Now Love, Simon director Greg Berlanti is going to have his own take on the historic event with the star power of Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson.

Check out the first trailer for Fly Me to the Moon:

Here’s the official description:

Starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, FLY ME TO THE MOON is a sharp, stylish comedy-drama set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven Kelly Jones (Johansson) wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s (Tatum) already difficult task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up and the countdown truly begins…

Culturally, there are several rumors about how the Moon Landing was pulled off, so it’s no mystery that there are multiple films tackling what and what could’ve happened. One infamous rumor is that they got Stanley Kubrick (2001: A Space Odyssey) to fake the Moon Landing, and that’s why Johansson’s character mentions him in the trailer.

It’s not clear how much of this is actually true to life, but I’m game for a silly story about the NASA marketing team who were tasked with getting the people to back a mission to go to the moon during the height of the Space Race.

Fly Me to the Moon lands in theaters on July 12.

Magic Mike’s Last Dance Trailer Brings Back Channing Tatum https://www.geekfeed.com/channing-tatum-returns-in-magic-mikes-last-dance/ Thu, 17 Nov 2022 15:43:47 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72036 It’s been almost a decade since the release of the last Magic Mike film, and though it looked like the series was over, it seems that Channing Tatum has one more thing to say about his experience as a male stripper.

Here’s the first trailer for Magic Mike’s Last Dance which is set to come out on Valentine’s Day. Watch this:

The official description reads:

“Magic” Mike Lane (Channing Tatum) takes to the stage again after a lengthy hiatus, following a business deal that went bust, leaving him broke and taking bartender gigs in Florida. For what he hopes will be one last hurrah, Mike heads to London with a wealthy socialite (Salma Hayek) who lures him with an offer he can’t refuse…and an agenda all her own.

With the way the first movies have been touting the world of male stripping with hyper-sexualized imagery, it kind of seems like this trailer is a lot closer to the Step-Up franchise than Magic Mike. Then again, this is a green band trailer, so maybe we can have a look at the more adult elements somewhere down the line.

The Magic Mike films are kind of weird in that they do have a lot of great stripping scenes, but they also have a tendency to get more serious than advertised, but I guess it’s all part of the brand. With Magic Mike seeming to be down and out, I wonder what kind of journey he has left in Steven Soderbergh’s saga of male stripping.

Magic Mike’s Last Dance hits theaters Feb. 10, 2023.

Bond Girl Lea Seydoux Admits She was in the Cancelled Gambit Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/bond-girl-lea-seydoux-admits-she-was-in-the-cancelled-gambit-movie/ Mon, 30 May 2022 14:57:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65405 Before Disney acquired 20th Century Studios, there were multiple spinoffs announced including New Mutants, X-Force, and Gambit starring Channing Tatum. While a lot of those projects didn’t end up happening, one star has revealed that she was originally attached to be in Tatum’s Marvel spinoff.

Bond girl Lea Seydoux has admitted that she was originally set to star as Bella Donna Boudreaux in the cancelled Gambit. She told IndieWire, “The script was really good…It had some funny bits in it, but they wanted to make more of a comedy. I feel that in America people have more imagination. I have been offered films very very far from what I’ve done and I’m like, ‘Oh. Interesting.’ I love to feel that I can adapt myself. For me, that’s very exotic.”

We don’t know exactly why Gambit never got off the ground, but Tatum has said that the heads thought that the project was too ‘flamboyant’. Tatum told Variety, “They would call him ‘flamboyant’ in his description… I wouldn’t — he was just the coolest person. He could pull anything off. Most superheroes, their outfits are utilitarian. Batman’s got his belt. Gambit’s like, ‘No, this shit’s just fly, bro! This shit walked down the Paris runway last year.’ He’s just wearing the stuff that’s so dope because he loves fashion.”

With Marvel possibly introducing the X-Men soon, maybe there could be space to introduce a Gambit revival, but with the way the MCU is so formulaic, I’d say the chances are pretty slim. Then again, Tatum is a huge star, and if he was attached to the project, maybe something could happen.

Who knows, maybe Gambit is exactly the kind of spice that the MCU needs right now, after the mid reception of properties like Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Doctor Strange 2.

Gambit Left Channing Tatum ‘Traumatized’ https://www.geekfeed.com/gambit-left-channing-tatum-traumatized/ Fri, 04 Feb 2022 07:14:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63813 Long before the Disney acquisition, 20th Century Fox had a lot of X-Men spinoffs planned from an X-Force film to another Deadpool movie. One other property that was in the works was Gambit with Channing Tatum, and though the movie was cancelled like all the rest, Tatum says that he took it particularly hard.

Talking to Variety, Tatum explained, “Once Gambit went away, I was so traumatized… I shut off my Marvel machine. I haven’t been able to see any of the movies. I loved that character. It was just too sad. It was like losing a friend because I was so ready to play him.”

We never really got a look at Gambit, but word was going around that the film would be a semi-musical—this was around that the time that Fox was trying to be more experimental with their comic book entries; that’s why New Mutants had a strong horror vibe. Gambit was supposed to be another stab at experimentation.

As for why the movie never took off, Tatum explains that, “The studio really didn’t want us to direct it,” They wanted anybody but us, essentially, because we had never directed anything.”

Though I was skeptical about the Gambit movie when it was announced, Tatum’s description of the character kind of has me interested. While the studio allegedly called the character ‘flamboyant’, Tatum retorts saying:

I wouldn’t — he was just the coolest person.

Maybe there’s room for Gambit once the MCU brings in their X-Men, but I have to say I’m kind of bummed that Tatum never got to make this movie.

Witness the Historically Accurate First Trailer for America: The Motion Picture https://www.geekfeed.com/witness-the-historically-accurate-first-trailer-for-america-the-motion-picture/ Mon, 07 Jun 2021 00:24:00 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59827 If Drunk History was a source of hilariously recapped moments in American history, this upcoming film would be the same concept with energy drinks. Netflix has dropped the first trailer for America: The Motion Picture, and it tells a stylized, action-heavy version of the origins of the United States of America.

Watch the trailer for America down here:

Here’s the official description:

For, like, thousands of years, the origins of the United States of America have remained shrouded in mystery, lost to the sands of time. Who built this ‘country tis of thee,’ and why? Only the dinosaurs know… until now. For the first time in human history, the incredible, completely true story of America’s origins are revealed in AMERICA: THE MOTION PICTURE — a once-in-a-lifetime cultural event available the only way the Founding Fathers ever intended their story be told: On Netflix, on your phone, June 30th.

Besides the star-studded cast which includes the likes of Channing Tatum, Olivia Munn, Simon Pegg, and Andy Samberg, Bobby Moynihan, Judy Greer, and Jason Matzoukas; the movie is also being directed by longtime Archer and Sealab 2021 producer Matt Thompson.

The film looks absolutely bonkers, and while it’s obvious that it won’t be historically accurate, it’s very likely that the film could have some neat jokes when it comes to people who are actually familiar with US history. It’s going to be the perfect film to hype up the Fourth of July.

America: The Motion Picture drops on Netflix this coming June 30.
