After several weeks of the rumor mill churning out the reveal of Willem Dafoe’s character, and speculation that he would be Atlantean, it has been confirmed that the former Green Goblin will indeed have a part in Justice League. Dafoe will take on the role of trusted Aquaman confidant Vulko.

This is no minor deal. Vulko is the man responsible for ensuring Arthur Curry/Aquaman knew of his lineage, and aided him during the Atlantean War so he could land on the throne as the King of Atlantis. A character loyal to Aquaman through and through, it’s likely that we will see plenty of Dafoe’s Vulko. However, there’s been no confirmation on how much of a factor he’ll play into the events of Justice League. As such, there are also no details in regards to whether the character will appear in James Wan’s Aquaman standalone. Though, because Willem Dafoe is an oscar-nominated actor, it’s probably safe to assume his esteemed talents will be put to great use in any and every way possible.

In other Justice League news: the film’s official logo and villain has been revealed, as well as the synopsis which can be read below:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
