It’s no mystery that Henry Cavill was kind of a nerd, that’s why fans loved it so much when he was cast as Superman in Man of Steel then Geralt in The Witcher. With Cavill out of both of those projects though, it seems that he’s found himself in another high-value IP being worked on by Amazon.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill is now set to executive produce and star in an adaptation of the popular tabletop game Warhammer 40,000. The project is yet to have a showrunner or director yet, but it’s said that Amazin is aiming for a Warhammer movie and TV play.
The Warhammer franchise launched back in the 80s and is said to be very popular in the UK. Creative Director Andy Smillie of Games Workshop, the studio that produces Warhammer, had this to say about starting the project with Cavill at the center:
“It’s great news and we’re absolutely thrilled; we’re working with a fantastic triumvirate in Henry, Vertigo, and Amazon. Henry’s well-known love of Warhammer 40,000—and his passion as a world-builder and storyteller—will serve us all well in the coming years. Finally, Warhammer will make it to the screen as the fans have hoped, and as they deserve. Exciting times!”

After years of waiting, fans were certainly devastated when it was announced that Cavill is finally done playing Superman, but I guess he has found a franchise that he’s also passionate about.
Hopefully Amazon doesn’t cancel it. For now, no release date has been announced for Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000.
