Updates on Matt Reeves solo The Batman movie have been vague, from the involvement of Ben Affleck to the rumor that it will focus on a younger Batman. Now rumor has it that the movie will take place in the same universe as Todd Philipps’ Joker movie.

This comes from Mark Hughes discussed it at The Superhero News Show. We don’t have any more details about The Batman movie, but we do know some things about the Joker origin film.

For one, it’s produced by Martin Scorsese and is starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime. We also know that it’s set in a grittier timeline outside of the DCEU and will fall under the new banner of DC Dark or DC Black. Having Batman in that universe would make sense, but personally, I think it would be weird if Reeves decided to continue within that universe instead of focusing on the main timeline of the DCEU.

Though I personally would love to see more of Ben Affleck’s Batman, a lot of rumors have suggested that Reeves’ will want someone else to star in his film—specifically Jake Ghyllenhaal. Nothing has been set in stone yet, but I’m personally hoping we get a Batman movie where the sole focus is Batfleck.

No release date has been set for The Batman.
