Though they weren’t announced for the Phase 4 slate, She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel have been moving forward faster than anticipated for Disney+. After the announcement that Tatiana Maslany would be playing Jennifer Walters, we now have news on who’s going to be the MCU’s Kamala Khan.
According to Deadline, newcomer Iman Vellani has been cast as Kamala in Disney+’s Ms. Marvel series. No specifics have been revealed about this version of Kamala yet, but it’s expected that Marvel would lean into Kamala’s basic character traits in that she’s Pakistani-American, and that she’s also a huge fan of the Avengers.

If anything, Marvel had already been gearing up for Kamala’s arrival in the MCU by making her a playable character in the Avengers game, and though it didn’t review too well, I still thought that the characterization for Kamala was spot on, and I’m hoping they manage to pull of something unique for her in live-action.
While Vellani is expected to star in her own show, word is going around that Kamala is going to make her MCU debut in another property. Some guess she would make an appearance in Captain Marvel 2, but with news on the film kind of sparse, it’s possible Kamala could appear in some other property—maybe Spider-Man 3? I would love for her to be Peter Parker’s classmate, seeing as they’re both young heroes.
No release date has been set for Ms. Marvel, but you can catch WandaVision on Disney+ before the year ends.
