It’s finally here. After months of waiting, and being spoiled by set photos, we finally have out first official look at Captain Marvel in Shazam!

David F. Sandberg told Entertainment Weekly about the final costume design:
“I wanted to keep the shorter cape as a throwback to the original because that’s something that sets him apart from Superman or Batman… It makes him feel a bit more Golden Age superhero, which is the vibe I’m going for.”
The disabled kid beside Captain Marvel is actually Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer). In the comics, Freddy actually gets powers of his own and becomes Captain Marvel Jr., but I bet they’re saving the reveal of the Captain Marvel family for the next movie. For now, having Billy Batson have the adventure alone seems like enough.
I’ll have to admit, it’s amazing how the DCEU keeps their costumes comic-accurate without the characters looking silly. We can get Batman, Superman, and Captain Marvel in spandex and they look absolutely cool. Meanwhile, Marvel gives its fans modernized versions of classic comic outfits. We definitely can’t wait for the DCEU’s Shazam to fly up on the big screen.
