It is arguably one of the best and most memorable novels from famed horror writer, Stephen King. Unsurprisingly, the latest retelling of the story featuring a murderous clown made a killing in the box-office. 2017’s It earned a whopping $700 million on a budget of merely $35 million. It doesn’t hurt that critics seem to have enjoyed a modern Pennywise still terrorizing children.

With the success of the movie, a sequel was almost expected. The development of It: Chapter 2 was announced a few days after the premiere of the first feature. After a year, the movie has wrapped and its cast and crew has been more than eager to talk about the masterpiece that they created.

In an Instagram tweet, It: Chapter 2 director,  Andrew Muschietti, confirmed that the filming for the feature has wrapped. In the post, Muschietti gushed about the experience. The director thanked his very capable cast and crew and teased the fans of how much of a remarkable performance they should expect:

“IT chapter 2 was an 86-day roller coaster ride. Never had so much fun making movies as this one. I had a relentless and inspired crew who believed in this adventure as much as i did and a cast that put their heart and soul behind every second of performance. A huge thank you to all of them and also to my producer and sister @barbaramus who dealt with all the shit that a production like this has reserved for producers. And last but not least, the fans who day by day boosted our spirits by reminding us how much this story means to them. Thank you and Love to you all” read the Instagram post.

In 2017, Muschietti revealed that chapter 2 would delve deeper into the lives of the kids who had to face Pennywise. However, time has passed. The kids are thirty and would have to deal with the killer clown.. again:

“We’ll probably have a script for the second part in January [2018]. Ideally, we would start prep in March. Part one is only about the kids. Part two is about these characters 30 years later as adults, with flashbacks to 1989 when they were kids” explained Muschietti in a sit-down with Variety.

Muschietti isn’t the only key player in It: Chapter 2 who has spoken about the upcoming horror movie. In an interview with Indiewire, Bill Hader, the actor who plays Richie Tozier, explained that there was something quite surprising about the sequel to It. As part of the cast, he didn’t expect the movie to be emotional:

“It’s really great. It’s very emotional. The cast is amazing… It’s really scary obviously, but I was surprised at how emotional it was. It’s really a story about these people and this kind of trauma that they all went through.”

Aside from Hader, It: Chapter 2 would star James McAvoy, Bill Skarsgard, Jessica Chastain, Jay Ryan, and Isaiah Mustafa. The movie is scheduled to premiere in a year on September 6, 2019.
