Nathan Fielder is the king of alternative reality shows, but it looks like he’s going to be embracing a more serialized story with his upcoming team-up with Benny Safdie (Good Time) called The Curse.
The series co-stars Safdie and Emma Stone, and we have our first trailer of what is sure to be another bizarre ride. Watch this:
The official description of the show reads:
THE CURSE is a genre-bending SHOWTIME® series that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring in their new home-improvement show.
If you’ve followed other series by Fielder (like The Rehearsal), you’ll know that he has a tendency to shoot reality television and just have a fun time messing with regular people. With The Curse, it looks like we’ll actually be following an actual story, but with Fielder involved—and the show being about a couple that is also running a reality show—it does seem like the series is also going to be putting in some genuine civilian reactions here and there; all to add the silliness of the premise.
Emma Stone has been slowing down when it comes to films, but I am eager to watch her collaborate with Fielder and Safdie who have proven themselves to have very unique voices when it comes to movies and television.
The Curse begins streaming on Nov. 10.
