Ant-Man and the Wasp would hit the big screens this weekend. Fans had to wait three years for the upcoming sequel. Needless to say, the excitement for the movie is palpable.

With the movie only days away from its release, newest cast member, Hannah John-Kamen, sat down for an interview to discuss her role as the mysterious Ghost. During her conversation with Screenrant, the British actress gushed about her experience and revealed details about Ant-Man and the Wasp.

In the interview, John-Kamen spoke about being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actress, who recently starred in another box-office hit, Ready Player One, explained how much of an honor it is to be part of such a big story. She was also excited to be cast for a role that was meant to be played by a man:

“I was honored to play Ghost. To come and play Ghost. And she’s badass, she’s badass. She really does it for me. And also, to have a male written comic book character and, as a female, take that and adapt it into my own and have the freedom to do that. That was, yeah, that’s an honor to do.”

John-Kamen also revealed that another famous comicbook character inspired her in her role as Ghost. She says that she spent a lot of her childhood reading comics. During that time, she developed a love for the iconic Batman villain, Joker:

“Well, I always…I mean in terms of like reading comic books growing up and the Joker. I love the Joker. Because he makes it– nothings simple with him. Nothing is simple. Nothing is black and white. I love the psychology of his character. I didn’t actually read the original comic and go, right, I’m going to take that and do that because it’s a completely different entity. So, actually what it was, it was actually figuring out the character with Peyton and sitting down and going, okay, this is who she is, this is who she was, this is who she– This is the process, this her transition in the film, this is what’s happening, this is a relationship. And it was amazing to kind of start there and then kind of let the character just evolve and grow and into Ghost.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp hits cinemas in the United States on July 6, 2018. Initially, the movie was supposed to premiere in the UK just a few days after the US debut. It has since been moved to accommodate the World Cup.

There has since been outcry over the rescheduling of the UK premiere. The cast of the movie has previously voiced out their dissatisfaction with the decision. Fans have even started a campaign aiming to urge the production company to move the premiere back to its original date. However, they have had no luck.

The UK premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled for August 3, 2018 – almost a month after the US debut.
