Fantastic Four Reboot Taking Place in the 60s?

After months of speculation, Marvel Studios has finally revealed the official cast for their Fantastic Four reboot, and that includes Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm).

This reveal was made with a Valetine’s post of artwork with the team in uniform:

We don’t know yet if this is the actual uniform for the movie or some holiday-themed get-up, but the poster does have fans speculating that the movie will be a period piece not unlike Captain America: The First Avenger.

Besides the overall aesthetic, fans are looking at the magazine that Ben Grimm is holding, and it does look like an actual issue that came out in the 60s.

Until Marvel decides to reveal more, all we can really do is guess; but it would make sense for Marvel’s “First Family” to have a story that takes place earlier in the timeline. With the ‘present’ MCU already filled to the brim with all kinds of geniuses, it’s kind of interesting to think that their new Fantastic Four would be people out of time that will have to adjust to the world and new technology.

It would also explain why they’ve been missing since the first Iron Man.

Admittedly, the MCU has been in a bit of a slump since Endgame, but fans are hopeful that after enough time has passed, we could be seeing a new, thought-out direction from the studio moving forward.

Catch The Fantastic Four when it comes out in theaters July 25, 2025.
