One of the biggest numbers in the film is Revolting Children which will have all the kids doing some outrageous dance choreography, and we have a clip giving audiences what to expect.

Watch this:

The original number in the play was actually played by something like a dozen kids, so you can imagine how the film has upped the ante by having an entire school of children dancing around and causing havoc in the school.

Though the 1996 Matilda is considered to be a cult classic, this musical had won several awards ever since it came out back in 2010. If anything, it’s a chance for a new generation of audiences to fall in love with the works of Roald Dahl. Who knows, maybe it can even hype up the release of that Willy Wonka prequel starring Timothee Chalamet.

Matilda Wormwood (Alisha Weir) is a little girl with big curiosity, a sharp mind and a vivid imagination – and the worst parents in the world. While her parents (Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough) content themselves with trashy TV and dodgy money-making schemes, she loves to lose herself in the pages of her beloved books. Where they are loud, selfish and unkind she is a quiet observer, thinking up small and cheeky acts of rebellion and revenge. On meeting her inspirational teacher, Miss Honey (Lashana Lynch), Matilda is encouraged and begins conjuring her own fantastical tales. Excited to attend Crunchem Hall, Matilda is surprised to find the school is an ominous and oppressive place led by the huge and villainous Miss Trunchbull (Emma Thompson). As well as kind Miss Honey, the bright lights among the meanness are story-loving librarian, Mrs. Phelps (Sindhu Vee), and Matilda’s newfound school friends. Filled with an overwhelming sense of justice, Matilda dares to take a stand for what is right and teach Trunchbull a lesson she won’t forget.

Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical is now showing in theaters and will release on Netflix come Christmas Day Dec. 25.

Children are Revolting in Latest Trailer for Roald Dahl’s Matilda https://www.geekfeed.com/children-are-revolting-in-roald-dahls-matilda/ Fri, 14 Oct 2022 12:39:47 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71599 1996’s Matilda remains to be a cult classic, but Netflix is set to put a new spin on the tiny psychic in the form of a musical. Roald Dahl’s Matilda is expected to come out this December, and we have a new trailer teasing all the fantastic musical numbers and trippy visuals.

Watch the new trailer down here:

Here’s the official description:

It’s also worth noting that the music and lyrics from the play were written by musical comedian Tim Minchin, and Tony Award-winning director Matthew Warchus is at the helm on the director’s chair.

The musical numbers look ridiculously huge, and I’m excited to see the play brought to life in a movie scale. I also have to commend how Emma Thompson is just unrecognizable as Ms. Trunchbull. I guess she hasn’t been covered in makeup as heavily since the Nanny McPhee movies.

Matilda comes to Netfix on Dec. 25, Christmas Day.

Meet the ‘Revolting Children’ of Netflix’s Matilda Musical https://www.geekfeed.com/meet-the-revolting-children-of-netflixs-matilda-musical/ Thu, 16 Jun 2022 14:35:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65661 We had gotten a Matilda movie from Danny DeVito back in the 90s, but now Netflix is ready to give us a musical version from director Matthew Warchis and musician Tim Minchin.

Watch the teaser for Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical:

Here’s the official description:

Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical is an inspirational musical tale of an extraordinary girl who discovers her superpower and summons the remarkable courage, against all odds, to help others change their stories, whilst also taking charge of her own destiny. Standing up for what’s right, she’s met with miraculous results.

Though Matilda does have psychic powers in the source material, we don’t really get to see any of it here. Instead, we do have a look at the amazing cast, as well as the children who are going to be dancing and singing alongside our lead girl.

Since this is just a teaser, we should expect to see more of the movie soon. With a Netflix release set for the holidays, I’m guessing we could get a new trailer by September.
