David F. Sandberg might have finished shooting his first DC Extended Universe movie, Shazam!, but it looks like the director’s going to head back to work with the film’s cast and crew next month.

According to Production Weekly, Shazam! is getting three more weeks of production starting November 1, allowing Sandberg and his team to add on more scenes for the upcoming comic book movie. While some fans might jump at the word reshoots, additional photography is a necessary process that allows filmmakers to add and tweak scenes before moving on to post production.

Besides, Shazam! has ample time for its reshoots. Work on additional photography for the film is set five months before the film’s release, giving Sandberg and his team enough room to work on editing and the other processes involved in post.

Of course, the reshoots also mean more time for fans to check out leaked photos of the set. There’s been a lot of excitement growing over Billy Batson’s very first standalone movie. Reportedly taking place after Justice League, Sandberg’s Shazam! will put the spotlight on Billy Batson’s journey to becoming one of DC’s most iconic heroes, Captain Marvel.  Filled with levity and vivid colors, the trailers for Shazam! have charmed most fans out of their pants – followers of the DC Extended Universe have gotten used to the dark color schemes and themes of the franchise. It’s definitely a relief seeing Zachary Levi (Shazam) exuding the child-like charm that DC comic book readers know Captain Marvel for.

Shazam! comes swinging into cinemas April 5, 2019.
