Marvel fans remember a time when Spider-Man games were actually pretty great, but it’s been years since Spider-Man 2 released and we haven’t gotten a solid platformer with the webslinger. Sony is bringing us a new Spider-Man PS4 game, however, and a new gameplay trailer has been revealed at E3 showcasing some classic villains.
Check it out:
I have a feeling that the teaser in the end is Doctor Octopus, but I would still be psyched if it turned out to be Venom. So far, this is our first look at some classic Spider-Man rogues, and I think it would be amazing if we got to see him fight against the Sinister Six at some point in the game.
We have yet to see villains like Mysterio, Kraven, or even the Green Goblin though.
All-in-all, I think the game looks like an expected upgrade from the PS2 Spider-Man games. You still have your open city to explore, and the Arkham fighting mechanic. I was just hoping there was something a bit newer to look forward to. Who knows, maybe they’re just holding it back as a surprise for players when they finally get the game.
Marvel’s Spider-Man features your favorite web-slinger in a story unlike any before it. Now a seasoned Super Hero, Peter Parker has been busy keeping crime off the streets as Spider-Man. Just as he’s ready to focus on life as Peter, a new villain threatens New York City. Faced with overwhelming odds and higher stakes, Spider-Man must rise up and be greater.
Spider-Man comes out on the PS4 on Sept. 7.
