Disney did release the Blu-Ray for the series though, and that comes with an extra feature in the form of a gag reel.

Check this out:

Though there has been a decline in physical media since the rise of streaming, there are still some fans who have been demanding that some shows get physical releases—specifically Marvel and Star Wars series that released straight on Disney+.

Besides the novelty of collecting, there has also been a rising concern with the recent moves of characters like WB Discovery head David Zaslav who has been opting to delete IP on the HBO platform for tax write offs. Even some creators online have been encouraging fans to pirate their material because there will be no other way to view them legally.

In a now-deleted post from Over the Garden Wall creator Patrick McHale, he writes, “I hope somebody is out there ripping & saving all the stuff on streaming services because I’m pretty sure so much of it s gonna just disappear and become lost media.”

As for Moon Knight, the property was considered unique when it came out, but there hasn’t been any updates on the character or what Disney wants to do with the IP. Will Oscar Isaac even be willing to come back to reprise the role? We’ll just have to wait and see.

For now, you can check out Moon Knight now streaming on Disney+.

The Claws Come Out in Full Trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine https://www.geekfeed.com/full-trailer-for-deadpool-wolverine-released/ Wed, 24 Apr 2024 10:30:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82066 Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was only teased in the first preview for Deadpool & Wolverine, but now we get to see him back at it with the latest trailer for the movie.

Check the trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine out:

Though we know that Wade gets hired by the TVA to be ‘Marvel Jesus’, we also get a bit of background on this version of Logan. It does look like this Wolverine is the reason his world is dead and him teaming up with Deadpool will be his redemption arc.

Besides a lot of Logan, we also get a look at Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), who looks to be the main villain of the series. In the comics, Nova is Professor X’s ‘dark twin’ who Xavier tried to kill while they were in the womb together—no, seriously.

It looks like Nova is the one who runs this 20th Century Fox Marvel wasteland, and we get to see some discarded characters from early X-Men films including Lady Deathstrike (X-Men 2), Azazel (X-Men: First Class), and Callisto (X-Men: The Last Stand). Even when Nova is instroduced, we see her getting off of what some assume is Charles Xavier’s wheelchair.

Of course, we should also expect some references to non-Fox properties in Deadpool &  Wolverine. We get to see Alioth, the cloud monster at the end of time from Loki; and Nova’s base of operations looks to be the dead body of Giant/Ant-Man—something right out of Old Man Logan.

So far, a very obscure cameo-fest looks to be happening, but I am hoping that director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds have a meaningful story in mind for Deadpool’s jump into the MCU. I’m just honestly hoping this doesn’t mean 10 more years of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine because I would love for someone else to finally take on the role.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to come into theaters on July 26.

Disney+ is Looking to Introduce a Classic ‘Channels’ Feature https://www.geekfeed.com/disney-to-introduce-a-classic-channels-feature/ Wed, 17 Apr 2024 15:50:11 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81973 Watching television has greatly changed over the last few years ever since the rise of streaming services, but there are still some audiences that look to be going back to the old ways.

According to The Information (via @DiscussingFilm), Disney+ is looking to introduce an old school concept in the form of ‘channels’ to its streaming service. The idea is that it would function like classic cable, and there would be different channels that users could log into depending on the genre or brand like Star Wars or Marvel.

The idea of introducing channels to a streaming service isn’t entirely new. Netflix had also tried to make their own channel feature which would allow users to log in to one continuously streaming channel, but I guess that didn’t really take off. I guess Disney is shaking things up a bit by having multiple channels that are curated by genre.

Though streaming does allow for people to watch whatever they want at their own leisure, a lot of users have admitted that they miss the idea of having to watch something around the same time as everyone else. There’s also the concept of tyranny of choice; with so many options at their hands, some users actually just want someone to make the decision for them as to what to watch next.

We don’t know if Disney’s new channel concept will fly yet, but it wouldn’t hurt to try. A lot of people thought that full-season releases were ideal at the start, but as time went on, they realized that weekly releases for a show was the best way to gauge engagement for a prolonged period of time.

Disney+ is now available in select regions.

How Captain America: Brave New World will Address the Thunderbolt Ross Recast https://www.geekfeed.com/brave-new-world-will-address-the-ross-recast/ Wed, 17 Apr 2024 09:31:31 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81957 William Hurt had played the role of Thunderbolt Ross since The Incredible Hulk in 2008, and he’s reprised the role several times for Civil War, Black Widow, and Avengers: Endgame. Now Ross is set to have a more major role in Captain America: Brave New World, and he’s been recast with Harrison Ford.

With Marvel doing a recast before with characters like Rhodey a.k.a. War Machine, it’s said that Brave New World is also going to explain the change in Ross’ look from previous films. According to @CanWeGetToast, the exchange between Sam Wilson and Ross is going to go as follows:

Just for a refresher, here’s the scene from Iron Man 2 which addresses the recast of Rhodey with Don Cheadle:

TONY: “Hey buddy. Didn’t expect to see you here.”
RHODEY: “Look, it’s me. I’m here. Deal with it. Let’s move on.”

If anything, I think the lines between Sam and Ross are cheekier, especially with them giving Ross a completely different look; not even attempting to give Ford the moustache or the same kind of hair. That being said, I am eager to watch infamous grump Ford try to fit in with the MCU as a character who isn’t too pleased with superheroes to begin with.

We don’t know when Marvel is going to drop the first teaser for Captain America 4, but with the release set for early 2025, it’s likely we could get something around the latter end of the year—maybe after the release of Deadpool & Wolverine.

For now, Captain America: Brave New World is set to release in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025. You can catch Sam’s journery to becoming Captain America in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.

X-Men ’97 Showrunner on How 9/11 Inspired the ‘Remember It’ Episode https://www.geekfeed.com/x-men-97-showrunner-on-the-remember-it-episode/ Tue, 16 Apr 2024 07:50:30 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81917 SPOILER WARNING FOR X-MEN ’97 EPISODE ‘REMEMBER IT’

It’s no mystery that X-Men ’97 has been getting a lot of praise online, but the latest episode Remember It has got to be one of the biggest  moments in the entire show, killing off two principal characters alongside a whole genocide in the mutant nation of Genosha.

Though Marvel had fired him earlier, ex-showrunner Beau DeMayo had been coming out online to share some insight on the released episodes, and he says that the mutant genocide was a very personal story drawing inspiration from the events of the 9/11 attacks.

The world [back in the 90s] was a simple place of right and wrong, where questions about identity and social justice had relatively clear cut answers… Then 9/11 happened, and the world turned against itself.”

When it came to the character of Gambit, he said that the show was purposefully getting the audience to like him, so that when he dies, it’s supposed to mirror the experience of knowing someone who died in a huge tragedy. “If events like 9/11, Tulsa, Charlottesville, or Pulse Nightclub teach us anything, it’s that too many stories are often cut far too short.”

We don’t know where the show is headed yet, but fans are already praising just how seriously X-Men ’97 is taking its themes on prejudice and social justice—all while having the quips and action that you can expect from a comic book property.

For now, fans are still curious about how the show’s reception will affect DeMayo’s reputation, but there have been some fans calling to bring him back. I mean, it happened for James Gunn before. I’m just curious if Marvel knows something about DeMayo that we don’t.

Deadpool & Wolverine Promo Art Reveals Deadpool Corps and Wolvy Cowl https://www.geekfeed.com/deadpool-wolverine-art-reveals-deadpool-corps/ Thu, 11 Apr 2024 18:13:47 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81843 Marketing has been very sparse for Deadpool and Wolverine, but some promo images have been leaking online giving us a look at what more to expect from the movie.

Just in, some merch has come out revealing the members of the Deadpool Corps.—several variants of Deadpool from across the Multiverse including Dogpool, Headpool, Kidpool, and Babypool (albeit some glare is blocking him). We also get a better look at Wolverine’s classic cowl complete with the white eyes. Check this out:

Based on what we know from the trailer, Deadpool will be hired by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) for some kind of mission. We don’t know exactly what they want him to do—or how Wolverine factors into this—but we are expecting a nostalgic romp of everything Marvel pre-MCU including characters from the original X-Men films as well as the spinoffs like Daredevil, Elektra, and Fantastic Four.

You think there’s room for Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider in this film?

With a release set for July, we may have to wait t abit more until we get a new trailer. With promos usually being released 4 months and 2 months before, it’s possible we could get a full official trailer with Hugh Jackman and the Deadpool Corps. Sometime before the month ends.

Admittedly, the MCU is not riding as high as it was before, but hopefully Deadpool & Wolverine will manage to bring the hype back to this franchise.

Catch Deadpool & Wolverine when they cut their way into theaters on July 26.

Marvel Drops New Poster for The Fantastic Four on 4-4 https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-drops-new-poster-for-the-fantastic-four/ Mon, 08 Apr 2024 10:04:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81809 The Avengers may be the biggest team-up for the MCU, but the studio is also gearing up for the coming of Marvel’s first family in the form of The Fantastic Four.

Since it is April 4 a.k.a. 4-4, Marvel Studios has dropped a new poster featuring Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch, but there’s even more to it:

Besides the classic Torch look with the ‘4’ on his chest, fans have also noticed that there is a different kind of futuristic city in the background—which kind of confirms that the movie is going to be taking place in an alternate reality to the MCU.

If you also look at the link on the post,  it will send you on a tiny Easter Egg hunt. You may as well click on it now if you don’t want the game to be spoiled, but if you don’t have the time, the final destination of the game will bring you to a page for the Future Foundation an alternate rebranding of the Fantastic Four, and Marvel has given access to fans for the main comics that will inspire the upcoming film. They include:

Fantastic Four #1 – The first appearance of the Fantastic Four

Fantastic Four #48 , #49, and #50 – The coming of the Silver Surfer and the threat of Galactus

Fantastic Four: Life Story – A look back at the Fantastic Four over the years

A lot of these stories take place in the 60s, so we should get a good idea of what kind of tone we can expect from the upcoming movie. With the plot taking place in an alternate universe, a lot of fans are convinced that we’re definitely going to see Galactus eat the planet—so the F4 will know just how huge a threat he is when they get to the prime universe of the MCU.

Then again, that’s just speculation.

For now, The Fantastic Four is set to release in theatres on July 25, 2025.

Fantastic Four has Cast a Female Silver Surfer https://www.geekfeed.com/fantastic-four-has-cast-a-female-silver-surfer/ Sun, 07 Apr 2024 08:26:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81792 MCU’s Fantastic Four is slowly coming together, and though we’ve had the announcement of the main cast for a while, everyone is still curious about who they’re going to be going up against.

Just in, Deadline has reported that Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna) is going to be starring as a female version of the Silver Surfer a.k.a. the Herald of Galactus.

The most popular iteration of the Silver Surfer is no doubt Norrin Radd who was played by Doug Jones in Rise of the Silver Surfer. This character though Shalla-Bal, is a variant of the Surfer from the comics. In the original continuity, Shalla-Bal was Radd’s first love, and he had made a deal with Galactus to find planets for him to eat, just so his planet would be spared.

We don’t know if the movie will eventually give us the Norrin Radd surfer, but there has been a rumor going around that this Fantastic Four would come from an alternate timeline. We don’t know how they’ll be fitting in the MCU yet, but with The Marvels already opening up the multiverse, we should expect Reed Richards and his family to also have something to do with experiments that have them jumping around the multiverse.

With the Surfer making an appearance in this movie though, everyone is expecting Galactus to be confirmed soon enough. We don’t know who could possibly play him, but I am up for the fancasting of Anya Taylor-Joy. I’d watch her snack on a planet like she ate that burger in The Menu.

The Fantastic Four is set to release in theatres on July 25, 2025.

Disney Responds to Billionaire Investor Who Wants 2 Board Seats https://www.geekfeed.com/disney-responds-to-billionaire-investor/ Wed, 27 Mar 2024 15:17:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81663 It’s no mystery that the Disney company has been in kind of a slump recently, and add to that their online presence is frequently being trolled by thousands of ‘anti-woke’ sentiment. With Bob Iger having to take over for his supposed successor Bob Chapek, billionair investor Nelson Peltz had made public what he thought was wrong with the media giant.

Talking to Financial Times, Peltz, who has allegedly been trying to get two board seats at Disney, explained how he thinks the company has stumbled when it comes to their huge IP. When it came to the topic of Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, Peltz said,  that he ‘questioned his record’. When it came to the “woke” accusations at Marvel property, Peltz said:

“I wasn’t that crazy about it… Why do I have to have a Marvel that’s all women? Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do that? Why can’t I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need an all-Black cast?”

Already, everyone online had colorful things to say about Peltz and his comments, but Disney has decided to release a statement explaining that Peltz’s comments to FT were exactly why they didn’t want to give him a seat on the board. On regards to Peltz, Disney says that he “brings no media experience and has presented no strategic ideas for Disney,” and that he would just further muddle the creative process and the progress Disney has made with their current direction.

https://twitter.com/CultureCrave/status/1772351417350504708

Admittedly, the image of these big CEOs taking over big media companies has not been the best of late—just look at David Zaslav and how much bad blood he’s managed to cultivate with creatives and their audiences with what he’s done to WB Discovery.

Of course, depending on who’s running things, Disney could change their tone with Peltz in the future, but for now, fans are happy to see the company condemn someone who is open about being against the progressive route the company is trying to pave.

More 90s Marvel Animated Properties could be Revived Through X-Men ‘97 https://www.geekfeed.com/more-90s-marvel-could-be-revived-through-x-men-97/ Wed, 27 Mar 2024 15:07:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81676 X-Men ’97 may have been caught in a snag when showrunner Beau DeMayo was fired right before the premiere, but reviews for the series have been sparkling, and the X-Men are back, bigger than ever.

With X-Men just being one of the bigger Marvel properties of the 90s, fans were wondering if other shows from that era were going to get a revival, and it just might be possible.

As per a Discord Q&A with insider Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), Marvel is currently thinking of making a ‘90s Animated Universe’ which will be explored via X-Men ’97. When asked if there was a chance we could see the return of animated versions of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man, Perez replied:

There have been discussions about exploring a Marvel 90s animated universe, which would most likely be explored through X-Men ’97 at this time. There is potential for more projects to be developed within this universe, the most likely candidate being a sequel series to Spider-Man: The Animated Series, but this is still very early in development as an idea being tossed around.

For context, here’s the intro for 90s’ Spider-Man: The Animated Series:

With the original series having their own cameo appearances from other heroes, it’s very likely that X-Men ’97 could be doing the same thing—especially with how Marvel has been treating cameos in all their recent projects.

With another Spider-Man animated series in the works, I’m not sure if a revival of 90s Spider-Man would be a smart decision, but if it’s just a cameo appearance in X-Men ’97, I guess it wouldn’t feel like it was trying to overshadow the new Spider-Man show.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. For now, catch X-Men ’97 now streaming on Disney+.

Star Trek and Fast X Director Being Eyed to Helm Spider-Man 4 https://www.geekfeed.com/star-trek-director-eyed-for-spider-man-4/ Wed, 27 Mar 2024 13:38:31 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81659 Jon Watts had already delivered the ‘Home’ trilogy for Sony’s new Spider-Man movies, and now everyone is wondering who is going to be taking over for Tom Holland’s next outing as Spider-Man.

While we expect a bunch of different directors to make the short list, one helmer who has worked on multiple huge franchises was said to have entered the discussion.

According The InSneider (via @DiscussingFilm), Justin Lin (Fast X, Star Trek Beyond) is currently in the mix to direct the next Spider-Man movie. No details have been revealed about the story, but it’s said that production is being eyed to begin in September or October.

While nothing official has been revealed about the plot, rumors are going around that Marvel Studios would like to keep things at a ‘street-level’ story for Peter Parker, but Sony is trying to get them to do another Multiverse story where they can bring in some more Spider-Man variants.

We don’t know what the studios are ending up with, but at this point, Spider-Man seems to be over-inflated with multiverse stories (even in animation) and this Peter Parker could use some time to focus on his own life and universe in the meantime.

For now, Sony is still perplexing fans with their approach to their biggest superhero IP, with projects like Madame Web, Kraven the Hunter, and Venom: The Last Dance. Sure the Spider-Verse films have been getting great reviews, but after Beyond, what direction does the studio plan to go?

No release date has been set for Spider-Man 4, but a 2026 release could be realistic.

Marvel Studios Allegedly Wants to Keep Kang as the Main Villain for Next Avengers Movies https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-studios-allegedly-wants-to-keep-kang/ Mon, 18 Mar 2024 14:31:55 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81534 Marvel Studios spent 10 years building up to Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, and now they want to do something entirely different with the character of Kang the Conqueror—too bad they couldn’t keep Jonathan Majors though.

With Majors getting fired by Marvel last year, rumors have been going around on the studio replacing or scrapping the Kang concept entirely. Good news for Kang fans though, it looks like the MCU is going to set out to finish what they started—without Majors’ involvement.

According to insider Daniel RPK (via @HollywoodHandle), Kang is still expected to be the main villain of the next two Avengers films. What’s more, Marvel is also expected to add one more villain to the mix alongside Kang—possibly the MCU’s version of Doctor Doom.

We don’t have any solid news on who is going to take over the Kang role, but some names that have been making the press rounds include Colman Domingo (Transformers: Rise of the Beast, Euphoria) and John David Washington (TENET). Some have even been calling for Chukwudi Iwuji to take on the role; with the canon explanation that his High Evolutionary from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be a Kang variant.

I’ll admit, it’s kind of a bummer that we won’t be able to see Majors’ finished version of Kang’s arc, but besides the Quantumania Kang, his alternate versions of the character were considered to be a bit mid-tier when it comes to portrayal. Some even like to tease He Who Remains from Loki kind of feels like an odd theater kid performance.

We don’t know who the next Kang is going to be, but I’m happy Marvel isn’t throwing out what they’ve been building up to since 2020.

Marvel has Fired the Showrunner of X-Men ‘97 https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-has-fired-the-showrunner-of-x-men-97/ Fri, 15 Mar 2024 02:36:57 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81492 A lot of Marvel fans were excited this March for the premiere of the revival of the animated X-Men series from the ‘90s, but the show has suddenly been caught in a shocking snag.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has suddenly fired X-Men ’97 creator and showrunner Beau DeMayo. His company e-mail had been deactivated, and his social media has been deleted. Marvel has not released any official reason for why DeMayo had been fired, but the cast and crew of his series was informed that he would no longer be attached to the project.

It’s very surprising that Marvel should fire DeMayo now as we’re only weeks away from the premiere of the series. DeMayo was already said to have scheduled multiple interviews for the coming weeks, and there were even plans for him to attend the Hollywood premiere.

For now, fans can only speculate on why DeMayo was fired. Some would cite creative differences—which is the usual reason—but DeMayo has been working with Marvel for a while, having written for Moon Knight and the upcoming reboot of Blade. Why would they suddenly decide to stop collaborating with him.

I guess all we really have to do is wait. A lot of fans are still anxious about the upcoming reboot; maybe it’s quality when it releases will give us an idea of what the rift between the studio and the showrunner could be about.

X-Men ’97 arrives on Disney+ on March 20.

Ms. Marvel’s Iman Vellani Talks Her Next Appearance as Kamala Khan https://www.geekfeed.com/iman-vellani-talks-her-next-appearance-ms-marvel/ Wed, 06 Mar 2024 10:10:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81326 The Marvels may have not made a splash in the box office as expected, but Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) manages to be a fan favorite.

The Marvels had teased Kamala building her own team of Young Avengers, but we don’t know exactly when they’ll show up. Luckily, Vellani has given us a small update.

Talking to Polygon, Vellani confirms, “I have been assured… So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. [laugh] They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it.”

Though Ms. Marvel wasn’t as big as WandaVision, the series still had some huge milestones for the MCU. Besides setting up Kamala’s character for The Marvels, the series had also revealed that Kamala is the MCU’s very first mutant—which means that we could very well see her be connected with the MCU’s version of the X-Men.

Fingers crossed that they bring Kamala in for Deadpool 3, seeing as that property is expected to officially close Fox’s era of X-Men movies and pass the torch on over to Marvel. With Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman onboard, you can’t expect a better team-up for the mutant sendoff/reboot.

Going back to Ms. Marvel though, there are multiple ways for her to show up in the future, but based on what Marvel is planning (and how it’s recently been blown up because of the Jonathan Majors fiasco), maybe they just want to get back to solid ground before they start connecting more and more dots in the future.

For now, you can check out Ms. Marvel and The Marvels now showing on Disney+.

Florence Pugh Confirms Thunderbolts has Started Shooting https://www.geekfeed.com/pugh-confirms-thunderbolts-has-started-shooting/ Thu, 29 Feb 2024 16:39:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81247 Florence Pugh has steadily grown to be one of the most in-demand actresses in the industry today, and after projects like Oppenheimer and Dune: Part Two, everyone is wondering if she was still going to stay for Marvel Studios’ villain-centric team-up—Thunderbolts.

As it turns out, the movie has apparently started shooting. Talking to ET (via @tbolt_news) during the Dune red carpet, Pugh confirms that she’s already started shooting scenes for the movie. Watch this:

“I’ve just started my next Marvel movie, Thunderbolts. I’ve been shooting that, and I just can’t believe I’ve been able to—I couldn’t make it [to the SAG Awards] last night unfortunately because I was working, but I managed to squeeze this one in; so I’m very grateful that I’ve managed to juggle all of them at the same time.”

Pugh hasn’t given an update on what we should expect from her in the film, but she has already shown up in several Marvel Studios projects—one of which was Hawkeye where she was paired up with Hailee Steinfeld.

Pugh is no doubt a solid actress, and is expected to stick around in the MCU for a while, but based on all the projects that she’s been getting recently, some are suspecting that Marvel will have to work pretty hard to keep her around.

I’m hoping that Pugh will be a good sport about it; I mean, even Scarlett Johansson was able to keep doing Black Widow around all of her non-Marvel work.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts is expected to release in theatres on May 2, 2025.

Shang-Chi Director to Helm Live-Action Naruto https://www.geekfeed.com/shang-chi-director-to-helm-live-action-naruto/ Tue, 27 Feb 2024 09:06:20 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81226 We’ve gone a long way since Dragon Ball: Evolution, and we’re starting to get some well-regarded anime live-action adaptations after One Piece and the recent Avatar: The Last Airbender. One other massive anime property from the 00s was Naruto, and it looks like it’s next in line for the live-action treatment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) has been hired to write and direct a live-action adaptation of the hit anime Naruto. We don’t have much details on where that story will go, but I imagine that it’s going to be another origin film which will be a good jumping off point for fans who aren’t familiar with the IP.

For context, Naruto was a manga that launched back in 1999 from author Masashi Kishimoto and it pretty much dominated the anime pop-culture sphere until it ended in 2014.

The story follows a young ninja in training Naruto Uzumaki as he trains hard to fight other enemy ninjas in a quest to become the next Hokage–the leader of his village.

Also, there’s a demonic 9-tailed fox sealed inside of him which gives him crazy powers, but he’s also a goofball and gets into shenanigans with his other ninja friends.

Admittedly, there is always pressure when it comes to these live-action adaptations to deliver, but Kishimoto does seem confident with Cretton. In a press release, he said:

When I heard of Destin’s attachment, it happened to be right after watching a blockbuster action film of his, and I thought he would be the perfect director for Naruto. After enjoying his other films and understanding that his forte is in creating solid dramas about people, I became convinced that there is no other director for Naturo. In actually meeting Destin, I also found him to be an open-minded director who was willing to embrace my input, and felt strongly that we would be able to cooperate together in the production process.

Naruto has no release window yet, but hopefully we get a significant update before the year ends.

Is Dave Bautista Campaigning for a DC Role? https://www.geekfeed.com/is-dave-bautista-campaigning-for-a-dc-role/ Thu, 22 Feb 2024 14:13:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81143 After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, you’d think that Dave Bautista would be ready to move on to artsier projects like Glass Onion and Dune: Part Two; but now it looks like he wants to make the jump from Marvel to DC.

Bautista has been a fan-favorite fancast for the character of Bane from Batman, and Bautista has shared a fan edit from Boss Logic of him as the Man Who Broke the Bat. Check this out:

Bautista has been fancast by several people as Bane for years, but there is also the camp of fans who want to see him try out a role that isn’t so physically imposing; some think he could be a fantastic Hugo Strange for a future Batman film just based on his minimal role in the Blade Runner sequel:

Admittedly, the Marvel star has been lauded for being the best ‘wrestler-turned-actor’ among his batch, with John Cena trailing behind him. Of course, the success of Dwayne Johnson can’t be ignored, but among critics, the Rock can pretty much only play one character, and no amount of Black Adam story is going to make him suddenly more interesting.

As for Bautista, I am hoping that he managed to branch out to non-brute roles, but I would still line up to watch him play Bane. After Tom Hardy’s take on the character, I am curious as to how else they could approach him moving forward.

Watch out for Bautista in Dune: Part Two which hits cinemas on March 1.

Fantastic Four Reboot Taking Place in the 60s? https://www.geekfeed.com/fantastic-four-reboot-taking-place-in-the-60s/ Mon, 19 Feb 2024 16:18:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81087 After months of speculation, Marvel Studios has finally revealed the official cast for their Fantastic Four reboot, and that includes Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm).

This reveal was made with a Valetine’s post of artwork with the team in uniform:

We don’t know yet if this is the actual uniform for the movie or some holiday-themed get-up, but the poster does have fans speculating that the movie will be a period piece not unlike Captain America: The First Avenger.

Besides the overall aesthetic, fans are looking at the magazine that Ben Grimm is holding, and it does look like an actual issue that came out in the 60s.

Until Marvel decides to reveal more, all we can really do is guess; but it would make sense for Marvel’s “First Family” to have a story that takes place earlier in the timeline. With the ‘present’ MCU already filled to the brim with all kinds of geniuses, it’s kind of interesting to think that their new Fantastic Four would be people out of time that will have to adjust to the world and new technology.

It would also explain why they’ve been missing since the first Iron Man.

Admittedly, the MCU has been in a bit of a slump since Endgame, but fans are hopeful that after enough time has passed, we could be seeing a new, thought-out direction from the studio moving forward.

Catch The Fantastic Four when it comes out in theaters July 25, 2025.

Star Wars: Samuel L. Jackson Really Wants a Mace Windu Spinoff https://www.geekfeed.com/samuel-l-jackson-wants-a-mace-windu-spinoff/ Fri, 16 Feb 2024 17:32:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81066 Samuel L. Jackson may be one of the tenets of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nick Fury, but back in the 00s, he was Jedi Master Mace Windu. With all the new Star Wars spinoffs like Kenobi and Boba Fett coming out, Jackson has been very vocal about having Windu come back somehow, and in a new interview, he shows that he hasn’t changed his stance.

Talking to Empire, Jackson exclaims, “He’s not dead!” and when the site tried to ask him what kind of project he would have liked to work on, Jackson just said, “Everything, yes!”

For context, Jackson’s Mace Windu had been one of the main Jedi masters of the entire sequel trilogy, finally brandishing a lightsaber in Attack of the Clones, then falling to his death thanks to Darth Sidious and Anakin Skywalker.

With so many characters coming back to life, a lot of fans think that it’s ultimately better for Star Wars if some characters stayed dead, but there could be ways for Jackson to come back in some form without having to resurrect Windu.

He already did a voice cameo as Windu in The Rise of Skywalker, but some fans have been pitching a young Windu series with someone else taking on the role. If they want to go further with the Ahsoka series, I think they could just bring in a hologram of young Windu in Clone Wars armor, and use some of that Captain Marvel magic to de-age Jackson.

For now, Mace Windu remains a dead Jedi, but there’s always some wiggle room in a galaxy far far away.

Wade Becomes a TVA Agent in First Trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine https://www.geekfeed.com/wade-in-first-trailer-for-deadpool-wolverine/ Tue, 13 Feb 2024 11:18:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81019 As promised, Superbowl Sunday managed to give us our first look at the upcoming Deadpool 3, and it teases the first-ever team-up between Wade Wilson and Logan.

Here’s the teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine:

As confirmed, the plot  for Deadpool & Wolverine does have something to do with Wade being assigned by the TVA (Time Variance Authority) as one of their agents, but it’s unclear what mission he’ll be going on. We know that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is going to be part of the film, but a surprising reveal was Aaron Stanford who had played the part of Pyro in the original X movies alongside Jackman.

Based on the rumors that have been coming out, Pyro is only one of several other Marvel Fox characters that are expected to make an appearance. Jennifer Garner is rumored to be reprising the role of Elektra, and it’s rumored that the film will even go as so far to have someone from the original Fantastic Four movies appear.

For what is being expected to be a cameo fest, the teaser actually had a lot of restraint when it came to revealing Wolverine. We don’t know when he’ll be a main part of the trailer, but hopefully Marvel doesn’t blow all the big cameos in the marketing like what Sony has done with the MCU Spider-Man movies.

I just hope they address why Julian Dennison’s Firefist isn’t in the film, because they spent so much of the last movie establishing Wade as his adoptive father. Also, where is Domino???

Catch Deadpool & Wolverine when they cut their way into theaters on July 26.
