A lot of fans thought we were just going to see more Maximals and Predacons in the upcoming Transformers movie, but the latest trailer that just dropped has revealed the arrival of one of the biggest (literally) Transformers villains in the franchise.
Check out Unicron in the latest trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts:
Just in case you’re not caught up on Transformers lore, Unicron was the villain introduced in Transformers: The Movie, and he was a planet-sized robot voiced by Orson Welles (his last role, in fact). The last Michael Bay movie actually made the reveal that planet Earth itself was Unicron, but I guess the new films are really leaning in on the ret-con of the ‘Bayformers’ franchise.
It’s actually pretty impressive they managed to keep Unicron a secret in the first teaser, but now that he’s here, I’m actually pretty excited for all the things we can expect with this film. With Bumblebee pretty sparing on the robot action, I’m eager to watch an all-out war with the new batch of robots in disguise.
Then again, is it just me, or does this all feel like Megatron should be in these films? Is he still frozen in this timeline?
Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformers – the Maximals – to join them as allies in the existing battle for earth.
Catch Transformers: Rise of the Beasts when it comes to cinemas on June 29.
