We may have seen one Decepticon in the trailer for Bumblebee, but there are actually two more that will be introduced in the movie. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have a new look at Shatter (left) and Dropkick (right).
Check them out:
Described as ‘Decepticon muscle cars’, Shatter (Angela Bassett) transforms into a red Plymouth Satellite while Dropkick (Justin Theroux) turns into a blue AMC Javellin. No reveal has been given for the Decepticon seen in the trailer, but longtime Transformers fans are almost sure that the character is definitely Starscream. Just looking at the color scheme is a dead giveaway.
Though Michael Bay’s Transformers movies usually contain several Autobots and Decepticons, Bumblebee will be keeping things to a minimum with only three Decepticons and only Bumblebee as the Autobot. Sure we might see Optimus Prime, but at best it’s going to be only for one scene.
Director Travis Knight had this to say about the minimal amount of characters in the movie:
“When the cast is too big, and you have a finite amount of time, there’s only so much you can do to create an investment in them… This is a more personal, intimate, and character-driven story, so it felt right to keep the villain plot relatively simple and contained. If you keep things lean, you can add a lot of other stuff on top of it that makes it more enjoyable.”
Hopefully the movie gives us some bigger reveals during its panel at SDCC 2018.
Catch Bumblebee in cinemas Dec. 21.
