Damon Lindelof has been doing some stellar work with shows like The Leftovers and last year’s Watchmen, and everyone is curious on what he has in store for his next project. What’s interesting is, he actually wants to join the Disney bandwagon and work on something for Marvel/Star Wars.
Talking to Fandom, Lindelof explains,
“I think that doing something in the Marvel universe, anywhere in the Marvel Universe, would be really potentially exciting for me, especially as they start to get a little bit more experimental… Some of the things that I’ve seen for Wandavision, for example, just feel like, ‘Okay, now we’re getting somewhere’. Particularly in a television space.”
With Disney+ greatly reducing the risk for Marvel projects, now is the right time to try out a lot of different experimental properties. I guess the only limit so far is the PG-13 rating, but it would be impressive if Lindelof could work on something that’s compelling, but at the same time kid-friendly.
As far as Star Wars goes, Lindelof continues:
“…And, at some point, but certainly not in the immediate future, I feel like I would love to do something in the Star Wars universe. Maybe a decade from now when I would no longer be blamed for ruining it. That would be a hoot.”
Granted, with the state of Star Wars now, it would be better for Lindelof to wait until things are back on their feet before jumping into the franchise. Besides, the fandom is notoriously toxic, and it’s probably best he keep away from it until fans get their shit together; if they get their shit together.
We don’t know if Lindelof will eventually take on Marvel or Star Wars, but you can catch Watchmen on HBO.
