Sony may have loaned Spider-Man off to Marvel, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have any other Marvel characters up their sleeve. Silver & Black may have been put on hold, but Morbius: The Living Vampire is getting some serious traction as they’ve just cast the title role.

According to Variety, Jared Leto is being tapped to play the lead of Morbius. As it turns out, Leto has actually been attached to the project for a while, but he was just waiting for the project to move in the right direction. Now Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) is attached to helm with a script from Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Netflix’s Lost in Space).

After Leto’s disappointment with Suicide Squad, it would make sense now that he would be more careful of the project before he starts making commitments. He totally gave it his all for the role of the Joker, but was ultimately pissed that a lot of his work didn’t make it into the final cut.

With a Joker move announced with Leto to star, it’s said that this Morbius movie will not interfere with his work over at the DCEU. It seems that Leto is getting a penchant for playing villains. Let’s hope he does good with this role of Morbius. Fingers crossed he actually gets to clash with Tom Holland’s Spidey someday.

No release date has been set for Morbius: The Living Vampire.
