James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is set to come out a year from now, and with the film promising to give us a first look at DC FanDome, Gunn has decided to share some of the first official marketing material for the film.
On Twitter, he posted the official logo for The Suicide Squad as well as all the international versions of it. Check it out:
We don’t have any more details than that, but hopefully we get a slow trickle of them as FanDome approaches on Aug. 22. Looking back at the logo though, you can see that it’s a lot brighter than the first teaser for Suicide Squad. With David Ayer originally intending that film to be dark, it looks like Gunn is approaching with a more colorful approach when it comes to this sequel/reboot.
I think it’s also worth noting that Gunn had celebrated his birthday on the 5th of August, and with that the entire cast of The Suicide Squad including Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, and the rest have posted up this video greeting Gunn on his birthday:
I have to say, I’m remaining cautiously optimistic about this film. I still prefer the original dark approach of Ayer’s film, and I’m hoping that his cut of the movie gets officially released next year. On Gunn’s part, I think he’s going to be able to make the movie funny, but I kind of want something else as compared to what we get from Guardians of the Galaxy. Then again, I imagine this one is going to be closer to Super starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page.
