Check it out the teaser for the Zelda sequel down here:

Admittedly, it’s kind of weird that Nintendo would just call the game Breath of the Wild 2 rather than an entirely new subtitle, but IGN has confirmed that the game does have an official title, but they decided to keep it a secret as it could reveal some major plot points. Nintendo Treehouse’s Bill Trinen says:

“As for why we’re holding back on the name, you’ll just have to stay tuned because, obviously, Zelda names are kind of important… Those subtitles… they start to give little bits of hints about maybe what’s going to happen.”

We don’t have much details of what’s going to happen in the game yet, but we do get some new traversal options for Link. Hopefully there’s a lot more to it when it comes to the game, because a lot of players admit that graphically, it still pretty much looks like the first Breath of the Wild.

Fans are also wondering if they’ll ever get the chance to play Zelda, but for now it looks like that won’t be the case. After all these years of Zelda being a glorified McGuffin, you’d think that she would actually have some more agency in a franchise that’s named after her.

No specific release date has been set for the sequel to Breath of the Wild, but it is expected to release sometime in 2022.

Watch the First Look at Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-the-first-look-at-ubisofts-avatar-frontiers-of-pandora/ Wed, 16 Jun 2021 06:49:34 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60052 James Cameron is expected to debut his Avatar sequel in December 2022, and though we’ve only been getting glimpses of that movie, Ubisoft has taken to E3 2021 to reveal their upcoming game—Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Check out the first look trailer for the Avatar game down here:

Here’s the story description:

In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.

The game comes from Ubisoft studio Massive Entertainment (Far Cry, Tom Clancy’s The Division) and is said to be dropping exclusively to new-gen consoles as well as PC. The game also makes use of the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine.

Though a lot of people gripe that Avatar is a forgettable film, Cameron was still able to build an impressive world with Pandora. I guess if I were to have some kind of gripe, it’s that you’ll only be able to take the side of the Na’vi in the game. If anything Avatar has managed to mimic Star Wars in a sense that the villainous humans also have their own impressive designs as well; so it would have been great if the game was able to make you choose a side.

It will probably be a while before we get to see more of Frontiers of Pandora, and it’s likely they will release this alongside the upcoming film. My guess is we’ll have to wait until 2022 for the next preview.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is expected to come out for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2022. Avatar 2 is set to hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.

Microsoft Announces Xbox TV App which Removes Need for a Traditional Console https://www.geekfeed.com/microsoft-announces-xbox-tv-app-which-removes-need-for-a-traditional-console/ Fri, 11 Jun 2021 16:38:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60024 Microsoft and Sony had just launched their next-gen consoles late last year, and while the PS5 may be the king when it comes to exclusives, the Xbox Series X|S is still a marvel of technology. But what’s more, it looks like Microsoft is looking to add some more edge to their gaming branch but removing the need for an actual console.

As per The Verge, Microsoft has just announced that they will be working with TV manufacturers on an Xbox app which will allows players to play Xbox games without the need of a console, just a controller. This said to be possible via xCloud streaming technology and a dedicated streaming stick.

Head of gaming experiences and platforms at Microsoft Liz Hamren had this to say about the announcement:

“We’re working with global TV manufacturers to embed the Game Pass experience directly into internet-connected TVs so all you’ll need to play is a controller.”

We don’t know when the app will be available yet, but we should probably hope to see more of this in detail with Microsoft’s E3 showcase on June 13.

Despite this divergence on the console path, IGN reports that Microsoft is still adamant that consoles are the ‘flagship experience.’ A lot of fans do admit that this announcement seems kind of odd for Xbox, considering that they had just launched a console less than a year ago, and now they’re touting a system that would render them obsolete in the future.

Hopefully we’ll get to see more of this cloud-based Xbox app during the Xbox showcase at E3 2021 on June 13.

God of War: Ragnarok Officially Delayed https://www.geekfeed.com/god-of-war-ragnarok-officially-delayed/ Thu, 03 Jun 2021 11:45:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59798 With E3 2021 set to come back this June, a lot if gamers were waiting for a new reveal for the PlayStation exclusive God of War: Ragnarok. Though there looks like there will be an announcement this E3, it looks like the game has been delayed.

As announced by game director Cory Barlog on Twitter, God of War: Ragnarok has been delayed to 2022. Here’s the post:

https://twitter.com/corybarlog/status/1400135829301841922

So far, it looks like the fanbase seems to understand the reason for the delay. Besides the fact that the team had to undergo the pandemic like everyone else, the botched release of Cyberpunk 2077 has been a cautionary tale that a lot of people are still reeling from.

That being said, though the game has been delayed, the line in the announcement ‘we’ve got some exciting things in the works that we can’t wait to show you,’ seems to imply that there could still be some kind of teaser in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo.

With the 2018 game being such a huge hit, a lot of people can’t wait for the return of Kratos and his son Atreus. While the game had teased other mythologies to tackle, it looks like this sequel will focus more on the Norse myths, and this time, we get to see Kratos tackle Thor. What are the odds that this game will actually have him passing the God of War mantle to a grown Atreus? It’s just a theory, but with The Last of Us getting rid of Joel, maybe GOW is gearing up for someone else to be the mascot of the games.

God of War: Ragnarok is set to come out for the PlayStation sometime in 2022. E3 2021 takes place from June 12—June 15.

Square Enix to Announce Guardians of the Galaxy Game in E3? https://www.geekfeed.com/square-enix-to-announce-guardians-of-the-galaxy-game-in-e3/ Tue, 01 Jun 2021 04:06:00 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59755 It’s no mystery that Square Enix kind of flopped when they released Avengers: A-Day, and though the studio has been criticized for mishandling the Marvel IP, it looks like they won’t be stopping anytime soon. This time, word has it that the studio is planning to make a huge Marvel in E3.

As per Jeff Grubb’s Game Mess (via The Gamer), Square Enix is set to make a reveal for a Guardians of the Galaxy game. We don’t know if this will actually be announced at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) 2021, but seeing as the studio may want to keep building hype for their Marvel games, a preview would probably be better if it was released sooner rather than later.

While Avengers may still be getting flak despite its DLC releases, some (specifically myself) are giving Square the benefit of the doubt when it comes to a Guardians game. Though the studio wasn’t able to translate their style into a franchise like the Avengers, Square’s penchant for colorful visuals and characters could fit right in when it comes to a property like Guardians of the Galaxy. Heck, they can model it after Kingdom Hearts with the Guardians being able to travel from planet to planet. It would also be great if we could take control off different characters and switch between them in battle (just like in Final Fantasy VII Remake). Top that off with a 70s soundtrack, and you may have a hit Guardians game.

Then again, these are just thoughts off the top of my head. I’m sure any person with more experience with game development would have a better idea. Let’s also take note that this news of a GOTG game is just a rumor. I guess we’ll just have to wait until E3 2021 to find out.

Watch out for E3 2021 which takes place from June 12—June 15. Square Enix’s Avengers is now playable for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4|PS5, and PC.
