The Last of Us Part II Delayed Indefinitely

The Last of Us Part II was originally set to come out in February, but Naughty Dog had pushed the release back to May. With COVID-19 pushing everything back though, it looks like one of the most anticipated games of the year will have to be delayed again.

As per the official announcement from Naughty Dog, The Last of Us Part II won’t be making its May release date:

We don’t have any specifics as to why the game has been delayed, but it’s been boiled down to logistics. As far as the status of the game, it’s said to be almost completed, and the developers are ‘in the midst of fixing our final bugs.’ Hopefully they’ll get a solid release date once we get news that the pandemic is starting to die down, but for now, all we can really do is wait for everything to blow over.

While it sure is disappointing that the game has been delayed, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to everyone, seeing that almost everything that was set for a release until June have been cancelled. Optimistically, everyone wants things to be normal by then, but seeing as we have yet to reach the height of the pandemic, it would make sense for Naughty Dog to regroup and delay the game, as it could very well be the case if COVID-19 doesn’t slow down anytime soon.

The Last of Us Part II now has no release date, but fingers crossed it comes out before the year ends.
