while rather than repeatedly conceptualizing different ways to put his character in danger.

We don’t know when Les Grossman could be returning, but you can watch out for Cruise when Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One comes out to theaters July 14, 2023.

Next 2 Mission: Impossible Films Reportedly Tom Cruise’s Last https://www.geekfeed.com/next-2-mission-impossible-films-reportedly-tom-cruises-last/ Wed, 09 Feb 2022 13:12:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64029 It’s been 26 years since we were introduced to Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, and with two more Mission: Impossible films underway, word has it that this could be Cruise’s final time portraying the legendary agent.

In a new report from Variety, it’s been said that the next two films will be sending off the character of Ethan Hunt. They specifically write, “the plan is for the seventh and eighth films to serve as a sendoff for Cruise’s Ethan Hunt character,” and they also say that the films will be the “culmination of the entire series.”

While the Mission: Impossible movies are definitely not Marvel films, they have managed to keep going for the past few years with solid entries every time. They don’t have any superheroes, but with every MI entry, you can bet there’s a crazy dangerous stunt/setpiece, and Cruise is going to be doing a lot of it himself.

With Tom Cruise turning 60 this year, there’s no way that he could keep playing the demanding role of Ethan Hunt forever. Maybe this way, he at least gets to send the character off with a bang. Should we expect someone else to take on the Mission: Impossible mantle with Cruise gone? It was said that they were trying to do that when Jeremy Renner came onboard during Ghost Protocol, but he definitely doesn’t have the same star status that Cruise had when he started working on these films. Sorry, Hawkeye.

Mission: Impossible 7 comes out July 14, 2023 and Mission: Impossible 8 hits theaters June 28, 2024.
