Henry Cavill Leaving Superman Could Have Been a Fake Story

The internet basically tore itself apart yesterday when news came out that Henry Cavill has left the Superman role, but now new sources are saying that the entire debacle could have been a fake story.

According to TMZ, there’s “no real discussion over the main role because there’s no active ‘Superman’ project.” It’s been said that WB is deciding to focus on a Supergirl movie as of now, and if a Superman project is ever greenlit, Cavill is still set to reprise the role.

The whole thing apparently started when Cavill turned down a cameo in next year’s Shazam! because he felt he was getting underpaid for his work. Add to that, he’s also signed on to star in Netflix’s The Witcher. Perhaps some people jumped the gun and thought Cavill signing on to play Geralt of Rivia meant the end of his Superman days.

This must come as a relief to some fans. After the news came out, there was a public outcry to keep Cavill onboard. Some have even gone so far to say that they will boycott any upcoming DCEU movies like Aquaman and Shazam! if Cavill isn’t brought back.

If anything, we’ll just have to wait for a while before we get to see Superman in a solo film again. At least we know they’re not recasting Cavill.
