‘Arrow’ Adding Character Linked To Green Lantern

Of all the recurring easter eggs in the Arrowverse snuck in there for the fans, one of the most tantalising and long-running is the teasing of Green Lantern. Both Green Arrow and The Flash have travelled over to Coast City — the hero’s home town in the comics — on occasion and an episode of The Flash referenced a test pilot from Ferris Air going missing. This is, of course, Lantern’s origin story. Not to mention the fact that we briefly saw a guy in a green pilot’s jacket labelled ‘Jordan at one stage.

Arrow season five looks to be going even further than this as it is introducing Susan Williams, who will be played by The Tomorrow People’s Carly Pope. TV Insider describe the character as “a journalist from nearby Coast City who comes to Star City “looking to make a name for herself” by targeting Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) for a big story.”

This is relevant to Green Lantern because in the comics, Susan is the wife of Jim Jordan — the little brother of Hal Jordan. So is this tangentially-releated character finally paving the way for the proper arrival of Hal Jordan? Well, in all honesty probably not, but the idea isn’t as totally out of the question as it used to be. After all, Supergirl’s second season will feature Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, another superhero we thought was off-limits to DC‘s TV arm.

Pope is not the only newcomer to the show’s main roster. Chad L Coleman has been cast as new villain Tobias Church and Evelyn Sharp will return as the vigilante Artemis. Season four recurring star Echo Kellum will become a regular in his role as Curtis Holt. Arrow is due to shoot back to our screens on October 5th on The CW.
