Warner Bros. and DC had an SDCC 2016 to remember with their fantastic showings. One of the biggest highlights was of course the first trailer for The Flash Season 3. In it, the results of Barry’s timeline changing decision were put on full display. Prior to the reveal, the cast touched on what fans should expect from the Flashpoint storyline, teasing the massive alterations that await. However, according to Grant Gustin, fans shouldn’t anticipate the story arc lasting too long.

In an interview with IGN, Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh, and Jesse L. Martin spoke on where the show will pick up. This led to Gustin hinting at the short term focus, but the long term effects.

“There’s ramifications throughout the whole season, but it won’t last as long as some people are expecting it to last, I guess. There are permanent effect on the rest of the show.” He continued, “there’s not a complete departure from all the relationships that have existed.”

You can see the interview in its entirety below. Flashpoint talk begins at the 3:05 timestamp. Plus, Tom Cavanagh does a glorious Christopher Walken impression at the 5:19 mark.

As Cavanagh and Martin note, Gustin’s words are just a teaser, offering very little to go on. Some fans assume it may last the whole season, this clearly confirms it won’t. However, others believe we won’t return to the original timeline until midseason. How wrong or right are they?

The Flash Season 3 begins October 4. In the mean time, let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
