Bumblebee’s Hailee Steinfeld Reportedly Cast in Disney+’s Hawkeye

Though Disney+ is giving Hawkeye his own series, the show won’t be solely centered on Clint Barton, but rather his protégé Kate Bishop. Rumors have been going around that Marvel wanted Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld for the role, and it looks like they got their wish.

According to The Illuminerdi, Steinfeld has officially been cast in Disney+’s Hawkeye series. The show is said to run for a limited six episodes and will follow Barton as he attempts to pass the mantle of Hawkeye to Kate Bishop.

Steinfeld had been rumored for the part of Kate for months, but after those allegations came out about Jeremy Renner, it looked like she would have been passing on the role. It’s kind of surprising that they actually got her attached, but I think this is a testament on Renner’s case. I mean, I’m sure Disney has all these fact-checkers on their side, and they wouldn’t be pushing forward with Renner unless it got way uglier.

We don’t have that much details on the Hawkeye series yet, but it was slated to come out on the latter half of Marvel Phase 4. We don’t know exactly what to expect, but I would assume that it would also involve some kind of origin story for Clint. I mean, if this is Renner signing off on the part, then it would make sense for the franchise to leave no stone unturned. Hopefully they also give enough characterization for Kate Bishop to stand on her own in future films.

No release date has been set for Hawkeye, but I’m guessing it would come out early 2022.
