Watch the trailer for Don’t Worry Darling starring Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, and more:

The trailer is purposefully vague when it comes to the plot of the story, but the official description does lay out the setting very extensively:

Alice (Pugh) and Jack (Styles) are lucky to be living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. The 1950’s societal optimism espoused by their CEO, Frank (Pine)—equal parts corporate visionary and motivational life coach—anchors every aspect of daily life in the tight-knit desert utopia.

While the husbands spend every day inside the Victory Project Headquarters, working on the “development of progressive materials,” their wives—including Frank’s elegant partner, Shelley (Chan)—get to spend their time enjoying the beauty, luxury and debauchery of their community. Life is perfect, with every resident’s needs met by the company. All they ask in return is discretion and unquestioning commitment to the Victory cause.

But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can’t help questioning exactly what they’re doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what’s really going on in this paradise?

If you’ve seen Midsommar, you’ll know that Pugh can pretty much play the woman in a troubled relationship, and it looks like she’s going to be playing the same archetype when it comes to Don’t Worry Darling.

If anything, the movie kind of feels a lot like The Stepford Wives, but this time, it’s the husbands who are keeping a terrible secret, and it’s Florence Pugh who has started to see throught the cracks of the whole façade.

Catch Don’t Worry Darling when it hits theaters on Sept. 23.

Chloe Zhao Reveals the Darker Original Ending of Eternals https://www.geekfeed.com/chloe-zhao-reveals-the-darker-original-ending-of-eternals/ Wed, 29 Dec 2021 08:05:24 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63190 With Marvel movies being deemed as formulaic by critics, director Chloe Zhao had went another direction with her movie, Eternals. While the movie felt different from the usual Marvel fare, it was supposed to have a bleaker, darker ending.

Talking to Empire, Zhao reveals that the film would have ended with all the Eternals just having their memories erased again. She explains:

“It used to end with everybody back on the ship, minds erased and just going on to another planet, like The Twilight Zone… I remember when it goes to black, everyone was like, ‘I don’t know what to do.’

Since the MCU is expected to get people ‘excited for what’s next,’ Zhao then opted to change the plot to something more optimistic. Even if that was the case, she says that her movies never end up the way she started them out to be. Zhao further explains, I have never made a film where the ending is what I wrote! You find it in the edit. Editing is a third of the filmmaking process, and when you show it to people, that’s when you find the ending.”

We don’t know what’s in store for the Eternals in the future, but the introduction of Celestials does give the MCU another big bad that the Earth has to look out for. Also, we get a tease of Kit Harington’s Black Knight actually coming to screen soon, and it could be with Mahershala Ali’s version of Blade.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Eternals is set to hit Disney+ on Jan. 12, 2022.

Eternals Star Barry Keoghan Hospitalized in Ireland https://www.geekfeed.com/eternals-star-barry-keoghan-hospitalized-in-ireland/ Tue, 24 Aug 2021 17:13:05 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61163 Actor Barry Keoghan has been on a steady rise to stardom with appearances in properties like Dunkirk and Chernobyl; and while fans were waiting for his MCU debut with Eternals, Keoghan has found himself in a bit of trouble.

As per Sunday World (via ComicBookMovie), Keoghan has been hospitalized in Galway, Ireland after he was assaulted over the weekend. He’s said to be treated for facial injuries which are ‘serious’ but nothing life-threatening. So far, no arrests have been made.

Keoghan’s reps have declined to comment on the matter, but hopefully we get an update on his condition soon.

In the movie, Keoghan will be playing the part of Druig who is actually a villain in the comics. We don’t get to see his power set in any of the trailers, but comic Druig has the ability to cast illusions and do all sorts of telekinetic mind games. He also has the power of flight and superhuman stamina, but who would want an OP character in their franchise these days?

While I’m betting that it’s Angelina Jolie’s Thena that turns out to be a secret villain, I wouldn’t mind seeing Keoghan take center stage as a last-minute villain. Then again, I’m getting too ahead of myself.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an unexpected tragedy forces the Eternals, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years, out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.

Catch Keoghan in the highly anticipated Eternals which hits theaters on Nov. 5.

Deviants Take Spotlight in Final Trailer For Eternals https://www.geekfeed.com/deviants-take-spotlight-in-final-trailer-for-eternals/ Thu, 19 Aug 2021 13:35:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61102 A lot of critics online are still gushing about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but Marvel Studios has decided to ride the hype train and release a final trailer for Eternals. Now we have a better look at the plot, as well as the antagonists of the film—the Deviants.

Check out the trailer for Eternals down here:

While the first trailer gives us a general introduction of the Eternals, this preview gives us a bit more on the main story of the film. We’re teased that we’ll get an explanation as to why the Eternals didn’t intervene with Thanos in previous world-ending events, and we also get our first look at these Deviants that are their sworn enemies.

I suspect that we’ll eventually get a villain with a face in this film, but for now I guess Marvel is fine being sparse with their reveals. My guess is that it’s one of the Eternals who will turn out to be the big bad—possibly Angelina Jolie’s Thena—but hopefully Marvel thinks that it would be too predictable and go a different route.

With the franchise starting to get formulaic by Phase 2, a lot of fans are hoping these new, more obscure entries in the MCU will shake of the feeling of “superhero fatigue”. Let’s just wait and see till November if things will feel different.

The Eternals, a race of immortal beings with superhuman powers who have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years, reunite to battle the evil Deviants.

Eternals comes out on Nov. 5.
