The Purge released it’s official first image today, and it’s title, and you may notice the similarity of the image to a certain Presidents hat, yeah they went there. Now whether or not a Trump type president is to blame for The Purge is yet to be seen, though we probably shouldn’t be too surprised this happened since just before Trump was elected jokes were flying about how Trump would bring forth a real Purge and it looks like the movie creators just went with it.

The title is called The First Purge, though previously and on IMBD it was rumored to be The Island, but it looks like they went straight for the obvious with this one. This Purge movie will, of course, center around the events that lead up to the first Purge and will most likely give us some insight into the political and social climate that lead up to such a heinous event taking place.

Here is the official synopsis:

“Behind every tradition lies a revolution. Next Independence Day, witness the rise of our country’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness. Welcome to the movement that began as a simple experiment: The First Purge. To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community.  But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.”

The last movie The Purge: Election Year made 118.6 million at the box office and was so far the most successful film in the franchise. Returning for The First Purge is creator James DeMonaco alongside Blumhouse Productions Jason Blum (Insidious), Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form(Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ouija series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and DeMonaco’s longtime production partner, Sébastien K. Lemercier (Assault on Precinct 13Four Lovers).

Directed by Gerarge McMurry and written by DeMonaco the cast includes Y’Lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, Luna Lauren Velez and Marisa Tomei.  The Purge franchise is incredibly profitable considering how much it costs to produce.  We also believe that the current interest in politics is an excellent vehicle for these movies all things considered, which is most likely they are relying on great Trump imagery to sell this movie, why not right?

The First Purge will, of course, follow suit of the other movies and release on July 4th, 2018.

What do you think of the new image? Are you a fan of the franchise? Do you think it fits in with the current political climate? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
